This was their "best advice for me" and that I should come back and get both together. I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

And what a fortunate thing I was, because I have now found my new go to person for all hair related needs. I highly recommend Ai for your stylist. Reference this review and request her honest consultation for your intended style before getting a cut; I can almost guarantee you will be amazed by the end result. However, what ultimately made me leave a review was what Ai did NOT do. It was the fact that she advised me NOT to get a perm that day. She recommended it would be better to grow out my hair longer for the intended style. What refreshing honesty that prioritizes the best for your client instead of upselling any unnecessary service. I walked into NewHair with a quarter life crisis and a bowl cut. I came out 1.5 hours later having realized my full potential as a Temu BTS member, with the best haircut I've had in New York City. My stylist Ramona Azcona, who is an amazing, dedicated, caring, and talented hairstylist has really transformed my hair. A year ago, her sassy self told me that if I wanted healthy and beautiful hair that I would I have to make the biggest commitment, she said, " you will not color your hair nor do blower for a year." Now, you know that for a Dominican who has been convinced that straight hair is the best hair, it was difficult to digest and accept the challenge. However, I must say and I am living truth, that she has given life to my hair, she revitalized my hair in ways that I never thought it was possible. I followed her advice and I only do wash and rolos with "the tubi-Dominican version." I do keratin every three to four months followed by a cut and again, I am so glad that I decided to go to her a year ago before my 40th birthday. I thank you for your true dedication and passion for what you do, your work demonstrates how much love you have for your craft read more

All that has to be said is Ramona Azcona! I have been a customer here for almost 10 years. And this salon is part of some of the milestones in my life like my high school prom, sisters baby shower, dads 60th and other special occasions. It is very relieveing to go to a hair salon knowing that the results are consistent. I go here and let her work her magic. The blowouts here down to the haircuts are a 10! I am very fortunate to have a full head of hair, and when getting hair cuts as a child, I didn't have much versatitly, till I had one of my first haircuts here, I remember walking out of there feeling like 100 bucks. I swear by Ramona and have referred her to many friends. If you are looking for that wow factor, trust worthy stylist, she is it! The appointments are on schedule. The staff is very professional. And the salon is very clean. I look forward to haircuts, treatments and hairstyles here. Everything about this place screams Madison ave. read more

This was a present to my sister. She was visiting from Brazil and was delighted to have her hair done at Madison avenue in New York City. Everything was flawless from the very beginning. She needed to color her roots and the entire hair was damaged from flat iron, specially the endings. Before the treatment, the hair was so dry with no movements, always stuck on her neck. After the treatment (color and blow dry only), the hair was so thick and shining. Whatever products & techniques they used it made her look like a movie star. She told me she had gone for several hair stylist in many countries, but this was definitely the best. I uploaded several pictures along the treatment. All the pictures were taken in the same day. I particular like the difference of "before and after". It's gorgeous. read more
