We began the day choosing to have a brunch at The Mill.. We have done this before so was glad to be back. We are all many year vegetarians but apart from the Buddha Bowl, we did not see any other vegetarian option on the menu. We asked the nice young waitress if they have avo, sourdough etc. The answer was yes, so we ordered two of them expecting to get a plate each with the items on them as we normally get everywhere else.
One plate came with two slices of toast plus two separate bowls of Haloumi ,two with Tomato and two with Avo. They were like 'sides' but we didn't think for one moment they would charge us like that. Little did we know.
We were obviously charged the maximum as a 'side' for each little bowl, not for two avo meals. That, with two coffees and a tea came to $77.
After I paid, I mentioned it was a very expensive way to serve our brunch, thinking it would come out as normal, on one plate. What happened next was something out of a modern day drama.
Both the young men at the counter were aggressive, told me to "GET OUT, JUST LEAVE' twice just because I calmly stated that I thought this was an unfair way to be charged and that their attitude was completely unwarranted. Then the owner, whom I assume was his father, aggressively crossed the entire restaurant to chase me down to my table and told me 'no one talks to my staff like that, and why had I told them to "p off". I tried to explain that I had been abused and rudely spoke to in the first place.
He continued his rant at ME in a most hostile manner and when I again calmly tried to explain that I was a customer and was merely questioning their way of charging, he continued his aggressive stance OVER ME while I was sitting and he was standing, in front of the everyone that was in the restaurant. Then he again said "GET OUT" just like his two
employees had said.
I had been very nice, calm, and as a customer had every right to at least expect to be spoken to in a courteous manner, even if I did question the bill.
I or my family will never ever go there again and I would advise if you do ignore reviews, be extremely clear about cost and what you order, lest you be confronted by angry discourteous and rude management and male staff. The young ladies were nice and I pity them having to work for these people.
The Mill is not to be recommended. Food very average, sourdough not so sourdough and the place sour. Keep your money and give it to those who deserve it and there are plenty of places in Bowral. read more
