Good nachos, big portion for a starter. Very reasonably priced too. We caught the 2 for £12 deal which runs Mon-Thu from 4pm onwards, so for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 kids meals, plus a couple of Cokes, it only cost us £35. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the music was pretty rubbish and a little too loud, and there's only on-street parking which is mostly single or double yellow lines. read more

A few years ago The Mint was mainly a place where you could get pub grub, which it has to be said was always of a very high standard and extremely cheap! Over the last 3 or 4 years it has become more up market and turned into quite a plush restaurant with a large function room upstairs. They extended the eating area by building a long glass conservatory area at the front, which also looks attractive from the exterior. The decor and lighting is pleasant. It is clean and fresh. The staff are polite, down to earth and cheerful. The food is very nice and overall one can enjoy an inexpensive but good meal out. read more

I have been to the mint quite a few times over the years. It was previously one of my favourite places to eat. After the changes made to the environment and furnishings, it is a much more mid-market looking restaurant than before. We were sat in the conservatory area. I was in this past week and the first time I've sampled the new menu. Previously there were some dishes which were a bit pretentious in my opinion for a restaurant located in Coatbridge. The new menu is smaller but one of my favourite starters disappeared which I was disappointed about. After sitting down we noticed there were condiments missing from the table but this was remedied when waitress was notified. Service received was good overall. Another plus is also the drinks are from a can rather than draught. I ordered the mixed pakora starter priced at £5.45. For this I received 2 pieces of vegetable pakora and one piece of chicken pakora. Both tasted fine but the vegetable pakora were lukewarm in the middle and I did expect one or two more pieces. I ordered the fish and chips for the main and this is where the meal took a turn for the worst. The chips were fine, crispy and fluffy. The fish however was extremely greasy and had no seasoning. The batter was soggy, wet and greasy and the fish was overcooked to the point of mush. There was literally no taste of fish, only grease and a hint of batter. The grease could have been remedied by being put on some white paper towels for a minute after being cooked and sprinkled with salt. A little less cooking would also help. Mushy peas were passable but in a nice little individual pot. Overall I may go back to try again but it won't be in the foreseeable future unfortunately. read more

Went to The Mint on Saturday my first complaint was the price of a bottle of wine £15.95 an utter disgrace; When we arrived we were told to go into the conservatory it was freezing throughout the meal The Mint was so cold we were glad to get home for a heat. On our way out we did complain about the cold the waiters reply was I will let them know. My advice to anyone going to The Mint in the winter is to take a hot water bottle when sitting in the conservatory. Never again will we enter The Mint read more

When the Mint first started serving food on a large scale, I thought that it was excellent but on my last few visits it has not been as good. It isn't that the meal is really bad but it always seems seems that there is one problem or another. Wrong starter is sent, a drink is forgotten, one persons main course is cold. Staff are good when they can be bothered but at other times are more interested in talking to each other than checking if you are alright. Prices are okay and set lunch is good value and all in all it is an okay place for lunch, but don't go if it's a celebration as you may be disappointed. read more

I love the mint, you can go for lunch in the conservatory and get reasonable pub grub (i love the chicken goujons and chips with the home made coleslaw) or you can go for a fancy dinner of some nice fish or steak cooked to order. The refurbishment has added a bit more class to it as it used to be just a dark pub that served food now it is a bit more like a well lit restaurant that has a bar. It is right off the main street, near all the main transportation routes, has ample parking near it and it is an easy walk to the bustling main street with all its shops. Very nice indeed. read more

Visited The Mint on Saturday with some friends and had the meal deal that is on just now. The food was very nice and the portions are huge. It was very busy on the night though we had booked for 8-30 and never got served with our first course till 9-20, they did apologize and gave us a free bottle of wine. Have been to the restaurant on many occasions and the staff are very friendly and are willing to do anything to help. read more

Had dinner in The Mint on Saturday with my husband and some friends. Hadnt been for a while and I'd forgotten how good it was. My dinner was lovely. I had chilli nachos for starters which were really good and the peppered chicken for my main course, which I loved. The portions were huge and the staff were really friendly. My husband and friends loved their meals too. We'll definitely be back soon. read more
