However, it recently got updated, in which I worried it's loveable reputation would be ruined if it got too modernised. Luckily it didn't- it's just had a lick of paint and made to look and feel a lot cosier. The menu has totally changed to offer more food options, with more junk food offerings such as 'trash buckets'- buckets filled with pulled pork, fried chicken etc with slaw, cheese and sauces. They still have a huge menu of more home made favourites though. I opted for smoked haddock with spinach mash and a mustard sauce on a Saturday night, and it was so delicious. The mash was creamy and full of spinach, and the mustard sauce was amazing. Possibly the best meal out I have had for a long time! Love the whole feel of a traditional local pub too. Affordable and homely. Recommend eating here!

To the rear of the resturant is a lovely decked area for families to enjoy a bit of the good old english weather, children are allow in the pub till 8pm no sports caps allowed so be aware the door staff may ask you to remove such items.The staff are friendly as are the door staff.

The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!
