You can get food in this bar too if you get a bit hungry. It's a pity there is not more outdoor seating in this pub but sure knowing Irelands weather maybe it isn't a major loss anyway!

We were seated next to the band, which made it difficult for conversation, but suited our purpose just the same. Booze and tunes being our priority, it was Mission Accomplished. The Pub is family owned and the staff is phenomenal. As Americans, we were a bit apprehensive about how we would be perceived by the locals in this tiny edge of Ireland. Our fears were completely unjustified, and we found the people to be as welcoming as any you might encounter here in the South. The prices are par for the course of just about any pub we went to, and we didn't try anything off the menu (being more interested in sustenance of the malt and barley variety). The only reason for the four stars is the time/event that brought us to Bernard Harrington's, with a fifth star dependent on our experience outside of the Festival.

We ended up getting the haddock special and a seafood soup. The haddock turned out to be a generous portion with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans. It was quite good and nicely priced. The seafood soup was tomato based, rich with lots of seafood inside. Desserts were showcased in a small refrigerated case but nothing stood out to us that night. Service was fast, very friendly and good throughout our meal. If paying by credit card there was an option to add a tip.

Few minutes later food came, and both of our burgers were undercooked, raw in the middle, mine I asked for no cheese(lactose intolerant), there they were stick on the burger bun, we couldn't eat ours, my son's pasta was tasteless so he didn't eat his, my parents had their food not because the dishes were nice, only because they were starving. Called staff to complain, asked for manager again, and after 10 minutes no one came and we were completely ignored. Grab a staff to ask for manager again, he just said manager was busy in the kitchen, I think he just try to avoid dealing with us. Honestly, with undercooked food and waste of our time we did not want to pay anything, however, we paid everything apart from the burgers. This place if you want to grab a drink maybe ok, but keep away if you want some food. And if the owner of the pub ever see this, please train your manager on customer service, I have worked in hospitality and there is so much better way could deal with this situation then trying to ignore.

They clearly saw us, even made eye contact at times, but just kept moving, taking orders of folks who walked up to the bar well after we had sat down. It was the strangest experience of bar service we had experienced in Killarney. Once the bartender actually acknowledged us, she was friendly. We got our drinks and moved to the front room where they had live music. We finished our drinks, enjoyed the music and called it a night after one pint. The space has all the character of an old Irish pub and we had high hopes for Courtney's, but sadly it was the one negative experience on our trip. Overall, disappointed. Enjoyed the pint and the space is cool, but we wouldn't recommend as a "must do" on a trip to Killarney.
