Been going to the Memorial off and on for 40 years. The course is manicured. The fairways have doglegs and difficult greens. We walk the course, and I will say that this course is the most difficult for spectators. The car paths are very steep in many areas, so walking can be difficult. This tournament is very corporate attended with hospitality homes and tents. Lots of people. Food and drinks are pricey. You can't bring your own food, but bring a golf chair. People do sit in the grass. We've seen lots of changes throughout the years. Come, follow the rules and have a quiet good time at a green. read more

Update: we attended again in 2025 and we noticed this classic tournament with rich traditions I remember from my childhood has morphed into a frat party. Lots of college aged spectators who weren't spectating. Instead, it was a party. We skipped the Sunday round and we didn't buy tickets for 2026. Outside of the majors and WGC (World Golf Championships) events, the Memorial Tournament is one of the sport's best tournaments. This is Jack Nicklaus' tournament after all, played at "Jack's Place" a.k.a. Muirfield Village Golf Club. It's staged in the Columbus, Ohio area where Jack was born and raised. Since the event's inception in 1976, the Memorial has consistently drawn star-studded fields, year in and year out. Like the Masters and invitationals such as the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the Genesis Invitational (organized by the Tiger Woods Foundation), the Memorial has a relatively small field, large purse, and awards many OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) points. That's how you really know it's a top-tier tournament. At the time of writing this review, the Memorial awards more OWGR points than any non-major tournament. Its purse for the 2019-20 season was $9.3 million, on par with the aforementioned Arnold Palmer and Genesis Invitationals. The only tournaments that had bigger purses were the major championships, WGC and FedEx Cup Playoffs events, and the CJ Cup (Korea) and Zozo Championship (Japan). Also, currently, the winner of the Memorial gets a three-year PGA Tour exemption. Aside from the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the WGC events, and the season-ending Tour Championship, winners of all other Tour events get exempt status for "only" two years. The world's top-ranked golfers routinely compete at the Memorial. Tiger Woods has the most wins with five, followed by Kenny Perry (three), and then Jack, Hale Irwin, Greg Norman, and Tom Watson at two wins each. A tradition at the Memorial is for golfers and their families to have milkshakes from the Muirfield Village GC clubhouse. Great tournament, but we've been waiting an hour for a shuttle back to Zoo parking lot.

Awesome. It's huge so be prepared to walk and walk and walk. Can get super close to golfers without being obtrusive. I volunteered to work it through my job. So I actually worked on 3 different days and had a great time every day. So I will definitely volunteer again next year. Like I said before the only thing about this is that the golf course is huge so it takes a long time to walk from hole to hole to hole. That's okay because it's great exercise. Of course the best thing about this golf tournament is the course itself. It was made for the spectators in mind so just about no matter where you stand/sit/stop you have a good view of what's going on. Whether you are on The Fairway, The Tee or The Green. It is also great for getting close to the golfers, even when you are working. This year there was even a weather delay and a couple golfers walked right in front of me to the safe house so I got a couple of pics...Awesome. So by volunteering I got to go any day I wanted to to watch the actual tournament itself period so me and my man decided to go to the final round on Sunday. We had a great time following the golfers around besides getting rained on a couple of times it was awesome. My man doesn't even really like Golf and he had a great time and said "hey this is so much funner when you're actually here live instead of watching on TV. I couldn't agree more and I can't wait til next year. read more

The hospitality is impeccable. This tournament marks the 40th anniversary. Why is this important, it took lots of hosting these tournaments to turn this into an amazing event. The parking for the bears club (see more below) was at an off sight location that a shuttle was needed. The shuttle line was a little long but relatively quick.These shuttles were Ford Vans that carried no more than 9 seats, 10 with the driver. I attended the bears club on the 12th hole. A beautiful par 3. Cameron Mitchells partnered up to supply the food and beverages. The signature drinks included the Moscow mule, the strawberry crush, the grand slam, Paloma and cucumber crush. Food included pulled chicken and pork, mac and cheese, cole slaw, potatoe salad and kettle chips with French onion dip. The snacks in between included hummus, pita, cheese and crackers along with a light spread of sweets like chocolate chip cookies and brownies. I do wish that when you are part of the bears club that they allow you to take your drink with you if you wanted to walk the course. In other words, this tournament is in our back yard and a way we can get up and close with the players. read more

The memorial tournament is a Columbus classic and I can see why. Jack Nicklaus whom some consider the best golfer in the history of the game developed a golf course in Dublin's Muirfield Village, he decided to name the tournament the Memorial because the tournament happened right Memorial Day. Since moving to Columbus this has become my birthday ritual, going to the tournament on the Saturday and Sunday the final two days. The favorite place to park is the 19th hole which is a parking lot right across the street from the tee boxes on the 6th. The course is beautiful and there is great opportunity to interact with players including on the bridge where this year Tiger Woods walked right past me. In terms of food they have the usual sandwiches including Turkey Cheddar, Ham & Swiss and a vegetarian hoagie, the options for sides are limited to Conns Potato Chips, Pretzels, Jerky and Cheryl's Cookies. It is nice to see the Memorial use local products whenever possible. Beer options include Miller Lite and Summer Shandy, however I would like to see a local beer added to the tap. Bottled water cost a dollar more than a soda and a cup of ice cost a dollar. My advice is put on the walking shoes before going, I logged eight miles on Saturday following Tiger and also walking back to the car. Free Sunscreen is available at all Ohio Health tents if it's not out just ask and they will provide. read more

We've been to this event three times. Last two times we paid for Golden Bear Club access. After this years experience we would definitely not pay for Golden Bear anymore. They did not have the televised tournament on any of the many screens. Also, the place was way oversold, crowded. read more

I was lucky to have been able to enjoy three years of the Memorial Tournament while living in Columbus Ohio... A close friend is very good customer of US bank & they rent the house out off the 17th hole every year giving him a boat load of passes to attend... Every year I attended I would go on Sunday this way I would get a chance to enjoy any close or potential playoffs that may occur none of which ever did. The cool thing about being at this tournament is that the course itself is very awesome and gives you the opportunity to see some of your favorite golfers for me that was VJ Singh I was able to meet him during my first Memorial in 2003 on the 7 hole... In 2004 I was able to get my friend Derek of Pensacola a signature from the Lion himself John Daly he had just finished on the 18 and was heading in to turn in his scorecard when I shouted out "John I would give you this beer but I know you don't know me from dirt" he had chuckled and kept walking to turn in his card instead of continuing to the Clubhouse turned around and headed back my way... People were screaming at him to get an autograph but he had ignored them all and came back to me... John said that was pretty nice of you to offer me a beer what could I do for you... Shocked I said could you autograph a ball a friend of mine is a Die Hard fan of yours and would be very appreciative... He said no problem, and then was like what about you??? I said well if you want how about signing my beer cup that would look nice in my collection of Sports Autograph... He started to laugh and after asking my name wrote:" Chris Thanks for The Beer, John Daly". John wrapped up with a few more autographs and headed off to the Clubhouse... Class act I must say... All in all the course offers a great experience for those that have never seen golf up close, the concessions are priced to sell for all... If you ever have a chance to see the Memorial Tournament do so you won't regret it!!! read more

I can't believe I've never been to the Memorial before-- so glad to finally experience this Columbus gem! First, the course was beautiful. There were times I had to remind myself I was in Ohio. Not that I don't think Ohio has it's own beauty but... I just don't think "breathtaking" when I think about the central Ohio landscape. I heard someone say "The back nine are made for T.V." I don't know anything about golf. But it was worth going to peek at all the lush backyards of Muirfield residents, see the fashion (do's an don'ts), and enjoy the perfect weather. We had great visibility of the golfers. Even when Tiger was at the hole, it was easy enough to see. Not too crowded, but there were enough people to keep the energy high (but polite). It's no surprise that rules for spectators are strict, so check the lists of permitted and disallowed items before you head in. Food is pretty limited. I think there was a non-profit/charity group making the sandwiches. My chicken salad sandwich tasted homemade, but was a little wimpy and expensive. There's probably not much need to be too robust with the food (cuts down on trash on the course). And, people probably get their nibbles from their private party hub. We were able to park at the zoo (free) and then take a shuttle to the course (also free). This was a nice touch, though we did have some trouble navigating back to where we needed to catch the shuttle, and none of the volunteers around seemed to know how to help. If/when I go back, I definitely want to make sure I have an invite to one of the private parties. Let me know if you can get me in! read more

Headed over to Muirfield Village and the Memorial for the 3rd round (june 2), on a beautiful early summer morning....Entered at #12 entrance nestled in a Muirfield neighborhood, easy to get in and out of this entrance, used by the locals!!!....no lines, walked a short distance and set up for a while at #12 Par 3 with water and sand....beautiful hole and watched as some of the best players on the Tour walked literally inches away from me as they headed to 13....after a while decided to walk up the hill and set up camp at #11, another gorgeous hole that has actual seating, folding chairs, as well as concessions(light fare, sandwiches, beer, soda, water), there are servers that will serve you as you sit in the chairs at 11, if you don't want to sit in the chairs, you can get a closer look and sit right up to the green, where there are ropes separating you from play.....you can bring in chairs (simpler the better), but don't expect to bring any nice chairs into the gates, apparently i had an illegal chair that had a pocket on it, and cup holders, so I was forced to walk back to my car and drop off the chair...no biggie, not gonna ruin a great day at Dublin's Muirfield Village, watching the best players in the game....Personally it is one of the many great sporting events that annually occurs in Columbus, chance to see Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh, the list goes on and on.....Please if you get the chance purchase a badge for a round or practice round at Muirfield, great environment not overly crowded and definitely something you want to experience if you live in the Columbus area..... read more
