I had an check engine light on my 911 Porsche. It was error 420 which indicated a bad catalytic converter. The cost of replacing just one was over $1900. He suggested I use a gas detergent to hopefully clear the problem and it did. I can't imagine a Porsche dealer Giving me this advice. read more

Artist level work on custom cat-back exhaust. They will work with parts you bring like mufflers, tips, resonators. They custom made piping to fit a creative setup and took the steps to make sure the mufflers and tips were perfectly aligned with one another. Welds are clean. I will remember this level of care and craftsmanship. They work fast and with care. Labor rates reasonable. Easy to work with and open to input for minor adjustments if requested. I was referred to The Muffler Works by a friend and have to say that it was a great experience. The owner Kelly treated me like I was the most important customer he's ever had. I was in the process of trying to install a transfer case strut on my '72 highboy but needed to have one of the mufflers relocated since it was in the way. Colby easily moved it and then I explained that the strut I was going to install was too long. Without hesitation, Kelly cut, drilled and installed the strut . These guys are great and super honest. Another shop quoted me $150 to re-route my tailpipe around a new larger spare tire I put under my van, but muffler works let me know I in fact already had enough clearance for my tire to be safe without needing any modification to the exhaust. These guys were great. I was going to replace a section of tailpipe myself but as the weather was not shade tree mechanic friendly I took the tailpipe in to have MW do it for me. They did it much faster than I could and then only charged me for time. I have always appreciated places that will work with amateur mechanics.. it indicates an attitude of being helpful to customers rather than predatory. I had a Ford Expedition with some catalytic converter issues and needing a new muffler - they were very informative, showed me the scope video of the inside of the cats and were helpful with everything. I was rear ended on 101 Honda Civic smashed all the way under my truck. My trailer hitch took the brunt of the impact and tatered the Civic but he did take out my tail pipe, knocking it out of the bracket and bending the crap out of it so it was rubbing against the axle and the break line. Went to Kelly's shop and he had his guy cut the pipe back and straighten out the bend then weld it back on. He told me insurance would replace the whole pipe assembly but made it safe to drive for me until I could deal with that. Didn't charge me a dime for the work. Totally impressed with the service and I will be taking any vehicles here from now on and will recommend them to everyone. read more

My husband has been asking me to Yelp these fine folks for months! Last night riding by he said " Please go on Yelp for these guys!" So, here I am. He has a 1999 Ford Taurus with 279,000 miles on it. Missing a side mirror (horse kicked it off-don't ask) and he had a hole or break in his muffler pipe. The owner before him must have known and tried using calk or tape or both... a MESS!! The technician took a look, diagnsosed the sad state of repair and said give me some time with it.... He not only fixed it- he barely charged my husband for his time!!
