Ok so I went here for a Tejano show, which are typically dance events. The Marc is not configured for this. There are no tables or chairs, its just two bars separated by a medium-sized space.i.e there is nowhere to put your drinks if you want to dance etc. You will be on your feet the entire time. For non-dancing type concerts it might be ok. No chairs either unless you spring for the upstairs VIP areas. I really cant emphasize it enough that there is absolutely nowhere to set your drinks down. This really became an issue as the night went on. Its located in "the Square" in downtown San Marcos, so there are bars everywhere. I Ubered there so I cant speak to the parking situation. The bartenders and bouncers were all pretty nice, no complaints with them at all. The bar takes cards, so that was a definite positive. I paid $10 for top shelf margaritas, which is a great price. read more

They took my real id and made me pay back for it then when the cops tried to help they didn't do anything, then their smug ass bartender gave me shit. He's a bully and this place is a scam read more

Their employees illegally block parking spots in front of their venue. Incident happened 12/12 at roughly 9:45pm. Placed cones when cones were removed they physically stood in the spaces. Please reach out to me via my email and I will change my review. Not the owners fault, I know how hard it is to manage a buncha kids. Not sure how to reach management other then this. read more

Worst service I've ever experienced..we waited for 30 minutes for bottle service & never got our bottle & not to mention it's a Thursday night they are not busy at all. we asked for a refund & the bartender was just giving us attitude . Hey do you want to spend 7 Hours standing in a Vape Cloud in a stagnant hot room while alcohol is spilled all over you while you wait for your favorite singer to come on? Even the singer was upset he had to perform here..... It's been 24 hours and I still taste the vape in my mouth from the awfulness. Multiple girls in the packed crowd suffered from heat stroke. It's just terrible. I wish I could give it 0 Stars. read more

Subject: Disappointing Experience at The Marc I am writing this letter to express my profound disappointment following my recent experience at your establishment, The Marc. I believe it is essential to provide feedback so that improvements can be made for the benefit of both patrons and the venue itself. Firstly, the overall atmosphere and ambiance of the club was terrible. It seemed as though the club's décor and furnishings were outdated, giving off an impression of neglect. Moreover, the service at The Marc was by far from satisfactory. A random female (employee) came up to me and told me " cute blouse " and then asked me if my boyfriend was bothering me. I told her NO he's my boyfriend! Shortly after, the security shoved & pushed my boyfriend out after 40 minutes of arrival because he apparently was not their kind. Not to mention my entire party dropped $90 for the entry fee.** The staff appeared apathetic and uninterested, which negatively impacted the overall experience. It was challenging to get their attention or receive prompt service, resulting in long waits at the bar for drinks. The entire experience at The Marc was a complete joke and avoid this place at all cost because they didn't bother to refund us our entry fee $$! Furthermore, the music selection and sound system were subpar. The sound system itself was inadequate, with distorted music and inconsistent volume levels in different parts of the club, leading to a disjointed experience. Lastly, I am disheartened to mention the lack of cleanliness and maintenance observed during my visit. The floors were sticky, and the restrooms were unkempt, creating an unsanitary and uncomfortable environment for guests. I understand that every establishment has its off nights, but the combination of the aforementioned issues severely impacted my night at The Marc. As a customer, I expected a more memorable and enjoyable experience, but unfortunately, that was not the case. I hope that this feedback is taken constructively as an opportunity for improvement. To regain the trust of your patrons, it is crucial to assess and address these glaring issues. By focusing on the atmosphere, service, drinks and, music selection, and overall cleanliness, The Marc can reclaim its reputation and provide a more enjoyable experience for future patrons. Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback, and I sincerely hope that the necessary changes are made to bring The Marc back to its full potential. Best regards, read more

So I went on a Monday night for a taping of The Texas Music Scene. Admission was free and we got to see Gary P. Nunn and Kevin Fowler perform several songs. There were a couple of hundred people in there and only one bar was open, but they seemed to serve pretty quick. There is an upstairs area that you can hang out in and look down on the stage and the crowd below, or you can actually get down on the floor (which is quite spacious as well). Bars downstairs and upstairs on regular nights. The sound was great and I would definitely go back for a regular concert. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. read more

Don't ask how much vip seating is. I swear to GOD Asked how much it was and the dude felt like shoving me for no reason I poked the guy and he's like don't put your hands on me I'm like "huh" (loud music). MF shoves me again "I said don't put your fucking hands on me " nearly makes me fall down the stairs so I throw him down the stairs (I'm 6'4"300lbs. Lil mans like 5'7" ) starts to attempt to choke me out I'm like "bro are you seriously about to do this ". then the team pulls up I tell them to chill. Lucky for lil man everyone's chills and I walk out. Someone check napoleon Fr because I've been a bouncer before and if I had to tell someone to turn around I wouldn't be an dipshit about it and shove people who are trying to buy VIP. All I can say is if you come here ... use cash.... or expect a large gratuity added to your bill. It's sad how low this place has stooped ( or just the bartenders perhaps) to make an extra dollar or two. The manager was as helpful as he could be but I definitely would keep an eye on these bartenders . read more

I LOVED this place. Idk what all the bad reviews are about, but the drinks are pretty cheap, and the vibes are good.

Bottle service last night for my birthday. Wanted to have an area for myself and friends. The Marc has great potential however the club manager (if there is one) needs to be there on a Saturday night activity looking where it could improve. I could go on and on however if The Marc wants my input they can ask me. My party of about 15 we're happy aside from having to go to the bar when I mentioned the "VIP" and being able to skip that. So yea having my guest have to keep leaving to get beer and shots wasn't fun but we paid the $200 and I wrote my review. The corner I did get was nice however there should be a bouncer only allowing the party guest up. I was given Wrist bands for my party but they weren't good for anything. The MC was really good and the music was my genre of music so of course we made the best of the night. I hope that MC makes good money there because that's the only reason I'd be going back and that's where my fair 2 stars go to. Sorry Marc but you guys have missed "The Marc" on this one for me and my guest. I'm willing to update my review should I be given the opportunity to go back on the house otherwise I'm good! $40 entrance fee then they hit you with another $5 charge just to stand and bop your heads to horrible music. Will never come back after this experience read more

I've been coming here a while and it's been great. A concert I went to a few weeks ago though made my tinnitus so bad. The bass was wayyy to high for what it should have been at. I was even wearing earplugs and now it's been so bad. I don't even know how to feel. read more

The men that work here insisted on keeping the door to the women's restroom wide open and kept looking in there and when we explained that's not cool, he and the other men that worked there yelled at us. First NYE living in San Marcos and heard this place was offering "bottle service." I've always done VIP, mostly in Las Vegas, because of the convenience of having your own server and area to sit, dance, etc. Before making the reservations I was assured what I would be paying for (besides alcohol) included a table for six and personal "bottle girl." What we actually got was a table with three chairs, a mixer GLASS that was broken, a plastic cup as an ice scooper, trips to the bar to order shots because no one was taking care of us, and the pleasure of making each and every drink. Maybe these people don't understand what VIP and bottle service is or how it's done, but they definitely need help in that area. Cool venue, good music, good DJ's, cute security, horrible service. read more

The Marc - These were our mixers waiting for us when we arrived. - Music Venues Near Me - San Marcos, Texas

I went on a Tuesday night where they have 1.25 tequila and was over charged by a drunken bartender. The bartenders are really slow and usually intoxicated or coked out. It gets super crowded like they don't keep track of how many people enter. Otherwise the music is ok. read more

This was the second time that I had seen a show at the Marc. This venue has a rustic country feel. Both times I've seen shows here they've been country shows. The night of the Jason Abbott show my friends and I were able to purchase VIP bottle service seating which was awesome. Not only were we elevated above the crowded GA standing room only section, but we also had a private bathroom and bar on our level. There was comfy seating and plenty of room to move around. The sound quality is great in this live music venue. It's a short 45 minute drive from Austin and is in a really cute college town. Would highly recommend this spot for any TX country fans to go see a live music show. read more

Seriously, the WORST venue in the world. This place sucks balls! They oversell shows to the point where you can't even move! Anywhere in the entire place I would try to stand to watch Cody Jinks was met with "You can't be here. You can't stand here. This is my wife's spot but she's not here right now." Literally that was my ENTIRE NIGHT. I DIDNT EVEN GET TO SEE CODY JINKS PLAY BECAUSE I WAS ARGUING THE WHOLE TIME W PPL WHO "OWNED" THE SQUARE FOOT OF CONCRETE BENEATH THEIR FEET. Almost punched that mf. Most horrible bullshit concert experience OF MY LIFE. read more

I will never come to another show here. I felt like I was back in Cancun circa 1992. Either that or a wedding that I'd leave if I had the first opportunity. This horrible DJ, for an hour plus, in between bands, was trying to get the crowd amped for a band that was nothing like the style that he was playing. read more

I went on Tuesday for 1$ dos and when I asked to close out my tab I was charged 50$. When asking the bartender what was going on because no way should I have been charged that much(like how many beers could i of bought) he had an attitude with me but said he voided it and only charged me 10$ which would of been correct. Checking my bank statement, the bartender didn't void it out, instead he waited till I walked away to charge me back the 50$. I've tried calling but no one answers or has time to talk to me. The bartender are rude and looking at other reviews people's tabs get overly charged all the time. My suggestion is never leave a tab open at this establishment read more

Went to a show here. I had a tab open went to close it and was told by the bartender that I didn't have a tab and I was good. This place has way too many bad reviews for how good of a job they do. They do a really good job hosting events, I've never ordered a section or bottle service so I can't speak for them on that however every time I go to the Marc it always has the best vibes. Plenty of room to dance, nice bartenders, great audio staff, great management. Not enough people applaud their hard work, so I'm just gonna take a moment to say thanks to all the people working at the Marc that make my college years memorable. You guys are the best!! read more

Worst sound system ever. Literally no bass. Only some songs sound good here. Not a good venue to see a rap artist. Will not be going back.

I went to go have a good time and experience this establishment for the first time this last weekend. We had a group of about 15 people, all well over the age of 21. About half way through our group, the door man said one of my friends needed a college ID to get in. This was not her first time there and we all graduated a long time ago. But we were told that we could not enter if we did not have a college I.d. card. As we stood there waiting for a manager (who never came) the same door man let every other person in after us without a college ID. He said " I can tell who is in college and who isn't." Which is funny because I'm 28 and just graduated last Dec. Because I was military first and got a late start. This place will never get my business EVER. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE DISABLED! There are no accommodations & the owner goes on a power trip I drove 30 hour round trip just to go to a show here and be harassed the whole time by the owner and security. I'm disabled and federal ADA (Americans with disabilities Act) law requires venues to have a safe space for disabled people to sit & see the show. Well I asked the venue for a chair and a safe space & the owner got so mad at me. Yelling at me to 'call the feds' because he doesn't care about accommodating the disabled to federal standards. I have debilitating fatigue and a handful of other issues, since they denied me a chair I sat on the floor for a breather, security came up to me and told me I wasn't allowed to sit on the ground despite me explaining it was a medical issue. There was one nice security guard who noticed me crying and distressed & he brought me a stool, just for the owner to order another employee to take it away from me! After more crying the nice security guard was able to set me a stool near the merch stand. A handful more security guards harassed me for sitting through out the show. I would give zero stars for the venue if I could. read more

Tonight I wanted to go out with my two very close friends from out of town. I was so excited to see them and have a great night out but things went awry very quickly. First off, the bouncers were rude-- but we just took that as having to deal with people with fake ids-- so we finally get in, and go to the bar and things got bleak. We couldn't get anyone to take our drink order, the bartenders would hunt out the people in large groups as to not worry about us single ladies. Tonight took a step back in history. read more

Love this place. Always have a good time when I'm there. Best music on the square in my opinion...and cheap drinks!

The Marc has Dollar dos and dollar tequila shots on Tuesdays ! ITS LIT. They also always have really great shows :))))

The sound system isn't anything special but it does the job. It usually pretty busy later on in the night. Last time I was there a guy was throwing up all over the place. On the floor, on people, on me. I saw people working there just watching it happen. He then proceeded to go to the bar to buy a shot. I will not be back. read more

Way too loud, not my style. Maybe I'm not young enough to enjoy it. Will not be coming back here anytime soon

Seriously super upset with The Marc! I purchased 2 tickets to Rich Homie Quan. We got in BUT we had to pay a cover charge of 10$, although we had already purchased 30 dollar tickets!!! We then went out to go check our car making sure we didn't get towed and to smoke a cigarette. But, before we just walked out I had asked the guy working if we'd be able to get back in and he said "Yes, just you'll have to go through the line." and so we did! When we got to the front we weren't allowed to come in, the guy said " it's only 21 and up"! The Marc wasted my time and money but more importantly my time in which I can never get back! I will NEVER buy another ticket to this venue again. read more

Bought tickets for an 8:30pm show, showed up a few minutes after to avoid the line and found a huge line with zero staff directing it. Waited outside until almost 10pm with still no word from the staff on when the show would start or when they could let us in. This is the worst venue I've ever been to and would not recommend going there. read more

WARNING CREDIT CARD FRAUD BY BARTENDER. READ OTHER REVIEWS THIS IS A COMMON PRACTICE FOR THEM. My daughter went here on 7/25/2019. She ordered one last drink before leaving. She had left a cash tip. When she went to close out her tab she only signed the receipt and forgot to scratch through the tip line or total the bill. She gets her credit card statement a few days later and the bartender had given himself a 40% tip. The manager said the bartenders are allowed to give themselves a 20% tip when customers do not close out their tab (leave the club without signing their receipt- which I still find highly unethical). THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, MY DAUGHTER SIGNED HER RECEIPT. The tip added was 40%. Extremely unethical and I have already reported to BBB AND credit card company. How many people do not check their credit card statements? I am sure this practice is netting the bartenders quite a bit extra cash each night. PAY CASH OR BE SURE AND COMPLETELY FILL OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD RECEIPT! READ OTHER REVIEWS. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD FRAUDULENT CHARGES ON THEIR BILL AS WELL!!! THIS IS COMMON PRACTICE FOR THE MARC!! read more

The worst experience I have ever had on The Square. The sound system cut out every 10 minutes and everyone dancing had to stop as the DJ scrambled to make the music start again.
