A nice go-to place for a fancy dinner in a cozy and warm environment. The food is great and the menu changes every once in a while so there's always something new or different to try out but the quality is always great. We had duck breast, seafood pasta, mussels, seared tuna and a creme brulee...and everything was perfect. Service is very inviting, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place if you're in the Burlington area either for lunch or dinner. There is parking in the area and availability will depend on the season and if there are any other activities happening near the lake. Regardless of what you do in the area, Martini House will be a nice and inviting place for you to go and check out for a meal or a casual catch-up with friends at the bar. read more

Had the Malibu Martini tonight. Tried the lobster bisque which was the soup of the day. It was creamy, flavorful and very good. Good price at $9. However there was no lobster meat. Tried the lobster croquette and asian nacho as tapas tonight. Both were good especially the asian macho. The lobster croquettes were creamy ann's didn't seemed to be seasoned very well. Found this place through Yelp as we were way out of our area in Burlington. Turns out this is a cool town with an amazing variety of foodie choices. As usual our Yelp friends are spot on - not only did they have a HUGE selection of martinis, but they had great food - and we enjoyed it out on the deck. The most interesting event of the evening was an older couple trying to park their car on the street just off the deck - after hitting the car behind them three (3) times, my wife headed down to stop them Free entertainment is always nice! The menu has some really neat and tasty choices, and we were very happy with the service - attentive but not overbearing. Back to the food - we began with some fresh chilled oysters and a charcuterie platter - both perfect for sharing on this unusually warm spring night. We ordered a couple of bottles of white wine to go with this and were off to a great start! For my entree I really enjoyed the SZECHUAN DRAGON NOODLES - skillet seared AAA steak and fresh broccoli florets, medium szechuan "heat" with an Asian flare, over Shanghai noodles. Not too hot, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. A couple of other of our party had the steak - FILET MIGNON - Canadian beef tenderloin aged steak, with a spiced Guinness reduction, sautéed mushrooms, with smoky cheddar & lobster whipped potatoes. The boldest of our group went for the SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN - buttermilk and garlic marinated chicken breast, fried crisp with an Alabama inspired porcini cream sauce over our house fingerling potatoes. Chat after a martini and of course wine with dinner. Absolutely a beautiful presentation of the best in food and surrounded with a medley of vegetables, fiddle heads and grapefruit. Shared dessert crepe was generous and best ever ending to perfect meal and serving. Look no further for fine dining. My first and only choice when in town. What a comeback to dining out. I've been to the martini house quite a few times. I can't believe I have never written a review before. Love, love The Martini House for girls nights. The location is great - downtown Burlington, directly across from the public parking lot. It is always very easy to make a reservation - online or over the phone. They are also very accommodating. On more than one occasion I have asked for a table upstairs where it is quieter and every time they have been able to give us a table up there. Naturally, their martini list is huge. A lot of them come with some sort of candy in them - Jolly Rancher or a lollipop. My favourite is Ass Candy. It comes with cotton candy on top. So good! I've tried quiet a few of the appetizers and they don't disappoint. My favourites are: the charcuterie board, crispy calamari, braised beef yorkies, edamame and my absolute favourite ever - toasted almond and baked brie. I always get the same thing for dinner because it's just that good - the fig and prosciutto pizza with extra fig jam. I love that the crust is thin and crispy. There's a perfect amount of prosciutto. Honestly, it can't get any better than that! My girls and I always order a creme brule for dessert. It's a classic and always delicious! Love that they bring out a plate of cotton candy for the table at the end of the meal. It's probably half the reason why we come here regularly. In my travels I forgot to mention this place. On Boxing Day my gf and I decided to visit here after finding out that Honey West (a place I had been dying to go to) didn't have a chef for the evening. Walking down Elizabeth Street in Downtown Burlington and noticed this place was open and decided to visit. With a historic feeling to this establishment, you walk into the bar/lounge area, it is very small. There was a small seating area in the bar watching a small tv with the World juniors playing in the background. I was at first a little put off by the fact the majority of their menu had shellfish, which I am allergic to. So it was either the main menu or their tapas menu. After several iterations and various return visits by the waitress, we decided upon the tapas menu. We shared the baked brie, lamb martini, and asian nachos. The cutest tapas item was the lamb martini. It was served of course in a martini glass with garlic mashed potatoes and there was a minty flavoured topping. It was delicious. Don't get me wrong. The other items were delicious too. I would definitely visit this restaurant again and hopefully it will be on a holiday weekend. HAHA!! read more

Went here with a few childhood friends for a reunion dinner. It was a Monday so they had $12 pasta specials, which both my friends ordered and really enjoyed. I went for the salmon on the recommendation of our waitress. It was cooked beautifully with a really flavourful hoisin maple glaze. The vegetables it came with were grilled nicely, although a bit lacking in flavour, and the wild rice was slightly hard/dried out in some spots. We split a bottle of Velvet Devil Merlot - I'd never even heard of this wine before but I really enjoyed it! Great tasting food. It is expensive and fancy, so you should know going in there and expect to pay a bit more than you would elsewhere. I had the seafood pasta which I would definitely recommend. I went here for lunch yesterday with my dining group. It was our first stop on the Taste of Burlington event. i had been here before and had tried a few of the numerous martinis offered ( this list seems endless) Atmosphere- It is a located in an older red brick home with an extensive patio that is lovely to sit on in the summer. Inside is divided up nto rooms. Each room has groups of smaller tables. White table cloths and beautifully set tables were in order when we arrived. Food- The group as a whole tried every option on the Taste of Burlington menu - An appetizer, main, and dessert for $20. Appetizers- 1)Roasted butternut with Asiago, brandy and braised apple soup with herb butter and spinach- Really smooth but some more spice could have been added ( nutmeg or garlic--- anything) 2) bhel puri salad and coriander pesto puffed wheat noodles with tomatoes and tamarind-I was told it sounds better than it tasted. Not a wow! but good.3) romaine and kale salad - again. No wow factor but good. Mains included 4) grilled mozzarella cheese with prosciutto, tomato and chill on sourdough - Great sandwich and very filling 5)Tandoori chicken naan wrap with with mint chutney- very good and fresh cilantro 6) Salmon burger topped with smoked lemon salmon with roasted red pepper mango chutney- This was the favourite. This had Wow! appeal in looks and taste. Desserts included-7) vanilla creme brule- excellent and double sized. 8) apple bread pudding and ice cream- good but the creme brule trumped it by far. They ended the meal with their special cotton candy at the table . after the creme brule no one really needed more sugar but it looks so nice on the table. Service- Efficient but very busy ( i guess fr the Taste of Burlington) No time for extras. The courses came out fast, fresh and hot. Waitress not overly friendly today but she was extremely busy. Walked in to no host and had to wait for one of the bartenders to ask if we could sit on the patio. Looked like there was only 2 bartenders serving the entire restaurant so it took a bit to get acknowledged. One of them finally brought out some menus and asked to take our order. Old fashions were good (6.5/10). Bartender did not come back to check on us and we had to go inside to get our bill. Weather was fantastic, wish I could say the same about the patio chairs. Hello Yelp! This is my first time writing a review so bear with me here -- my friend and I are university students, which means we do not have money to waste. Unfortunately, that's what happened during our visit at the Martini House. I spent $24 on the pasta, which I expected to contain at least a portion of food. Instead, I got six pieces of pasta surrounded with garnishes -- a total rip off. It was basically an expensive snack and my friend and I were still hungry after, so we went to the Queen's Head and got an actual meal that was worth our money. If I wanted to eat six, sad pieces of Pasta, I would have simply cooked it at home myself. read more

In a town full of lousy restaurants, this one is an exception. The cozy atmosphere is great for a romantic dinner and the upstairs room is perfect for a get together with friends, just call ahead first. It gets busy. The martinis are great and surprisingly good value. The service is friendly and welcoming. The food was also very good. We started with a couple dozen oysters, that they get from a local fish monger. They tasted fresh and were large. The baked brie was warm and gooey, a great sharing plate with friends. The charcuterie plate was really the only disappointment of the night. Some of the meats, were not of great quality and it lacked accoutrements. We also had the lamb meatballs as a starter which made up for the charcuterie plate. Our group had everything from the veal chop to a burger to the shanghai noodles for their main course and everyone reported how good the food was. Not really worth it. The service while not bad was barely "ok". It took too long to get our drink orders, not just once but every time we ordered new drinks. It took so long I was wondering if they were distilling the alcohol themselves when it was ordered. Which then leads me to the horribly bland cocktails. By far the worst was my Manhattan. It was totally devoid of any sweet vermouth, and cherry flavours. And I think The Martini house found the most tasteless whisky ever made. Considering the prices of the cocktails(approx $10-$12), totally unacceptable. The food was again, just "ok". We started off with the arancini, which was "ok" but nothing outstanding, and the bruschetta which was also just "ok". We originally wanted to order the the bahama heat, but were informed it wasn't available that night. For mains my wife had the pasta primavera, again, "ok" (notice the trend here). I had the pasta feature that included beef in a mustard based sauce. Guess what.....it was "ok". For desert we shared the creme brulee. It's served in a dish way too big. Because of this the custard was very shallow in the bottom so the ratio of brulee to creme was horribly off. 18% automatic gratuity for groups. I know that the vast majority of establishments do this but it really bothers me. Specifically this night when the food and service didn't EARN the 18%. They deserved maybe 10%. Thank you Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals for not passing your own bills through the House(ELIMINATION OF AUTOMATIC TIPS ACT, 2010 ) Our biggest issue with The Martini House is the price. Not that it's expensive, it's not at all. It's that in my opinion the price does not reflect the quality of the food(and to a lesser degree, the service). A glaring example was my pasta. It was $25. For one dollar less at $24 I could have had possibly the best pasta ever made at Scarpetta in Toronto. That restaurant is in a class far above the Martini house. It was great though how we had the top floor to ourselves(being a larger group we took over the floor). Going through the main level on our way out we noticed it was much much louder (probably would have been hard to carry on a good conversation at those volumes) And we got a chuckle of watching what looked like to be a group of boozed up cougars hanging out at the bar. Previous reviewer, Kiran S., compared the food to Kelsy's. I say that's bang on! So I say go there for dinner instead and save a few dollars. Finally another hidden gem found. It's not every day that find a restaurant so nice. Even they don't know it. When I told our server that the food was fantastic she was surprised of my exaggerated reaction to every Tapa dish. First of all it's very small and split into a bar and seated restaurant areas. Perfectly dimmed to set a relaxing mood. The variety of carefully prepared dishes is great and surprisingly they come fast. The food comes on rectangular flat plates and so well presented almost like art work in a picture frame. Bottom line the food is outstanding. Met some girlfriends for lunch on the weekend. It was sunny and warm so we enjoyed the outdoor seating. Amazing martinis! We each tried a different entree on the Taste of Burlington menu and there were no complaints. However, I had the white fish and scallop "burger". It was a fish and scallop cake on a small round of bread. It was good but not a burger. The mango salad starter was also nice even though the mango was pretty sparse. For dessert I had the cheesecake trio which was alright but it was room temperature. Overall, the food was 3 stars. I gave an extra star because our server was excellent. read more

Far as Resto's in Burlington go TMH almost has it all together. First off I like the fact that it's more the "mature" crowd. (our kids are over at Honey West!) poor them, the kids I mean! The cocktails are stellar, the servers do their absolute best considering the tight quarters. That's where the almost comes in. The food is good leaning towards really good but it can be hit and miss. If you're lucky enough to remember to make a rez and you get a good table it's a very enjoyable evening. God help you if you're a walk in especially on a thurs/fri or saturday night. I like it and wish I owned points in this place.
