Ive been scouting…read moresome places for a girls golf day and drinks and after leaving a friends house in the area I saw this and hadn't been in so figured I'd stop to take a peek as the looks are scenic on the outside. Horrible decision. Upon entering the restaurant I was harassed by some drunk guy that apparently worked there. When I asked him if I knew him (I'm not from the area lol) he went off on some rant. Would not recommend and can see why the last time they got "best of" was 2021. Gives me creepy roofie vibes to be honest. Cheers

I show up 25 min early for my round, only to find out there is a 45 min delay due to frost. Not ideal, but I understand that can happen this time of year. I buy some range balls and go to hit them thinking I have an hour plus before my tee time. Well about 40 minutes later I get called to the tee box and have to leave half a bucket of range balls and didn't get to putt... great communication. We then proceed to take two hours and fifty minutes to play the front 9 as they were just sending people off as fast as they could to make up for the frost delay. Waiting 10-15 minutes on every hole to tee off, sometimes having 3 groups on a single tee box. It was the most miserable golfing experience I've ever had. I came in at the turn to ask for my money back, as I didn't want to take another 3 hours to play nine holes, and we very likely wouldn't have finished before the sun went down anyway. Instead of being apologetic about how poorly handled the day was on their part, I was treated with rudeness and disrespect. I live almost an hour away from this course, so I was already pretty upset I drove all that way only to play 9 holes. I was then told that I couldn't have my money back for the holes we didn't play because "they don't do that here". Instead I was offered $27.50 in credit that was only good until "the end of the season". Considering the season is effectively over now, I was basically told to go kick rocks due to their ineptitude as a golf course. One of the most infuriating encounters I've ever had.

We had a group go around us and the 3some that was playing in front of us because they were playing so slow. Condition-3 grounds under repair on two holes. Some of the tee boxes were in need of some work. Greens were well maintained but not perfect. Some bunkers had small rocks in them. Facilities/Amenities-4 Practice range, chipping/ putting green Newer clubhouse with an outdoor patio And a small bar, minimal food and snacks. Older carts Challenge of course-3 Overall Play-Tough course There were 2 holes that I felt were unnecessarily difficult with the design. A par 3 that set upon a hill with a valley below and trees surrounding it. A 4 that could've easily been a par 5. Majority of the holes were doglegs so you really don't need to play driver off tee. Challenge came from hazards mainly all the trees. In depth review This course is one six public courses in Columbus. As someone from Northeast Ohio, Summit county specifically, I've realized just how spoiled we are with quality public courses. However, I will say, Champions gives some of the best courses in our area a run for their money. This course offers some significantly challenging holes while complementing the difficulty with some truly stunning views. While this course didn't have much water there were a fair amount of trees and sand bunkers. Most of the courses played on downhill slopes. There were also several doglegs that presented opportunities to go off the tee with clubs other than driver. On course play alone I would recommend champions but they also come equipped with a newly renovated clubhouse, patio, driving range, and chipping and putting green. The clubhouse staff were cordial but not overlay friendly. Thea starter gave great tips and explanations for the cart path rules. Recommendations to the course staff: The only issue I had with the course was that they had 2 holes with grounds under repair that took up about 30 yards of the fairway. But they did provide signs that let you know how far to get to that area and how far to clear. My issue was that they just hosted the USGA Junior tournament and that had to be an issue for those players. Also, I don't think that any course should be charging the full amount while there's major repairs going on. If I don't get the full experience then there should be some sort of discount. That's just my humble opinion. This is more common practice at courses in northeast Ohio. Overall: I would go back to see the course fully repaired and hope there isn't a ton wind.

Great drinks list for beer, wine, cocktails, and mixers. Great menu...the pizza has in house made crust and sauce! I am so glad this place weathered the pandemic storm of 2020. In fact, we used the outdoor sections of this place even in the mask wearing days. They would turn on outdoor heaters and a large flatscreen to let us enjoy a semblance of normalcy during difficult times. We owe it to these types of small businesses to show them love now that normalcy is returning. Do I play darts or cornhole? No. But you can, because they have the supplies. Do I play the jukebox? Yes, frequently. I hope you enjoy the tunes while we all enjoy the drinks, food, ambiance...and golf of course. The golf. (Which you can ignore, as it is in a separate part of the venue.) But check this place out and realize there is another hidden gem in Grandview. Fore! Or pour (more beer).

The only true issue I saw with the course was the greens had a ton of spike marks and ball marks which the players should take care of fixing when they arrive and leave the green. I, being a fan of beautiful courses, always look to repair my ball mark and found myself repairing 3/4 more every hole which is sad but not a big deal. However it was still a fantastic day and experience. The course is tight and short. If you keep it in the fairway you can score here however make sure you take advantage of the putting green before the round. Other than Oakmont, I have never played on greens this fast which I actually enjoyed. This is a "must play" course in Ohio and also the Midwest. The staff is very friendly and the beauty of the course is high level. Will definitely play it again when the opportunity arises.

I am not a member, but have had the opportunity to eat meals here or use the facilities off and on over the past 10 or 12 years- and I quite like it! I married into a family who grew up going to this club and many of our friends have connections as well. I must admit I get a chuckle out of the fact that SO many members (and "wanna be" members) view Scioto as the center of the universe. I don't take it too seriously. On the other hand, I also take scathing criticisms of Scioto Country Club with a grain of salt. Its Donald Ross golf course is often ranked among the top 100 courses in the country. Not to mention, Bobby Jones golfed here and Jack Nicklaus honed his skills at SCC. How could one not appreciate that tidbit of sports history? As for my own personal rating, let's just say it falls somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars... I never felt overwhelmed or intimidated by Scioto Country Club. Frankly, I've been to a lot swankier clubs, where the facilities are terribly posh and members are far snobbier, so I guess the experience is all relative. I've had numerous holiday meals, brunches and buffets here and find the food to be top notch. Never a bad meal and from what I recall, reasonably priced (if you don't count the atrocious membership fees). I couldn't justify spending the type of money it requires to be a member here, but it could be a neat place to to have access to- if you can afford it. Either way, Columbus is fortunate to have such a nice, storied country club in it's city limits, but Scioto certainly is not the center of the universe.
