My husband and I stopped here to eat while sightseeing today. We were starving! I ordered the white queso and it was amazing!!!! I also ordered the lobster enchiladas! I was not disappointed! Filled with tons of lobster and cheese and a yummy white sauce. My husband had some sort of burrito. It was huge and he loved it. The waitress was very nice and kind as well. The vibes in the restaurant were off from the start. The staff kept touching the tip of the straws in the margaritas as if they were playing around. When we got seated we waited 15 minutes for our server to even aw knowledge us. We only got one menu and we were two people and when we got our food the taste was not worth it. BEST SALSA EVER! If you like spicy salsa, this is the spot to go to! The margaritas were nice and strong and we finished the meal from start to finish. We patronize the Loop a couple times a year for our Chili con Queso, Pork Green Chili and Margarita fix for many years. We sometimes have an entrée but lately have been disappointed. The greatest issue with the loop is inconsistency. The Chili Con Queso and Pork Green Chili spiciness can be mild to extremely hot. It seems that they were understaffed the day we came and not sure if there has been a management change. We will try again in a couple of months and update our review. read more

Ok. I'm judgy cause I'm from Louisiana and I like Tex-mex. It was kinda basic but had a cool twist on a few dishes.

We had to get up and get our own silver and napkins. We were served an appetizer we didn't order - were told it would be taken off our bill- and when our card was run, we were charged for it. we asked for it to be voided- they suppo voided it but could not provide a receipt- being told they don't print voided receipts. I said I was not paying twice and they started digging in the trash and finally found the voided receipt- so we were lied to. Many Snarky comments were made to us throughout. as I was signing the proper receipt and going to leave a low 10% tip, a snarky comment was made towards my 4 year old, I made it a $0.00 tip- which I haven't done in years. About 20 minutes after leaving, we get approached on the streets from a maniac woman who said she was Zia's sister (our server) yelling at us, harassing us and threatening us. We left Manitou Springs downtown due to our safety. Don't go to The Loop. The servers cannot accept their errors and will contact their family to come threaten and harass you. read more

I love Manitou, and I love drinking yummy margaritas in Manitou even more! The frozen strawberry margarita was so good! We also ordered fajitas. We split one order of chicken fajitas between two of us. The portions are large, so it was perfect! Each person got 2 tortillas, and there was still some left over. PLEASE READ!! Every day I am asked where is a good place to eat in town. There are three places I tell everyone to avoid and The Loop is one of them. I live within walking distance of this place and have eaten here several times but I won't be back after this last experience. My stomach is still queasy and several bathroom trips later tell me the garlic beef taco salad was a bad choice. Look around, you won't see locals here. Do yourself a favor, read these reviews, mostly the one-star versions. The food is bland, the salsa runny, it's just mediocre which is bad enough but it shouldn't make you ill. So at least the food was tasty... Definitely on theme for an authentic Mexican restaurant with the decor. The restaurant was not dirty but might need a couple updates or coat of fresh paint. We were given bowl after bowl of chips and salsa. A member of our party asked if the salsa was hot or mild. We ended up with the spiciest mild salsa I ever had lol. Which would be a good thing if it was just for me. We had 6 kids (youngest 7yrs old). Happy the kiddos seen it as a challenge on who can handle the most salsa. Then after the kids drank all the water I was waiting for our server to get more water. Did not return to table 10 minutes. Mind you we have not ordered any appetizers or food. Looked like there were plenty of staff members but only seen our server and she was seated back to back after us so she was pretty busy. Only drink orders. 20 minutes later I flag down a staff member. asked her for a couple waters and she brought a pitcher of water (no ice) and sat it by me. At least our water was refilled. 5 minutes after this the server came back with the drinks. Then took our orders. She was nice and energetic. Still filling up the bowls of chips. No exaggerating it was 8 o'clock when we got our food. We made a reservation for 10 ppl 6:30pm. We were on a schedule to get home by 8 to wrap up our last night in the city. It was a bummer to get home after 9. Kids didn't get to hang out with cousins before bed due to needing to hit the road at the crack of dawn. All in all food had good flavor not very efficient. This is an overall 3 star experience. My Dad and I were looking for some much needed food after visiting the top of Pikes Peak - starving. We cam upon The Loop and decided it looked good and we would give it a try. The entrance was a bit deceiving, couldn't find it. They have so many doors and they all look like the could work. Just an FYI - I shouldn't have to think when trying to enter an establishment (felt like where's Waldo). We were sat right away and were waited on promptly. I liked the glasses - not plastic but true heavy glass - that was a nice change. The menu had a nice variety and bot got a version of some small taco's. I wanted them because it was one of the only dishes I could find with no cheese - I'm just saying. The dishes came and they were very good, 5 taco's a piece with a slice of lime for each with fresh onions, jalapenos, and cilantro on the side for topping. Good 3 star place. If I was back in Manitou I might stop back or I might try someplace new just to live on the adventurous side. :) read more

The server was fairly invisible, and it took a very long time to get drinks, or to place an order. Once we placed our order, it arrived a fairly quickly, but we never saw our server again. The food was acceptable but not great. Had higher hopes for the food having been pleased in the past. 2 of us ordered flautas without guacamole. They clearly forgot as you could see where they tried to wipe it off the plates. The portions were good and the beef filling tasty. The rice, however was bland and flavorless. Wow! I returned today because I was in the mood for a great strawberry margarita. My server, Vinny, could not have been nicer or more efficient. Decided to try the fajita wrap in the lettuce leaf, and it was delectable! To top it off, the busboys were so quick! Within 60 seconds, they had a dirty table cleaned and ready for the next customer. I head up to Manitou every now and then to go to the local festivals which are always fun! I've eaten at The Loop many times. Pretty much because the locals I hang out with love this place and once in a while I do get decent food here. For the most part, this is truly mediocre and low quality Mexican food. However, I have had some quality meals here, it's just a crap shoot. It almost seems as if not much is fresh and most of it is canned, frozen or pre-made somehow. Sometimes the food comes out with a rubbery crust on it from sitting under the heat lamp. The margaritas, are WONDERFUL! Strong, delicious & well mixed. The chips and salsa are also good, but the salsa is very watery. Stay away from the hot cheese dip, or queso, or whatever you want to call it. It just tastes like hot Velveta with some salsa dumped in it. I know I'll eat here again. It's really not horrible when your options are as limited as they are in Manitou. It's also not so bad after a few margaritas but this is not a place I will ever go out of my way to eat at. read more

Another bartender asked us why were were standing there cluelessly waiting, and eventually found the tab from our order and gave it to us. The waitress was great! She got our orders and drink orders so fast. She was 0% the problem. The food isn't good. I ordered carne asada, and was promised a flavorful, saucy pile of delicious beef. I was given a thin, tough, no flavor piece of beef. I have no idea what it was but it was disgusting. The rice had little to no flavor, and the beans were white. Not refried Bean's. This was truly awful. My husband and I stopped in with two friends to order lunch. The salsa was runny with very few vegetables in it. When we received our lunches everything tasted awful. The breakfast burritos were the worst our friends had ever tasted. Even the rice was inedible!! The rice had peas, carrots and green beans in it. My guess is it was a frozen pack of fried rice that they microwaved. The green sauce tasted very strange, and the Pueblo natives (my husband and his friends) assured me that green chili is NOT supposed to taste like that. We could hardly eat, and I was starting to think this place maybe had a few decent reviews because of their drink menu. I'd say avoid those too. When my husband went to the bathroom he said there were massive piles of ice in the urinal!! Having worked in a restaurant before, he was very concerned about the sanitation of the ice buckets. We couldn't bring ourselves to drink the water anymore, and once you start thinking about it you really wonder about the sanitation of the whole kitchen. Slightly Americanized Mexican food. Salsa had spice, but lacked real flavor. Chips are thinner than most and chip refills are $3.99 according to the menu. We order chimichanga's topped with the white queso. I'm the last person to ever say something has too much cheese and they piled on enough I'm still not sure if I actually liked the chimichanga or the cheese. Its not going to wow you, but its also not likely to disappoint as long as you come with the right expectations. I do love the chips and salsa, with the salsa being some of the best that I have had (very fresh, and spicy). We all had burritos except for the youngest and were all happy. Plenty of food, so you won't walk away hungry either. If you like your stuff spicy, most of the stuff is pretty mild, so ask for your preferred hot sauce. both the red and green sauces are tame as well. service was good.
