I'd been through years ago, in college, but don't remember much about it back then. Now, it's a really cute town, and the main shopping area was filled with great little independent shops. We stopped in at The Blackbird, and were immediately reminded of one of our favorite places, Cedarburg, WI, where the town's old woolen mill was turned into cute little shops. It even smelled like the Cedarburg shops (they sell yummy smelling candles at the Blackbird)! In any case, the shop may not be for everyone, but my sister and I love all things bird, and there were a lot of bird themed items, from figurines to useful things like hooks and hanging racks, etc. They had some really nice area rugs and a huge variety of artwork, most with more "country" inspired themes, so again, it may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm pretty eclectic, and love antiques and sleek modern things. If my boyfriend hadn't put a moratorium on the number of tchotchkes I can bring into the house, I'd have gone to town shopping! Instead, I only purchased the cutest children's book for the children of a friend (Memoirs of a Hamster), and a Warren Kimble pillow with a rabbit on it, for a bunny loving friend's upcoming birthday. If I'm ever in Holland again, I will definitely stop in to the Blackbird, and hopefully buy something wonderful for myself!

He found one on the Hobby Lobby website, I called this store and asked if they had it in-stock, and Ruth was able to put one aside for me. About ten minutes later I drove up to the store - our hotel was like down the street - and saw Ruth as I walked in (she had a name tag on). She knew immediately who I was, when I said we spoke on the phone, and retrieved the charger for me. The charger was only $5 too, which was a bargain, although it had a USB-C end instead of a USB-A; luckily my iPad charger has a USB-C end port. Overall very impressed with the customer service at this location and would visit again.

Joann Fabrics runs coupons weekly that you can Google on your cell phone and have them scan the barcode. I thought I'd found the coupon before going up to the register, but it seemed I was on a pages of theirs that's coupons if you have their app. They had their 50% off one item coupon on another location online (a Joann Fabrics location). The girl at the register was being a .... well, you know the word... and stood there refusing to tell me where to get the coupon for the week or to help me find it. She was rude about the page I thought was the right one, talking to me as if I don't know what an app is. I asked her where to find the coupon, knowing there was one because I'd seen two customers before me use it. She just stood there, not moving and not saying anything, staring at me, thinking I'd just give up and not get the discount, which turned out to be $5. A customer next to me at the other register was hearing how unhelpful the clerk was being, so she said, "Here, use my phone, I have the coupon pulled up already."
