Great atmosphere that lives up to the name. Salad bar is unlimited and good but not spectacular. The crown jewel is the service. We had two steaks come out medium and not medium rare. They charge for refills. Just keep this in mind when you order pop. Food was not very good (omelette) and the salad bar was not very fresh (I normally love salad bars) and had only iceberg for lettuce. I've eaten breakfast at The Lumberjack numerous times recently and personally I'm not sure what the big deal is. The food was inconsistent, one week the bacon is perfect the next, overcooked and black. The prices were alright a little steep considering the quality of food. My friends and I always seem to be seated near the kitchen NO ONE WANTS TO SIT NEXT TO THE KITCHEN! Another thing that caught my eye was the massive amount of dust accumulating on the ceiling fans and overhead beams! Another thing I found confusing was one week we were seated in an adjacent bar called Trappers. The food for whatever reason seemed better and the service also seemed much improved. Very disappointed with breakfast today, eggs cooked wrong after specific request and then waited twenty minutes to see waitress again to tell her I needed them fixed. They eventually were sent back and when they returned this time over cooked... She didn't ask if they were OK, never saw her again. It's nothing special but you get what you pay for. A very basic place to go for breakfast. Not a fancy place by any means. Bathrooms could use some cleaning and there are some obvious cobwebs in the place. Food comes out quickly and service is nice. Food is a bit bland but honestly very affordable place. Was surprised to see only three stars for this place. Our experience was certainly four-star. Walked in and were seated immediately. Server was at our table within seconds and coffee was seconds after that. We didn't know what some of the things were on the menu were (being from California) so our server was quick to explain them. The food was so-so the three times I have been there. Their version of hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict probably would have been better if it had come from a mix...maybe it had. Anyways not a fan. Nothing spectacular but they do have a large menu. The salad bar looked like it had seen better days. The next time I got the half sandwich and a soup for lunch, was pretty good. However the waitress we had was a total grouch. Definitely not friendly and seemed that it might be time for her to retire. Took almost 10 minutes to get some coffee, and the service for refills was non existent. To make matters worst, I found a hair in my eggs. Good place for a reasonably priced steak, with all u can eat salad/soup bar. I've had the steak here about 5 times, it's been excellent 4 out of the 5 times. Once, they cooked it a little too much, making it too dry. Other 4x, excellent. It definitely is a cheaper alternative to The Keg, which I feel is consistently good, but is much pricier. For about $32 including tip you can get a 10oz NY Strip, all u can eat salad/soup bar and a glass/bottle of beer. Decent deal for Windsor area restaurants. Dreadful! Over priced low quality food brought to you by even worse wait staff! It's really gone down hill! First of all we went New Years Eve 2014. I sat down and was not brought the typical green menu, so I asked for it. "THIS is the only menu tonight!" as she flaps her mouth and orange paper in my direction and she storms off. Upon her return she asks if we are ready to order, I said that we were not as our whole party wasn't there. I also said that we had called ahead and made a reservation why were we not informed then about the doubled prices and only able to order from the "orange print out". She snapped again and proceeded to argue with me! I repeated myself and also said this isn't like we just walked in here, you had us on the phone when we called to make a reservation. A new menu with all the old food on it but with doubled prices for just tonight is something you might want to mention to your customers. "JUST A SECOND, I'll get the manager," she snaps again. The manager NEVER came! I choose the Chicken Parmesan. She asked if I wanted house or caesar salad. I said caesar. I also noticed on the menu I could go to the soup and salad bar, I mistakenly DID NOT notice that it was either or. Neither did the rest of us. All of us but one went to the salad bar. WELL when she brought out those Caesar salads she lost it. Dumps the one in front of my brother in law and storms over to the other waitress two tables over full of gestures and complaints about ONES having salad bar and THE OTHER is have soup AND salad! Well thinking that was a nasty unnecessary misunderstanding I spoke to my party about how rude she is and how she just spoke about us. As we continued this conversation I hadn't noticed her return serving the other table. She obviously and unintentionally over heard me and literally went bat sh*## crazy!! She whips around and glares at me and YELLS, "I didn't realize their was a choice, I'm used to the green menu!" My mother in law kept saying loudly please stop fighting and she continued!!!! After she left we started talking about her not getting a tip. Either she overheard or another waiter/waitress told her as her disgusting attitude vastly improved. Sooo let the sucking up begin. From then on butter couldn't melt in her mouth like we would so readily forget her uncalled for nasty behaviour. Ok sooo then we got our food if you could call it that. Chicken parmesan really not what I would have titled this ghastly meal. It tasted like precooked cardboard with a sliver of parmesan on top and given an unworthy title at an inflated price. Then there was the nasty noodles that not only lacked taste but sauce. There was only a tiny bit of sauce hiding under my chicken. This sauce tasted like canned sauce with a touch of another spice added. My husband LOVES this restaurant we've been going for years. He order steak and pasta. The steak was burnt on the outside and RAW on the inside! He leant over to me and whispered can you finish cooking this for me at home! When we left my husband said to me, "I think I'm over the lumberjack!" And seriously people whenever we go out he ALWAYS wants the lumberjack. Sooo bon voyage! So to you dear waitress here's your belated tip: Don't argue with people and check your attitude at the door when you start your shift. I didn't snap at you when asking for the green menu so please refrain from snapping at me. In conclusion please note that this used to be a great place and although they have renovated they have majorly lost quality of food and embraced a bad serving attitude! Very bad customer service ! first of all - very bad attitude by the server. Then, the problem with the order - when asked for options, we chose 1 of the meat options and they served with 2 meats. When the bill arrived, we were charged with extra meat which was almost half the price of the order. When we complained to the manager, we were told that we must have ordered extra meat and hence we got to pay for it ! Good food, Bad service..... A friend and I decided upon visiting the lumberjack this morning for breakfast. We have been here before, but never have we experienced such poor service. We were seated in what we call "the forgotten corner" and were repeatedly ignored by the waitress. A young couple who had arrived 15 minutes after we did ended up receiving their food before we did. Funny how they ordered the same breakfast we had only to find out that the waitress had given them our order. When the food finally arrived (3 coffees later) it was the wrong order. We waited for the waitress to come by to ask for our cheque and when she did we had asked for 2 separate bills to which she replied "ok" only to then receive 1 bill between us. It was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had going to a dining establishment and we will not be returning. read more

Apparently you should not go for breakfast on a Sunday morning when it's raining and there might be other people there. The service was awful and the meal (just breakfast food) took over an hour to come out. When we spoke to management, we were told that we just happened to have arrived when other people did and it's raining, so there's nothing they could do about the wait. Was there on October 5th 2013 as I was invited to a birthday party. I've had every item on the menu as this restaurant used to be my place to go. I've gone up to 4 times a week at times. I'm disgusted on how my friends were treated, how poor the food quality was and the poor excuse of a manger/owner Rose is. I called as a representation of their customer base. I was yelled at, basically told that I was unimportant as she was too busy dealing with breakfast. She could careless that the 40 people who attended the get together would never come back. Those potatoes were hotter then Roses ass when she was breathing fire at me when she assumed I was the person calling to complain about the bill. I will never be back....but lumberjack doesn't care. There is no customer service or resolution, all that matters is, if they believe they are right, yes so many other people entered into a conspiracy against the lumberjack. There's no way they could have made a mistake. . I've recommended a small claims suit against this poor excuse of a "banquet" capable restaurant. These people need to realize that all they have is a wood grill, many years under their belt and a building that appears to have not been renovated since 1978...the washrooms...1951...its the customers who keep this place going. You lost 40 in one shot. Good going. You are not that good..nobody is..get your heads out of your asses. Social media will lacerate you. And yes I realize that's a new term for the lumberjack, it's quite obvious. But sadly the majority of their clientele won't ever see the poor reviews as they rely on the older generation to help them coast through the years.....they will pass on and so will the lumberjack....and so will I...in my car...as I drive by and think, that the smoke bellowing from the rooftop is either from the grill or Roses inflated fire spewing head, as she battles another lost customer due to her inferior management skills and lack of customer service.
