Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Asks for prices BEFORE you start any services. Reading other reviews, changing prices seems like something this place typically does. I did not appreciate the dishonesty.

Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. This was my inspiration: ( 1st image with blue scribble on the eyes) First visit: (Gloria let her walk out the salon WITH THIS COLOR -WTF SHADE IS THAT) **photos are added for reference I texted her that I did not like my hair, and had the audacity to tell me to come in a week later and come in for the THIRD TIME. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I bet your ass the people leaving 5 star reviews are all the workers. GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER, I'VE WARNED EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY.

Four Years of Hair Growth Lost -- Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more This was my third visit to Kaie Salon, and unfortunately it will be my last. I want to give full context because I genuinely tried to trust this salon and even recommended it to friends. I am an Asian male with slightly below-shoulder-length hair. I had been growing my hair out for four years from a buzz cut and was looking for a layered cut with a Korean perm. I've had bad chemical perm experiences in the past that left my hair dry and brittle, which is why I was willing to drive 2.5 hours to find a stylist I could begin to build a relationship with. On my first visit, Kai advised me that my front layers weren't long enough yet and recommended waiting a few months before doing a Korean perm. I respected that advice and only got a haircut for a wedding. The haircut itself was very minimal, but I wasn't bothered because he seemed knowledgeable. On my second visit, I returned specifically for a Korean perm because my roots had grown out flat while the rest of my hair was still wavy from a previous perm. My goal was to have one consistent texture throughout and add some layering so that it sits on my face well and I don't look like Jesus. After the service, I honestly looked almost the same as when I walked in. Since this was my first Korean perm, I assumed maybe my hair length or weight affected the result and gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to return for my 3rd and last time. On my third visit, I made it very clear that I wanted a shorter haircut while keeping my length, along with a Korean perm. I scheduled and placed a deposit for a Korean perm, but at no point during the service was I told that I was instead receiving a chemical perm. That alone is unacceptable but when I noticed the rods were not connected to the heating thing, it was too late. What made things worse was the haircut. I ended up with a mullet-style cut, which was not the inspiration photo I showed. While that wasn't ideal, I could have lived with it--until I washed my hair a few days later. That's when I realized how bad the cut truly was. The left and right sides were completely uneven, with random short and long sections that made no sense structurally. It honestly felt like the work of someone still in training. I was devastated. I had a New Year's Eve event that same night and ended up wearing a hat because I was so embarrassed. Over the next few days, feedback from friends, family, and coworkers confirmed what I already knew. The haircut was not salvageable. I ultimately had to go back to an undercut with a bald fade, losing nearly all of the hair I spent four years growing. This was never my intention, and now it will take a long time to grow my hair back again. To add to this, another friend of mine also got a haircut here and did not walk out with the style he asked for either. I'm extremely disappointed. I tried multiple times to trust this salon, traveled a long distance, and gave them the benefit of the doubt--but the final result was unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this salon, especially if you care deeply about your hair or are seeking a specialized service like a Korean perm.

I wanted to trim my hair two inches and provide treatment. Salon Oasis is a quaint, comfortable place on main street in Fort Lee. Where there are so many hair salons, I am happy I came across this place and they had a spot open for me to walk in. I didn't know until my hair was getting washed I was speaking to the owner, Hide, and he was friendly in conversations. Hide washed and cut my wet hair with the two inches I asked. After the trim was done, treatment followed where the product gets smoothed into your hair. The plastic wrap goes over your head and then you are sitting under a perm machine rotated for a timed ten minutes. When the machine was done, another staff member helped wash my hair to get the product out. She gave me mini head massages and really went in depth to rinse everything out of my hair. Towards the end, my hair was blow dried by two staff members and brushed through many times. My hair is healthier, split ends are gone, and the treatment helped towards comfort and smoothness. Hide gave me some small moisturizer products to help my hair and explained what to do to continue to keep it in better condition. Call ahead to reserve an appointment. Friendly staff and service. Parking is accessible, look for spots around neighborhoods or the meters. Covid protocols are provided safely in the establishment. Thank you, Hide, and staff. I appreciate you having an open spot for me this afternoon. Salon Oasis has been in business for ten years Hide told me. To more years ahead! I'll be back next time.

I had a straightforward cut the first time and advice on how to care for my hair to prep it for coloring, which I had done on my second trip when my hair got healthier. The stylists and assistants are attentive, and although some staff are fluent English speakers, it does help if you can speak Korean (I don't) or bring along someone with you who does. Being polite will always help. The only niggle I have is that the shampoo person used her nails on my scalp and it was rough and unpleasant. She also did not include the little head massage that's usually part of the shampoo. The colour turned out perfectly, and it was styled prettily after the cut.

I was hoping for better because this place was recommended by a friend. Left like $340+ out, disappointed, and guaranteed bad hair days until my bangs completely grew out of the keratin treatment. Told them my concerns with a keratin magic straight treatment that they brushed away Tried to perm my bangs after I explicitly told them that I'm worried cause I've had them accidentally permed too curly in the past -- they said this would never happen. At the end, I noticed they were putting something new in my hair. My bangs had indeed turned out too curly and they were covering it up with a keratin magic straight in the bangs without telling me first - kinda rude about it. Wish they had just not messed with them like I had originally asked. For the next four months, my curtain bangs would not hold a curl.

TL;DR: Lowlights rock…read more I had been to Jackie's years ago when I used to travel more frequently to the northeast. This time I had some downtime and swung by for a trim. She asked whether I want to try something different and suggested lowlights - I had never heard of the term but figured they're like highlights, just less obvious. The first and last time I had had toned down my hair (highlights, actually) was 22 years ago, but the AI photo apps had all suggested recently that I go blonde, so I thought this may be a first step in that direction. She said how long it takes depends on the individual's hair but should take no more than an hour, and I was intrigued. I can do an hour. I told her I really don't want that overbleached, orangish yellow color, and she was on the same page. We were going to aim for a light brown, but that could mean any number of things, right? It came out a copper-bronze that adds just a touch of light around my face. The color looks more obvious in certain angles depending on how my hair is tousled or parted, and I love how it shows up more prominently in the under-layers of my hair and when I put it up in a bun! This is a result of her gathering my hair, then taking some away in a zigzag before bleaching what remained in hand. I really like that she made the bleached hair blend with my natural hair. Btw, she's pretty opinionated and has a lot of comments, but knows her stuff. If you've ever been scared about toning down your hair color, give lowlights a try! It's very affordable here even with the wash and cut afterward. I was here a total of 1:30 including my wash and cut, during which three people walked in. She had to turn them away since she was doing my hair; one person came back at a time she had told him. Glad to see that it's a happening place but that she takes walk-ins like I did :D

I appreciate that Soyoun and Michelle took the time to genuinely listen to my concerns and communicate on what process would result in a uniform color throughout my hair so it looked natural. My appointment was with Michelle, and I liked that she was attentive when cutting and coloring my hair. I didn't feel it was rushed (if you want a quick cut this might not be what you're looking for). I regret not bringing a book to read!.. I was there for 2.5 hours due to the coloring process, as they had to remove the dyed color from half my hair before coloring my whole head. When my back started to ache from sitting, Michelle noticed and brought a cushion to prop behind my back! The hair wash was gentle and the brief scalp massage felt greattt. There are hair salons where my neck feels strained a minute into the hairwash. No neck pain here! The salon is spacious. There were two other customers, and we were spread out to different areas of the salon. Throughout my appointment(color, cut, wash, blowdry), not once was I asked to remove my mask. The staff always had their masks on too. I plan to come back to Juun Hair. The atmosphere was very comfortable and pleasant.

Price was super good for all of the services. THE PERM: Be forewarned, they will tell you which type of perm you should do. For me, since my hair is fine, they advised a regular perm. They also advised that I do a deep conditioning treatment beforehand, which I agreed to. That took an extra 20 minutes or so before the perm, and they gave me 5 weeks of additional little packets to use each week. The whole process was performed by the main stylist who mainly only spoke Korean (and needed a translator at times) and her assistant. The stylist also gave me a little hair trim before the perm. Then the perm itself took about 2 hours, including washing and drying my hair afterwards. Overall I was in the salon about 3 hours. Now, 2 weeks out from the perm, I can say it's equal to much higher priced perms that I've gotten in the past. Overall I am super happy with the results. I think in total, the price was around $180 for the perm and the conditioning treatment. I tipped each of the two ladies $20 and so the total was $220.
