Then the music swept me away to my happy place and I was lost there till the music ended for the night. Tommy O'Sullivan and Jeremy Spencer played a brilliant set tonight--a mix of vocal pieces and instrumentals that had the audience shouting approval after every song. Brilliant! We had a seat at the bar (there aren't many) and had a front row seat for the music. After a few pints, I settled on fish and chips. I am not really a fish fan, but this was outstanding. Ah, Paddy Bawn's -- the only pub in Dingle where you can get kicked out for trying to order a pint…read more We stopped in last Saturday 18th October as part of a 30th birthday crawl -- a friendly, jovial group of lads who managed to make it through every other pub in town with ZERO trouble. The pints were flowing, the craic was mighty, and for a moment, life was peachy.. Then came the Guinness Incident in Paddy Bawns. I'd just ordered a small round, including one Guinness for a friend. Moments later, another friend arrived late and asked if I could add another Guinness to the order. Apparently, that request was an outrageous act of rebellion. The barman, clearly burdened by the great tragedy of having to pull two pints of Guinness, looked me dead in the eye and said, "F*** you." When I (quite reasonably) asked if everything was alright with him, I was swiftly rewarded with an ejection -- courtesy of the owner, summoned to do the dirty work. No conversation, no explanation, just out the door I went. The best part? I wasn't even given the chance to pay for the order. So the lads enjoyed their free Guinnesses -- courtesy of Paddy Bawn's, the pub so committed to bad service they'll pay you to leave. A night to remember. Five stars for comedy, one for service. In Fairness like, how dare the customer ask the man serving pints -- to serve another pint.

Maybe the best custom Irish souvenir of our trip! And a bargain at 60 Euros Cash. Gayle and I enjoyed watching him work and I appreciated his no-nonsense approach, first by warning me that if a person that had shown up earlier came back, I would move down the line. He didn't and it helped that I knew and told him exactly what I wanted. Having my previous belt handy helped at 2 stages in the process. The belt also has the shop's stamp, my initials, and an Irish knot stamp. Great work and experience! p.s. - I did separately enjoy a wee pint of Dick Macks IPA at another Pub.

We weren't sure they were open at first. It's a little small town inn out on the penninsula, and no one seemed to be around. The door was unlocked, so we hesitantly let ourselves into the bar room when we were suddenly greeted with alacrity from the sweetest black dog. A young woman came out shortly after and let us know the kitchen was closed, but she'd be willing to pour us a pint. Outside the main bar area was a beautiful sitting room with a rustic fireplace and candles lit all over. Bathrooms were spotlessly maintained and had a home-like feeling to them. After ordering drinks, it wasn't too long after that we were joined by a gentleman who ran the bar with a smile, and more people started to show up. A local named Billy greeted us warmly despite us being Yanks and him and the bartender kept us in excellent conversation for over an hour. Meanwhile, the sitting room filled up with lively locals gathering at their favorite hometown pub to watch the game and support Ireland. It was pretty memorable, and we were grateful to have been so warmly welcomed. I bet this is a killer bed n breakfast during tourist season!

There was practically nobody here at 8 pm, but by 8:30, if you did not have a seat, you would not likely get one Reasonable price for Guinness. So it is worth having a dinner somewhere, and come here early to have a few before things kick off.
