Joy had been living with an amazing foster family in Taiwan who clearly invested time and love. She arrived knowing sit and stay, comfortable with people, children, and ready to bond. That foundation made our first weeks smooth and joyful (pun intended). As a parent, I appreciate how Tina knew what's best for the dog and the family. The foster model and careful matching really show. Joy is gentle, eager to learn, and an instant best friend for our household. My daughter Olivia was asked to add her own words: "We found a perfect dog because of ABC. The fosters taught Joy so well with sit and stay! If someone is looking for a forever dog I definitely recommend ABC!! They put the dog in a foster family so they can know what it's like to have a family. The fosters teach regular English commands like sit & stay (they are awesome at that!). ABC is awesome!!" Thank you, Tina @ ABC, for the love and structure you pour into rescue. You didn't just place a dog; you helped build a family. -- Matthew & Olivia (and Joy!)

The folks there really know their stuff--they asked us all about our home life to ensure it'd be perfect for him. Hachi arrived healthy, vaccinated, and ready to roll. He took to our home instantly, plays fetch like a pro, and settles down without a fuss at night. They're not just rescuing dogs; they're carefully matching them with loving families like ours. Big thanks--you've changed our lives for the better and literally saved our new pup's life!

My partner and I were looking for a cat to keep our DIFFICULT cat company. When I say difficult, I mean AGGRESSIVE and bitey and clingy. We communicated all this to Tina and Eesha when we were interested in a specific cat. They advised us to consider another cat, a younger one they were more familiar with that they thought would be a better fit for a dominant cat. It was rough introducing them but Tina and Eesha were so helpful and were there for us for the entire process during our trial adoption. They really knew the kitties they had and what they needed and understood our needs as well. When we eventually decide to adopt a third, AKRF will be the first place I check. I hope these reviews don't stop anyone from reaching out to them. Genuinely so grateful for finding our youngest

"Fiona" was listed as friendly, affectionate, curious, in her headline. Her bio says she is Affectionate, Athletic, Brave, Couch, Curious, Friendly, Funny, Gentle, Loves, Loyal, Playful, Smart...all the things I was hoping for in a new kitten. I am an experienced cat owner, work from home, and met all the typical adoptive parent qualifications. Never heard back from Ace, so followed up a few days later with a message through Petfinders. No answer. I googled Ace for a phone number and called. The woman who answered was very rude and unprofessional. She asked me how I got this number. I told her I found it on the Internet. I told her why I was calling that I was interested in adopting Fiona. She said she was busy and would call me back but never did. I followed up with another email. Crickets. I filled out a second application and still did not hear anything after a couple of weeks. I gave up and found another kitten through a much more organized and professional rescue organization. I've dealt with several rescue organizations in the Bay Area and have never been ignored by anyone except for Ace. Beware of this organization. When I made a complaint through Petfinders about the lack of response and professionalism of Ace, I finally got a message from them saying that it turned pretty little Fiona was not good with other cats. Beware of this organizations tactics.

I have learned skills that will help me with future fosters., I have learned its the human directing boundaries and behavior. Tyson will never be perfect, but with the right tools he is able to live a fun and enjoyable life (so am I). I cannot stress enough how important training is when owning a dog, even if that dog seems 'perfect' . We still need the knowledge when there are other not so behaved dogs that we are able to handle the situation. I cannot say enough about Gabby, her patience, her knowledge and dedication to the dog and human are beyond just training. She continues to help me learn and understand managing Tyson, she never gets frustrated with questions and re-teaching (me) the tools for success. She treats every dog differently as they are different in every way. She takes the time to get to know them and what they need. I cannot say enough about Gabby and how she has made having a highly reactive dog pleasant to walk . Training is never done, I learn something new at ever class.

We knew we struck gold when we met Gabby! She is knowledgeable, knows her breeds, is a VERY fair trainer to the dogs (which is also incredibly important to us) and she is very invested in the dogs she works with and their ongoing success. From her prompt responses, to communication when transferring over the training and giving excellent homework as the dogs adjust back into fosters, we couldn't recommend her enough. While she works with all breeds, we love love her true speciality with the bully breeds. Highly recommend if you are looking for a great dog trainer who will really invest into you and your dog!

When I doubled back months after adoption with the female volunteer about PJ's awful demeanor, she commented that he has anger issues towards women and had to cut him off herself months prior. We did not receive any medical records for our cats including any microchip information. We were never told that one of our cats was extremely sick with respiratory issues when Fuzzy Butt Rescue first obtained them (I found this out 1.5 yrs into ownership after issues had already arose). We were never told that male, neutered cats are prone to urinary tract infections or we would have adopted female cats; I am a solo mom with 100% of everything for my child so my plate is full as is. We were never told that a key piece of healthy lifestyle for male, neutered cats in preventing UTIs is room to run around before my 10-yo son and I brought them home to our 700 sq ft condo. When confronted with health issues with our pets, PJ refused to make any effort to help us get them care. He was insulting and called me "cheap" for not being willing to spend thousands of dollars on testing despite that I took our cat to 2 emergency clinic visits after working hours the first of which was around midnight before a big job I had booked for the next day. He said he would take them back vs actually helping us to resolve the issue. Our cat's UTI was resolved with a $10 homeopathic product on Amazon that has over 10K reviews and a 4.4 star rating. He called that product "a hoax" but it worked in ONE day once I had time to stay home with the cat and treat him. PJ insulted me for even thinking of trying the homeopathic product vs agreeing to thousands of dollars of testing as a first resort. This guy is the absolute worst. If you want a pleasant and professional pet adoption process, go somewhere that has built a documented reputation in that vein which provides the necessary medical history on adoption (I wasn't aware there was any or I would have asked!). It's March 2023 and I'm looking at our cat's 9 page vet record now in after we got them in Feb 2021 and am shaking my head. This cat has major health problems. I had 2 cats as a child for almost 20 yrs with none of these issues. My son was crying in his sleep last night with a nightmare about losing our cat. Screw you and your judgment and negligence, PJ.

We wandered in and tried to get a kitten here. After a few days I asked when we could come pick up the cat. Ashley Ascencio and PJ McKovsky responded with rude/angry/mansplaining/outright mean emails, saying we couldn't have the cat because we'd let him go outside. Could do without the cat shaming lecture, it's not an effective way to educate people. Nasty email: "If you're next step is to go buy an animal instead of self reflecting then that speaks highly of you. We feel even more solid in our decision. Please explain to your child you do not value the lives and well being of your animals and I think he'll understand our decision too." Bad experience at this place, Avoid unless you want to deal with mean people. I also agree that they are withholding the medical history of the cats. My husband thought the cat seemed sick. I thought he was just bored and depressed in the cage, but I saw later on the facebook page that this bunch of cats all had extensive medical issues. No one informed me of that at all when we filled out the paperwork on him.

I rarely write reviews, but people need to be warned…read more I paid $3,500 for a French Bulldog from this breeder and was told the dog was AKC registered. After reviewing the paperwork myself, I had serious concerns about its legitimacy. Now, at just THREE YEARS OLD, my dog is losing bladder control and quickly becoming paralyzed. This has been absolutely devastating for my family--especially my youngest daughter, who is heartbroken watching her dog decline like this.(myself included) From the beginning, my dog has had ongoing health issues, including severe allergies requiring constant vet visits, Cytopoint injections, and expensive specialty food. The emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. I've since learned more about serious conditions like IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), which can be more common when breeding is not done responsibly. Based on my experience, this raises major concerns. I will also say this: my interaction with this seller felt unusual. Meetings were arranged in public locations rather than at a residence, and I was never given a clear sense of where the dogs were being raised. Looking back, that lack of transparency is something I would not overlook again. In my opinion, charging a premium price for a dog that develops severe, disabling health conditions this early in life is unacceptable. Do your homework. Ask hard questions. Verify everything independently. Learn from my experience.
