The food was very bland as if there were no spice added at all. I had the mad Mexican and a fish taco with no flavor and my wife had the Baja quesadilla and had no spice whatsoever. It was supposed to have an avocado ranch dressing, but even it was missing. It was very busy that night so I could not even get someone to tell them about the food. What a terrible experience. I brought my adult kids in for dinner. The place was almost empty so there's no reason our food should have come out cold and virtually inedible. The boys both had burritos that had lukewarm temperature meat. My daughter had hot dogs that looked like they had been sitting at a 7-11 all day. I have celiac disease and when I inquired about items on the menu that were safe to eat, the girl at the counter said 'I don't know.' How do you work in food service and not know about food allergies? I ended up ordering 2 tacos on corn tortillas. When they came out, the tortillas were cold and the ground beef was unseasoned and gray. I spoke to the male who was working and asked for the manager - he said, 'It's basically me.' I explained the situation and he said that it's just him fulfilling orders... there was 1 other table and they'd been there awhile. It wasn't busy so there was plenty of time to properly heat up the meat on the burritos and to warm up the corn tortillas. Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at in my 38 years of life. I went with a group of 8 people and not anyone in my group enjoyed their food. My husband ended up vomiting in the middle of the night from his meal (brisket tacos)! I am pretty certain the chicken they use in their dishes is canned chicken. CANNED! If it's not, it tastes exactly like it is. The ground beef is not seasoned, is gray, and has the texture like it was boiled. I had the quesadilla that has mac n cheese in it and it had the gray meat, and bland, strange mac n cheese inside. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but people need to know. RUN FAR AWAY!!!!Stay clear of this establishment. They are clearly racist!!! Tried to go for lunch one day and was not greeted, but the another family came in after us and was happily greeted. Nevertheless, we did walk out after knowing we weren't welcomed there. And don't dare park in front of their business if you aren't dining there they will leave a nasty note on your car. Firstly, the Mad Mexican's staff were very friendly to me and my family upon our first visit. We ordered upon their recommendations and unfortunately, it fell flat. While the food was edible, it was largely flavorless and not well seasoned (or seasoned at all). I'm not even sure if I would consider this restaurant Mexican or even Tex-Mex. They were packed when we went, which clearly means others enjoy it. Plus they have Coke products and a nice beer selection. Just not for me. read more

Allow me to start off by saying if 0 stars was possible that's what I would give this hole! We had chicken salad and burrito. Worst things ever! Both meals! No flavor whatsoever! I mean to say NONE! Mexican food is about flavor! No amount of salt or pepper could have helped these meals! Not even hot sauce helped. Now, let us speak of the meat that was used. You'd expect fresh grilled chicken. AND YOU'D BE WRONG! They used cold chicken out of a can, even in the burrito! It was so nasty, I gagged. Do not waste you hard earned money! The portions are ridiculously small for big portion prices. The tortilla used for the tacos aren't much larger than a baseball. The catfish tacos had one small piece of fried catfish the size of your pinky finger in each one. The ground beef burrito was Moe's quality, but a third the size and twice the price! The collards have stewed tomatoes in them??? The Brunswick stew is extremely tangy and just weird tasting. Definitely not your traditional southern Brunswick Stew. DELICIOUS food! Cute, quaint atmosphere. It's a great combo of hometown, locally owned, a splash of southern, and wonderful service! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food had me looking forward to my next visit. I chose 3 different tacos and NONE of them disappointed. And the Brunswick stew represented the south WELL! This is the second time we have eaten here. We were in a hurry on a Friday night and needed a fast meal. Once again, the food was horrible. Like Mexican food for babies. Absolutely no taste in anything. My husband had a burrito: plain unseasoned chicken, rice with no flavor and tasteless lettuce. Served room temperature. I had "nachos mama". Tasteless greasy chips, white queso sauce, almost invisible flecks of chicken and a piquant sauce drizzled over all, which was cold. The waiter said it was supposed to be cold. I asked to have it heated and he looked at me like I was crazy. The atmosphere is noisy and chaotic with lots of kids. Sports teams often come here after games. We will never return. read more

I thought it was safe to always order a quesadilla whenever I tried an Americanized Mexican restaurant but I guess I was mistaken. I think the cook literally pre-made it and slapped it on the grill, or perhaps they cooked it earlier and just reheated it. Regardless of whatever order it happened it was repulsive. Not only did it have zero flavor but it was so dry I couldn't continue. My friend got the tacos and they were subpar. This is my third visit for lunch, and I've been more than happy every time! The first time I had 3 tacos, 1 brisket, 1 fried shrimp, 1 chicken. The brisket was my favorite and the shrimp was a close second. They have a huge hot sauce selection which is a bonus for me! Next visit I had the Salad with brisket and LOVED it! We have been going to Mad Mexican( used to be called Rednexican ) they have the same owners but the changed the name is the restaurant for franchise purposes. There is street parking all around this restaurant. Our family has started going here weekly on Tuesdays for their amazing taco Tuesday deal .99 cent tacos and these are not tiny they are loaded up with your choice of lettuce,cheese, Pico to Gallo and choice of meat). I usually get 2 and that fills me up. The tacos include chips and really fresh delicious salsa. We are a family of 6 so we try to eat at places that have good deals and portions and this place is our spot on Tuesdays for that exact reason. They have several different hot sauces to choose from and great beer specials. $2-$5 for local craft beers!!! The service here is amazing! They will allow you to sample a beer if you are on the fence about what to order, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the owners are usually there serving up yummy food so the fact that it's supporting a local families is a huge plus for us.
