For the owner, I can't say the same He has asked me "so, how can we can we improve at Betty Lou's". No matter what you say, it doesn't really matter. The owner seems to weaponize feedback, which is completely toxic. Sure, you're the owner, absolute respect to you for making this fair in this industry, it's accomplishment. However、please do not ask serving or bartending staff if you don't want genuine feedback. The owner will act against you. We requested one time that Blaine (the owner) does not come on floor if he's had more than two drinks and if he's not dressed in proper uniform. As an owner, sure, to some extent that's fine. But when you threaten a server, who is still new, you will fire them based off how long you're doing menu tours is not acceptable. If you didn't know, menu tours are just running through the drinks and food, which can take a considerable amount of time when you are busy. Now imagine the owner is so disconnected from the reality of the service, is also five drinks deep in the office. The owner will award you back off a few good days, but if you have one review where a customer believes you didn't believe you delivered "a personable experience" you're done. Now, that seems rough, but imagine an owner who values complete bullshit over actual truth. But I mean hey, would I work an environment where the owner can flip a switch, absolutely. It doesn't matter So hey, if you get hired at Betty Lou's, got bless you You can have a good few days, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. There is no HR, no general manger, you know why? They've left, to better and more complete opportunities that Betty Lou's cannot offer. If you're looking for any place to work, please, reconsider Betty Lou's. If you're looking for a place to drink, please reconsider Betty Lou's

The balance of…read moreold world charm and elegance is prominent from the moment you walk into the iconic space. The space used to be the original lobby from 1888 but now occupies the bar. We've had the pleasure of visiting fantastic bars in a lot of places but Rundle Bar is special. The service level is as good as it can be. The staff makes you feel like you're in their home. They're incredibly attentive but not annoying. We had great conversation with many of the them and they genuinely care about you having a memorable experience. The views on the patio (alfresco terrace) are as epic as it gets with views of the breathtaking mountains everywhere you look. It's been named the best patio in Canada for years and you will see why when you walk out of the beautiful Rundle Bar onto the patio. The menu is made up of classics and signature creations. I had the Ember which is an old fashioned variation made up of high quality spirits and an infused maple syrup it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. It didn't hurt that it came with a smoke show. It was so good that I have to create a separate post with photos and videos vs. detailing it here. Trust me, it's gorgeous!!! Banff has been on my list forever and I finally visited. The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel was equally a place I needed to experience and it didn't disappoint. The Rundle Bar was a bonus I wasn't expecting so make sure you make time to visit this magical place when you finally check Banff off of your list. I'm definitely going back with my beautiful wife because we have to experience it together. You need to go. Salute @thejohnnycocktail

This is the best escape room establishment I've been to here in town. Let's see if I can write a…read morereview without spoiling any of the awesomeness of the rooms themselves. Once you experience Escape Hour, you can really see what sets them apart from the rest. This place strives to give you more than just a bunch of puzzles and a room you are locked into for an hour. Here you get the full experience, as they really push the thematic nature of each room. Everything from the decor and story, right down to the period specific, functional antiques that you must use to complete some of the puzzles. Another thing that sets them apart (and the biggest part in my opinion) is that none of the rooms are linear, you can start on any puzzle you choose and end anywhere you choose. You don't need to find the "first" puzzle which gives you the answer to the second puzzle and so on. If you get stuck on any of the puzzles, there is no break in the experience where you push a cheat button to get someone to come in and show you how to do it, instead they coach you through any difficult parts giving you just enough help to complete it without giving it away. Now this is not just one person sitting back reading a book waiting for a button in any room to be pushed. There is a dedicated host to each group that can see and hear everything going on in the rooms and communicate hints and tips through a TV screen in the room. This way they can give you help or hinder your progress, thus tailoring the difficulty to your group. They will not give too much help and spoil your experience, but they also won't leave you frustrated if you can't pass a challenge. One thing I should point out is that this is by appointment. You must book a room. However, they will accommodate pretty much any time 24 hours a day. We finished up just prior to a group coming in at 2am for a work party that deals with the graveyard shift. Yes, they cater to individuals, and corporate office parties alike. I'd like to say a bunch more, but it would give too much away. Needless to say, GO CHECK THEM OUT!

There are a lot of different escape rooms in Calgary. You can find their posters on community…read moreboards in Starbucks or hear about them on the radio, but if you want a true escape room experience ignore all those advertisements and go with the best. Most escape rooms will make things harder by making you work in the dark with a flashlight. Most escape rooms will give you a buzzer or button to call in an attendant to help you if you get stuck. You won't find any of that cheap, time-stealing nonsense here. You want it harder? Escape Hour gives you more challenging puzzles and more of them. You want help? There's a dedicated staff member watching and listening in and if you need help they will put hints on a tv display in the room for you to use (or ignore as we did most of the time) rather than coming into the room, disrupting your experience and not knowing what stage you're at before they help you. This means you don't lose time, you get immersed in the experience, and the best part? They will never give you the answer, just hints to help you figure it out for yourself. They have four rooms that rotate in theme and when we went, and will be for a few months still: -The Lost Jewel of Zanzibar (african safari) -The Curse of the Evil Genie (arabian nights) -Prohibition - the Lucky Duck (speakeasy) -Cypherspace (interstellar) I did the Zanzibar one. The rooms are amazing, with authentic antiques and period items fitting each theme. They are all based on true stories, and are so much fun that you can't help but dive into it. When we went into our room the door closed and we just scattered. It was so much fun, I can't wait to do the other three themes! The puzzles and setup is great for all ages and experience levels. With the different themes and difficulty levels, Escape Hour rooms are great for families, professional groups, or just having fun for an hour. The staff are friendly and you can tell they care about the experience with the dedication and quality put into the rooms. If you want the best escape room in the city go to Escape Hour. You'll have a blast!
