This place makes for a great extended stay but not when we're paying 5 star prices. Deferred maintanence is visibile though I wouldn't say terrible... but the loose plank fllooring by the fridge is really not acceptable. When i Asked why we didn't get the room with the view they said it was because we reserved with a third party through expedia which we thought was "VACASA" bluesky or what ever this place is... it's not a place I'll ever reserve with or do business again. Like others have said, the Alps is comfortable and includes the amenities that most people want. It certainly is cheaper than most other Leadville motels and a good value. It isn't large enough to have a breakfast and that helps keep the prices down. When full, the parking can be tight but not really a problem unless you are pulling an ATV trailer. Watch the water temperature, Jeff makes sure the water is hot for the cold Leadville winters. We will stay here again.

Though I had originally intended to only stay for about five days the breakdown of my car stranded me there for the better part of two weeks. This hotel is probably one of the best in the mountain top town of Leadville which is located just off of HWY 24S. about 70 miles southwest of Denver. The rooms are nicely furnished, equipped with small fridges and microwaves and are very reasonably priced. The owners were on vacation during my time there but the former owners who were holding down the fort were extremely personable and helpful during that most trying of weeks on the road. Located at the edge of a town which stands at 10,430 feet elevation, the motel offers a scenic view of the nearby snow covered mountain peaks.

I had been planning a "men's adventure" with friends from out of state for a couple of years. We all wanted some time in the woods without sleeping on the ground Mt Elbert Lodge was a natural choice. This was my first time staying here since the new owners took over. What a pleasant surprise! They're very nice and welcoming, the mattresses were new and oh so comfortable, and the barn had been freshened up without losing any of it's old timey charm. This made for the perfect launch point for our daily adventures into the surrounding area. Our days were filled with fishing in the streams, renting e-bikes in BV, and doing the Interlaken trail. Then we'd return in the evening to unwind by the campfire with cigars and stories while the sun faded and the stars presented themselves. It's been many years since I've seen so many stars! My only piece of construction criticism is, I wish they provided wood for the campfire. Even if they wanted to charge a reasonable fee for it, like 6 pieces for $5. Having a campfire really added to our stay and if the wood was already there it would've been easier. Beyond that, it was a flawless experience and I look forward to returning in the future.

Due to rising costs in Breck and the Bivvi becoming more popular with limited availability, I began to stay with Treeline Hostel when visiting Breck to snowboard. Treeline Hostel is in Alma, which is south of Breck over Hoosier Pass, accessible by the free Summit Stage Bus, so it's not necessary to rent a car if you are going to be at the resort for the day. There is a kitchen available so you aren't reliant on eating meals on restaurants every day, and if you don't have time/accessibility to visit a big box grocery, the Alma Market across the street has basics. I also enjoyed free coffee on my recent stay. The furnishings are suitable for a hostel environment and beds are basic but comfortable. Max the owner is hospitable and will chat you up to ask your opinion about the stay. He has plans and ideas to implement, it's neat to see him shape Treeline Hostel for the future. I also appreciated the free WIFI and noise machines in room, which helped me sleep at night.
