The resort is on beautiful Lake Winnapasaukee in Laconia, New Hampshire. Great location and near commercial area - Supermarket and restaurants nearby. Resort is clean and overall decent. The indoor pool and hot tub is nice. They have a restaurant on site that serves breakfast. There is a lakeside bar and grill that is very nice. There is complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. There is a microwave available in the common area. We certainly do not have the same expectations as a national resort system like a Marriott, but thought that for the price, the resort would be more updated. The staff is wonderful-they work hard at keeping the place clean.

Door to building with guest rooms

The two stars are for the staff, who were excellent in every way. The property itself was a disappointment in every way. Dated, grungy, sometimes barely functional: The shower knob in our bathroom stuck so that only scorching hot water came out The door of our room was warped so that we had to hip check it violently to get it to open or close Carpets were filthy Furnishings were dated and dowdy I was charged $300 per night with a two night minimum because we were there for a wedding. Over $700 for a dump. I've stayed in Motel 6 with better amenities and condition. Our friends stayed at a small hotel about five minutes away that was a fraction of the cost and twice as nice. Do not recommend his property at all. Staff was lovely, everything else was hot garbage.

My moms injuries

shut this place down!! my mother is a sufferer of copd. she was forced to crawl out of the bathroom screaming for help. no one helped her!! this place is a dump!! they wanted us to look for a different hotel. they said they could not replicate what happened. i have pictures of her injuries. we will never return. pictures will be posted. we will not be silenced!!

This place was gross. We stayed here on Bike Week and paid $300 over the regular rate. One would expect that at that rate you would get a nice room. Not so! The room was gross. The vanity in the bathroom was broken. The Vent was caked with dirt & dust & the ceiling was moldy. The bathroom reeked of urine odor. The wallpaper was peeling in bathroom and bedroom. The curtains to the fake balcony were filthy. Shame on you Margate!

Disgusting elevator

The condition of the rooms and hotel itself is disgusting. We've never stayed at a hotel that is falling apart like this. Furniture is extremely worn down. Our toilet seat didn't even have enamel left on it. This room was advertised on the website as 'newly renovated.' Our room was dusty and unclean with other people's hair all over. The building is old and creaky and we could hear very loud plumbing noises all night. Kelsey, the manager, told my wife that the room conditions and noise weren't acceptable when shown photos and that we would receive some compensation when she spoke to her in person but as soon as we were gone, Kelsey said via email that we would receive no rate adjustment. We paid $430 for two nights and I would say this room is not worth even $90 a night. We were hoping to work with management to find a solution and make them aware of the room's issues so that other people didn't deal with the same problems, but they weren't not interested in that. Just lying to your face to get rid of you.

I was a little disappointed in the Margate, I won't lie. The week prior to our stay, my friend who plans out our vacations asked an employee via phone if they have two person canoes and the person replied that they had two of them. She was very excited, but when we got there, they did NOT have them out, they were "unusable". I would say that the food was good and came in big portions. But I would NOT suggest the pool. My family went to the pool a couple nights ago and we were all very dissatisfied. The pool itself was not the problem. 3 dozen+ children (around the ages of 10-14) running around the pool and jumping in, making a humongous amount of noise, we told someone up front but they did nothing. They were completely ok with the fact these children were running around, driving customers away, and throwing balls that were hitting people and windows. Another thing that was semi annoying was the rules about the paddle board. Before renting out one of there paddle boards, it is not worth your money. It is 12 dollars per hour (which is ok), but you must stay in a certain area and children under 14 cannot go out without an adult. This area that they have put out is extremely small for paddlboarding and very shallow(I'm 5'2' and I could stand flatfoot) WiFi was horrible so if you don't have data it will not help at all. The balcody on the beach level floor was annoying. There wasn't really a balcony, just a small (like, less than a foot of space) space and a bush placed right in front. I will say the firework were spectacular

Since this is a family resort. Is the beach non smoking area?

Tanya, thank you for asking. Because of the size of the property and the sizable outdoor areas that our property has to offer, smoking is allowed in some areas of the resort. There are smoking areas in designated spots near the entrances to some… Read more

And why is the hotel found on Yelp as Tranquility Springs because the spa is inside the Opechee Inn, but okay. So tonight, after several different visits to the restaurant and hotel gift shop (since Chaos and Kindness moved downtown--this is the only gift shop within walking distance to us), unfortunately, I am not thrilled with the hotel. Typically, while we wait for O Steaks restaurant to open, we sit quietly in the 'lodge room' or outside of the hotel entrance (under cover) for a few minutes. The restaurant opens at 4pm and since my husband had a stroke three years ago, we have to take our time walking. We have never had an issue, nor are there any signs saying "hotel guests only," so we rest in the lodge room (which is adjacent to the side door to the restaurant inside the hotel)--until today. We are reasonable people. And because I knew we got there even earlier than usual today, I specifically bought something at the gift shop ($15 Christmas gift for a family member), as a gesture of gratitude for being able to sit in the air conditioning in that EMPTY side room. So, here comes some hotel woman in just as we were getting ready to leave the room and enter O Steaks and asked if we were staying at the hotel. I replied no, that we're locals and were just waiting on the restaurant to open. THEN she informed us that they want to save the room for hotel guests! Ugh. Okay. Save the empty room! I was shocked and annoyed. We went to the restaurant immediately. But I will never go back into the Inn again. Believe it.

I found Lake Opechee on Expedia and went for it. The room was really big and nice. Two queen beds for me and me, a refrigerator, TV, seating area, desk, etc. On my first morning I had to be somewhere at 8am so I stopped at their free breakfast. I'm not sure what others are complaining about. There was coffee, tea, muffins, cereal, milk, yogurt, etc. It was fine. The employees I interacted with were all friendly. Cons would be the shower was a bit small, the water pressure was a little low, and my room was on the restaurant side of the building and there was some noise from that as the restaurant gets quite busy. One more thing I would add is the window coverings do not offer to blackout the morning light so plan on not having full darkness. All in all a very nice stay. Not cheap but nice!

You cant do everything in one building but one building does have more amenities than the other... We were in the other building. What does that mean? Its winter break and we are here for the pool area. We had to drive over which means we had to drive back in the cold after being wet. I did not like this. It also meant wearing slides in the snow (cold and super wet toes!) The other building also has the shop, grilled, game area and pin pong tables! What did we have? A smaller pool area with an outdoor hot tub and the hilltop restaurant. I can share, overall we did like the smaller pool better. People were friendlier and it just felt more fun. Also, taking our little guy in the hot tub in the snow was fun! A few things that need improvement: - outdated room decor $300 a night - at check it was not shoveled and there were like 5 inches on the ground - at 10am the stairs to the pond were not shoveled (hours after the snow ended) and the benches for skate zip up is walk down a snow covered small hill into the abyss to the pond. Aka what are you walking on in skates? Is it safe? We have no idea. We ended up tredging down on foot and sitting on the ice to put our skates on. Nice amenity but not well thought out or taken care of - where is the sledding on property? We don't know we just made our own paths down to the pond. - the Hilltop is not worth visiting (check reviews)

Although we didn't dine at Blue Bistro back then, they came highly recommended. They did not disappoint. We booked the reservation and told them that we were recreating our honeymoon and unbeknownst to us Trishana, our hostess had decorated our table with confetti hearts and "happy anniversary " confetti pieces. She also made a card for us wishing us a happy anniversary. I was in tears. From there our server, Shaven was amazing. He made sure that our experience was special and gave great recommendations for our meal. Patrick's across the street has a great dinner. There's a laundromat and a wine store in that same mall. The suite we stayed in was older but very big with a full kitchen, living room and bedroom which is what I was looking for. The sofa bed was kind of bent out of shape but they have brand new plush mattress toppers. This is like staying in a condo, with a physical metal key. Elaine (I think that was her name) was so nice and I felt like I was visiting her house, she was so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast is grab and go; breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, fruit cups, instant oatmeal, cereal/milk, muffins, granola bars etc, all prepackaged food. Honestly it was great that they even offered that. There's a convenience store across the street that you can buy food if you have a kitchen if you want to make hot prepared food.
