The club is beautifully decorated, and the restaurant/bar serves good food and drink. We stayed in a nice hotel room, but were quite surprised to discover that we had no hot water. After many attempts to fix it, and move us to another room that also did not have hot water, and offer us a third room, we decided to stay in the original room. We wasted a lot of time packing/unpacking, moving between rooms. Eventually one staffer admitted the property had poor hot water circulation in some areas and that the "property was not built as a hotel". The maddening part of all this is the reluctance of the management to admit to what is a known issue, and to offer us a free breakfast as compensation for a $1000 stay. The staff are highly trained to be polite, engaging and outwardly helpful, but are totally unequipped to deal with a real problem that is not easily fixed or papered over.

They didn't skimp on the interior design and and giant TVs all over the place. The staff is always nice and respectful and the dealers are very professional as well. The have a full food menu with notably all day breakfast and a full bar. The food is delicious! Yes, you heard right, delicious food in a poker establishment! My favorite so far is the Cajun Salmon and my friend loves the skewers. The first time around I got mash potatoes and string beans. It was so good, I ordered it the next time but with jasmine rice which is also good. There's a huge lounge area with comfy sofas where you can watch TV on several giant screens or you can just hang out at the bar with full drink menu. My only minor nit pick is that the TV's are a bit out of the way at the bar so you kinda have to rotate around to see the games. The price for membership is $10 per day or $30 per month and the hourly fee is $12 if you are playing on the tables. Unfortunately you can't pay with chips so have your credit card or cash ready. I recently went to an event here and the auditorium-like stage, it was a perfect fit for a quartet. In the back, is a great setting for the food. A little cramped for a HUGE production, but great for an intimate event. Outside, the building is beautiful and in a really great neighborhood. If you walk up to it from the street parking, be prepared for a steep uphill battle. However, if you park in the lot, there is an elevator that takes you up to the floor you need. I'd love to have a 25 or 50-year wedding anniversary here. Gotta wait at least another 20 years for that one.

We looked at many of the options for a downtown Austin wedding before choosing AWC. We had a wedding of 95 guests, had the ceremony outside in the courtyard and the reception inside in the main dining room. There are places that are newer and places that are grander, but this place happened to be the exact fit for our wedding. We wanted it to feel formal without feeling overly stuffy. We wanted a place that felt historical without feeling rundown or old lady. The pictures came out absolutely amazing in this space, and people were constantly coming to us saying how much they loved the space and the feeling of both the ceremony and the reception. This place was absolutely perfect for my wedding, truly a dream come true!
