This is such a great little salon! The owner, Robin Brum, is the same gal from Salon Murazo and Willem. I would follow her anywhere, however, this time she has taken all her years of expertise and skill and opened her own salon...FINALLY! The salon decor is a mix of urban and industrial, yet sophisticated. The stylists have all been hand picked by Robin to provide the utmost in knowledge, style and professionalism, some of whom came from Salon Murazo. In additional to exceptional hair services, The Loft also has a pedicure/manicure area that looks clean and inviting. I understand they will take walk-ins, but if you want Robin, you'll have to wait like all the rest of us :-) She is almost always booked, but let me say, it is well worth the wait! I have learned this lesson the hard way. In my impatience a few years back, I was unfaithful to Robin and man did I pay for it! I left the salon with a hole in my head and a head of hair thinned out so much that I was actually counting the strands remaining. Never again I thought! She has this amazing ability to pick colors and cuts that fit my style and look perfectly. Also, as her cuts grow out they tend to keep their shape. I have also had her do the Japanese thermal straightening on my hair and it was amazing. She is one of the only (if not the only one) trained in all of Ventura County who can do this properly! This is a long procedure, but if you want flat iron straight hair you will love it. The salon location is just off the 101 and the Lewis exit, heading back toward Old Town Camarillo; parking is in back. Anything you have ever loved about any other salon in the past is all found here; complimentary wine, flavored water, scalp massages, amazing cuts and colors, cutting edge designs! I moved to Camarillo from LA two years ago and needed to find a local place to sneak away to get my hair cut since i have two toddlers at home. My sister has been getting her hair cut by Robin for over twenty years. I am so happy she recommended her to me. I have gone to Robin for maintenance trims, a drastic change ( cut off more than a foot), color, and formal hair do for a wedding. She has done an amazing job with every single appointment. I loved my cut, my color, and my do. I consider myself picky and i have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend Robin in a heart beat. The products she uses are great as well. I have to agree with the previous review - which I suppose is just as much about Mario as the salon, The Loft. First, the salon: it has a great vibe and is set up really nicely. It doesn't have many seats in which to wait for your stylist, but I never have to wait long (if at all) so it's a moot point I suppose. It's near many other businesses and sometimes the parking lot can get full, but it's right across the street from the train station, so again, no problems there. The people in the salon are always so nice and welcoming. Great place. And just a note about Mario. This is the third salon I've gone to just to follow him (all have been in Camarillo - but I'd go beyond the city limits for him). I was lucky enough to call one day when he had an opening. That was 5 or 6 years ago and I've never let anyone else cut my hair since. He's truly a stylist - an artist - and he has the best personality! Funny, relevant, remembers things I can't even remember telling him :) and can get quiet when he's in the zone making my hair just right - which is fine with me. I am originally from NY and have seen the same stylists for over 15 years. I tried another salon and was to say the least ....extremely disappointed. I have not cut my hair in over a year because of that experience. I guess you can say I was gun shy. I called The Loft after seeing the many positive rave reviews and thought I would give it a try. Can't very well just fly back to NY for a haircut every 3-4months can I? My stylist was Annabel and I can not say enough great things about her. She was very courteous and knows how to handle her scissors. I showed her a few pictures of previous haircuts I had and she worked her magic. I love love love my new haircut. My bridal party all got our nails done by Jane and Heidi. Our schedule was really tight and the only time we had available was on a Saturday night 30 minutes before The Loft closed. Jane and Heidi stayed FOUR HOURS LATE to complete all our mani-pedis. We were provided with a bottle of champagne and were able to make it a little party while we all got our nails done. It was really fun and Jane and Heidi did a great job. They don't do nail art, but were willing to put little hearts on our nails. I was really happy we decided to use them. The Loft has a very nice atmosphere and it was a relaxing way to spend the night before my wedding. read more

But more importantly, let's talk about the hair styling: I have blonde hair, and I always get super nervous about someone new trying to match the color and not damage my hair. I am a regular customer of The Loft. Annabel is amazing with color. I receive constant compliments from complete strangers about the color! Jane gives the best pedicure around, and is as nice as she is good at her craft. The pedicure station if beyond luxurious. Big, comfy pillows and private. The entire staff works as a team. My regular stylist, Annabel, had to be out of town on my normal color day. She shared her color combination with Nikki, who I also adore, and they both give a great blow-dry. My past experiences with other salons have shown that stylists are very territorial with their clients. Not at The Loft. Their number one priority is the client's experience, not in fueling their own egos. If you need a professional makeup job, Lauren is your go to lady. If you need an updo, Blanca has the art of that mastered! Each member of the staff; the receptionist, owner, every stylist and nail technician knows your name and you are pleasantly greeted. The waiting area is very comfortable, though everyone is so prompt you rarely have to sit long, if at all. The receptionist immediately asks if you would care for coffee, tea, juice, water and there is always a plate of cookies. I disagree with the reviewer who did not like the location across from the train station. It adds character and I enjoy the people watching. It beats some boring little SoCal strip mall any day! I researched salons that could perform colour correction well. My formerly baliaged, long platinum hair had been died BURGUNDY elsewhere. I booked an appt using The Loft's online system. The salon called me to confirm as soon as they opened. I was booked later that same week with "Annabelle". It was hard to locate the salon as it sits on a busy road (Lewis) used as a byway to the main drag at the corner. Parking was plentiful once I figured out where I was going. I arrived for my appt nearly an hour early and Annabelle was able to accommodate me due to a lucky fluke, which worked out well for both of us as my appointment required double/triple processing and ended up taking several hours! (Long hair dyed bright burgundy at the roots which had faded to an awful, dull brown/red/ash down the length. So awful!!) I can not say enough great things about my new stylist! She was cautious and candid when we started, she didn't want to make promises that she could not keep. She asked me if I had the time to do all of the required processes prior to starting, which I appreciate so much. We were able to discuss a wide range of topics throughout the day, which made the experience enjoyable and the time passed quickly. This woman is talented, well rounded and very bright! Annabelle highlights using very small segments that many stylists simply can't/won't take the time and attention to do. The end result is stunning and, despite all of the chemical processes, my hair is in perfect condition! Shiny. Silky. Gorgeous!! The receptionist at The Loft was really helpful. I chose to drink only water, but they have Keurig and other beverages available should you want them. The wash bowl/chair was a challenge and I'm hoping the salon will upgrade some of their furniture in the near future. Still, once you connect with a talented stylist who can colour and cut your hair, it doesn't really matter if you have to sit on a bench - we all do whatever it takes to stay with the person who makes our hair the best it can possibly be! The pricing was reasonable compared to better salons in Ventura County. I recommend Annabelle at The Loft with no hesitation!! YAY! I've found my new Ca stylist!! read more

Let me start by saying I would rate this "NO STARS"! I was looking for a new stylist and new hair style so I Yelped The Loft. Saw good things written about Mario so I booked an appt. I came with damp hair and told Mario : This is me, unplugged. No product, no blow dry, just natural. I have naturally wavy hair. We spent about 10-15 minutes discussing my hair. He took a comb or brush, I can't remember and proceeded to brush the crap out of my hair while it was damp and made it so frizzy I looked like Roseanne Roseanna Danna! He said: boy your hair is curly. I said: no, It really isn't and showed him a wavy piece. I brought him a picture and we discussed it. Off to shampoo and then to cut. Wow! I have never in my life had a stylist use a technique like his before...and I have had short hair, medium hair and long hair. He took a section of hair and combed it over---like a balding man comb-over---and snipped, and snipped and snipped. Not once did he add layers or thin out my hair like the picture. Well, an hour and 45 minutes later he was done. I had pretty much the same hair as when I walked in. I truly regret not speaking up and talking to Robin, the owner. Her station is right next to Mario's. I was actually embarrassed for him cause he did such a poor job. No talent what so ever. read more

Love this place. I had a hairstylist I was going to consistently when suddenly she dropped off the face of the earth and I never found out what happened to her. I was kind of scared to find a new stylist so I went without a haircut for WAAAAAAAY too long. After bleaching and dying my hair weird colors for a while, my hair was too damaged to go without a hair cut for any longer. I yelped around looking for a salon when I found this one. I called and made an appointment with Mario. I'm so happy I did! He's an amazing hairstylist. He's honestly so cool and he's so kind. He knows exactly how to execute what I'm looking for (I'm rocking a cool blunt bob right now) his technique is so fascinating. I've never had a more interesting hair cut experience. I look forward to what Mario can do with my hair in the future and I highly recommend him and the loft. read more
