Ok so I went here for a Tejano show, which are typically dance events. The Marc is not configured for this. There are no tables or chairs, its just two bars separated by a medium-sized space.i.e there is nowhere to put your drinks if you want to dance etc. You will be on your feet the entire time. For non-dancing type concerts it might be ok. No chairs either unless you spring for the upstairs VIP areas. I really cant emphasize it enough that there is absolutely nowhere to set your drinks down. This really became an issue as the night went on. Its located in "the Square" in downtown San Marcos, so there are bars everywhere. I Ubered there so I cant speak to the parking situation. The bartenders and bouncers were all pretty nice, no complaints with them at all. The bar takes cards, so that was a definite positive. It was challenging to get their attention or receive prompt service, resulting in long waits at the bar for drinks. The entire experience at The Marc was a complete joke and avoid this place at all cost because they didn't bother to refund us our entry fee $$! Furthermore, the music selection and sound system were subpar. The sound system itself was inadequate, with distorted music and inconsistent volume levels in different parts of the club, leading to a disjointed experience. Lastly, I am disheartened to mention the lack of cleanliness and maintenance observed during my visit. The floors were sticky, and the restrooms were unkempt, creating an unsanitary and uncomfortable environment for guests. So I went on a Monday night for a taping of The Texas Music Scene. Admission was free and we got to see Gary P. Nunn and Kevin Fowler perform several songs. There were a couple of hundred people in there and only one bar was open, but they seemed to serve pretty quick. There is an upstairs area that you can hang out in and look down on the stage and the crowd below, or you can actually get down on the floor (which is quite spacious as well). Bottle service last night for my birthday. Wanted to have an area for myself and friends. The Marc has great potential however the club manager (if there is one) needs to be there on a Saturday night activity looking where it could improve. I could go on and on however if The Marc wants my input they can ask me. My party of about 15 we're happy aside from having to go to the bar when I mentioned the "VIP" and being able to skip that. So yea having my guest have to keep leaving to get beer and shots wasn't fun but we paid the $200 and I wrote my review. The corner I did get was nice however there should be a bouncer only allowing the party guest up. I was given Wrist bands for my party but they weren't good for anything. The MC was really good and the music was my genre of music so of course we made the best of the night. I hope that MC makes good money there because that's the only reason I'd be going back and that's where my fair 2 stars go to. First NYE living in San Marcos and heard this place was offering "bottle service." I've always done VIP, mostly in Las Vegas, because of the convenience of having your own server and area to sit, dance, etc. Before making the reservations I was assured what I would be paying for (besides alcohol) included a table for six and personal "bottle girl." What we actually got was a table with three chairs, a mixer GLASS that was broken, a plastic cup as an ice scooper, trips to the bar to order shots because no one was taking care of us, and the pleasure of making each and every drink. Maybe these people don't understand what VIP and bottle service is or how it's done, but they definitely need help in that area. This was the second time that I had seen a show at the Marc. This venue has a rustic country feel. Both times I've seen shows here they've been country shows. The night of the Jason Abbott show my friends and I were able to purchase VIP bottle service seating which was awesome. Not only were we elevated above the crowded GA standing room only section, but we also had a private bathroom and bar on our level. There was comfy seating and plenty of room to move around. The sound quality is great in this live music venue. It's a short 45 minute drive from Austin and is in a really cute college town. Would highly recommend this spot for any TX country fans to go see a live music show. read more

When asking the bartender what was going on because no way should I have been charged that much(like how many beers could i of bought) he had an attitude with me but said he voided it and only charged me 10$ which would of been correct. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE DISABLED! There are no accommodations & the owner goes on a power trip I drove 30 hour round trip just to go to a show here and be harassed the whole time by the owner and security. I'm disabled and federal ADA (Americans with disabilities Act) law requires venues to have a safe space for disabled people to sit & see the show. Well I asked the venue for a chair and a safe space & the owner got so mad at me. Yelling at me to 'call the feds' because he doesn't care about accommodating the disabled to federal standards. I have debilitating fatigue and a handful of other issues, since they denied me a chair I sat on the floor for a breather, security came up to me and told me I wasn't allowed to sit on the ground despite me explaining it was a medical issue. There was one nice security guard who noticed me crying and distressed & he brought me a stool, just for the owner to order another employee to take it away from me! After more crying the nice security guard was able to set me a stool near the merch stand. A handful more security guards harassed me for sitting through out the show. I went to go have a good time and experience this establishment for the first time this last weekend. We had a group of about 15 people, all well over the age of 21. About half way through our group, the door man said one of my friends needed a college ID to get in. This was not her first time there and we all graduated a long time ago. But we were told that we could not enter if we did not have a college I.d. card. As we stood there waiting for a manager (who never came) the same door man let every other person in after us without a college ID. He said " I can tell who is in college and who isn't." WARNING CREDIT CARD FRAUD BY BARTENDER. READ OTHER REVIEWS THIS IS A COMMON PRACTICE FOR THEM. My daughter went here on 7/25/2019. She ordered one last drink before leaving. She had left a cash tip. When she went to close out her tab she only signed the receipt and forgot to scratch through the tip line or total the bill. She gets her credit card statement a few days later and the bartender had given himself a 40% tip. The manager said the bartenders are allowed to give themselves a 20% tip when customers do not close out their tab (leave the club without signing their receipt- which I still find highly unethical). THIS WAS NOT THE CASE, MY DAUGHTER SIGNED HER RECEIPT. The tip added was 40%. Extremely unethical and I have already reported to BBB AND credit card company. How many people do not check their credit card statements? I am sure this practice is netting the bartenders quite a bit extra cash each night. The worst experience I have ever had on The Square. The sound system cut out every 10 minutes and everyone dancing had to stop as the DJ scrambled to make the music start again.
