Stayed at the "Wildflower Retreat" cabin end of Sept, 2023
Booked here because of the location - handy for our toddler with a little playground across the street, proximity to Molly's, and great wildlife viewing out in the meadow.
However - this place was weird! Yikes! It seemed that no thought or effort was put into converting this cabin to a welcoming, convenient rental.
I'd give it a (5) for location and wildlife viewing opportunity.
I'd give it a (4) for bed comfort.
I'd give it a (1) for everything else.
It seemed like they put no effort into making this a rental?? Seemed to be lots of things in disrepair, broken, missing parts, etc. Had to search for towels. One bathroom had only two half-rolls of toilet paper, and one full roll not designed to fit on the paper holder? We had to search for the coffee maker and had to use a stepstool to get it and other things out of the cabinets. One window blind on the biggest window was zip-tied in the open position. A couple other window blinds were broken and not usable. One window had the screen off and sitting on the ground. Had to wait over a full minute for hot water in the kitchen sink. There was no lid for the big kitchen trash can so just had wet garbage sitting there in full view/smell until full enough to empty - then very confusing where to put full garbage bags??? Thought we had it figured out - only to be scolded by a nasty old lady next-door. The floors were very creaky and impossible not to wake up others when walking across the floor at night. There was a cigar cutter on a table that we luckily found before the toddler. There were numerous strange outdated items throughout that had no purpose or usefulness, and/or broken, just sitting there??? A big wall clock that didn't work, and another that was off by a couple hours.
We've stayed in many area cabins over the years but this one was the dirtiest ever seen. When we arrived there was a variety of leashes, straps, small table, and other clutter on the front porch that we had to step around to get to the front door. And a small trash can filled with someone else's trash? The front door mat was covered with debris and spider webs everywhere at the entry. Made us wonder if someone was living there, and we maybe had the wrong address?? Inside was also very dirty when we arrived. We had to call the office to get a vacuum cleaner and broom delivered. There was pile of dirt or something on the coffee table. The windows were filthy with lots of dead bugs in the window sills. We were psyched to sit on the back porch to relax but were surprised to see large cobwebs everywhere on the windows, patio furniture, floor, ceiling, door. It was like nobody had ever gone back there to clean?? Had to request a broom to cleanup outside (front and back) before we could enjoy any of it. There were cobwebs everywhere inside also, and at least a dozen spiders (that we could see) in bedrooms and baths. The coffee maker appeared to have maybe never been cleaned (filthy)? Keurigs were beyond filthy - left open and covered with dust and who knows what. No way were we using those. It appeared that the dishes (still in the dishwasher when arrived) hadn't been washed with soap? - had to wash everything ourselves.
I could go on - but tired of typing. Not sure what this management company (Lost Resorts) is thinking??? read more
