This lodge has the best location in Bryce Canyon. We stayed at the Sunset Lodge and it was really close to the rim to enjoy the views. The room and service are great. Had eaten breakfast and dinner there at the restaurant and the service was great. You really come here to be close to the Navajo Loop, Queens Garden, and nearby Peekaboo Loop Trail.

The room is a little small but I guess this hotel located inside the Bryce Canyon National Park so it's good and comfy instead of to stay at any others place in this park . The staffs are very nice & friendly. The walking distance to sunrise & sunset point is very close to the hotel. Love the location, the price is not that expensive. Also, the wifi is bad (the staff also told us when we check in but they said this hotel is old so we totally understand ). There is no tivi in the room but we think it's good for kids & adults because we truly feel this is outdoor activities.

My first time to Bryce Canyon and I was so excited I was able to secure two nights at in the national park at Sunset Lodge over the 4th of July week. We arrived way early and had no issue waiting for our room to be ready around 4pm. We had a nice lunch at The Lodge. I had soup and a glass of wine. We also shopped at the gift store and I bought a lovely ring. After lunch, we drove up to Rainbow Point and then stopped at all the other lookouts on our way back to the Lodge. When we returned our room was ready. The Sunset Lodge is hotel-style - maybe 30 rooms altogether. Each room has a porch and ours (lucky us) looked out towards the trees and the rim. Keeping in mind we were in a national park, it is pretty rustic. No TV, no air conditioning, and WiFi is spotty at best. But WE ARE IN A NATIONAL PARK miles away from any city. The amazing views were literally outside the door of our room. The Lodge sits literally on the edge of Bryce Canyon - a mere 5-minute walk from our room. Our room was clean and efficient. Nothing fancy, but I came with no expectations and was not disappointed. And sitting out on our porch each morning with a cup of coffee was priceless. Our meals at the The Lodge were very very good. I had my doubts since a lot of the NPS restaurants turn out "cafeteria-style" food, but Bryce was like a 4 Star restaurant. I had Yellow Creek Shrimp Tacos one day - delicious. Queen's Garden Beet (spring mix greens with honey Dijon vinaigrette topped with roasted red beets, mandarin oranges, bleu cheese crumbles and walnuts) and Panguitch Pork Chop (salt-brined and marinated, char grilled and topped with apple chutney served with mashed potatoes and root vegetable medley) one evening - amazing, pizza at Valahalla Pizzeria another night - no complaints. Plus they serve Farr's Specialty Ice Cream, which the day I ordered it the special was chocolate ice cream, with marshmallow swirl, and brownie chunks - can you say heavenly. Unbeknownst to us, we didn't realize we could not buy wine in a grocery store in Utah. Wine & liquor are only available at state liquor stores. But we could buy a bottle wine at the restaurant while we dined there. Our stay at Sunset Lodge in Bryce National Park was magical and was the highlight of our week in Utah and Nevada. Major "chillin" involved. We grabbed a bench on the edge of the canyon each evening and gave serious thought to the meaning of life and simple took a deep breathe and was in the moment.

Western cabin 517 is one of the closest to the rim.

My wife, daughter and I stayed in a western cabin here in mid August for two nights. Being just a one minute walk to the rim was fantastic and afforded is numerous opportunities to view the hoodoos at various times of the day with ease. Parking was easy with no issues. Our cabin was rustic but comfortable. The gas operated fireplace was sweet and took the edge off the cool evenings. The in cabin frig kept our water bottles cold for the next sweaty hike of the day. Wifi and TV were non existent so prepare the kids in advance. There is a wide selection of board and card games available at the front desk for the borrowing. It's a bit of a crap shoot with your neighboring cabin mates as noise carries far here. We generally had no issues except when some noisier groups were walking through. Other than that we had an enjoyable stay and would return again.

My choice is always to stay inside the park. Bryce was no exception. Typical National Parks lodge. A "motel " style building as well as cabins. We elected the motel option. There are no amphitheater views with any lodging options here. But the amphitheater is less than a 5 minute walk away. You are set in a grove of Ponderosa pines. So nice and peaceful. No tvs in the rooms. Which was fine with me. They claim wifi is only accessible in the main lodge, but we had fabulous service in our room.

Me: Hey daddy, how many stars would you give this place? Dad: NONE. The main lodge itself is cozy with over-sized couches and rocking chairs. The gift shop is located to the left of the front desk, the dining room to the right. Wifi was spotty on my phone and internet flat out didn't work in the dining room; however, I had a great signal in our room. The room itself was what our family hated. We stayed at the Sunrise Point building. It was extremely old, outdated, and smelled just as ancient. I gave the lodge two stars instead of one because I was able to take a shower and sleep in the bed without too much discomfort. Keep in mind that I'm extremely picky about hotel rooms. I get grossed out easily so I'm glad that the shower was clean. It also had a timed heat lamp. I still slept with pajama pants and socks though because I wanted my skin to touch the bed as little as possible. Yes, I'm that picky. My family's main complaint was that the bed was extremely uncomfortable, particularly the pillows. No one got a good night's sleep. My dad chose this place because Frommers recommended it and because it's located inside the park. We all now agree that the benefit of its location isn't great enough to chose the lodge over the Best Western located right less than a five minute drive away from the park's entrance.

Ask the Community - The Lodge at Bryce Canyon

What are the rooms with the best view of the canyon?

None of the rooms in the main lodge have Canyon views. All of the buildings are set back about a 1/4 mile from the canyon rim & are blocked by a wooded area. Some of the cabin buildings may have views, but I doubt it.

The lobby has a super tall ceiling and a lodge-like feel, really fancy and modern. Plenty of parking. The breakfast included breakfast with a big buffet of scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with ham, pancakes, cereal, sausage, bacon, fruit, tater tots, breakfast muffins and donuts had much more choices than the Best Western we stayed at in at Springdale for Zion National Park. There is one elevator. Pay attention to the receptionist when they tell you the floor. Our room was 3461, and he said the 4th floor which seemed like a mistake until we got out on the 3rd floor and could not find our room. The second digit refers to the floor number. The first number refers to the building. Room was clean, comfortable, spacious and the bathroom vanity was long. There was an inexpensive Keurig machine. I successfully made my coffee, but my husband couldn't get the machine to turn on again even with wife help. Microwave in the room. Our mini-fridge was warm and fiddling with the temperature control didn't seem to start it up. I put those comments on my Best Western survey and the general manager responded and thanked me and said the problems would be addressed. The pool and hot tub are located in the center of the buildings, so it can be more shaded there in the afternoon. The park shuttle does not stop at this hotel but Ruby's Inn about 7 - 10 minutes walking. We drove the 0.5 miles for dinner there - Cowboy's Buffet and Steak Room. We got there about 5:40 pm and by 6:30 pm, it looked like a 30-45 minute line. When they run out of the ribs, you might be stuck eating the buffet or other menu choices. The ribs were good!

Before we…read moreeven got there, they emailed us directions, in anticipation that we wouldn't know where we were going. I appreciated the forethought. We drove up late Friday night and arrived around 11pm. The staff were gone, but we called ahead/wrote a note ahead of time, and they made accommodations for us to pick up our key. Checking in was as low drama as it gets. These examples made me feel that the level of service is good, even though we didn't interact with anyone. Sometimes it's the non verbal things that make a difference. Our treehouse was super cute. The living quarters were elevated and the lower level/floor level is an area where you can sit, have a bonfire, bbq using their grill, etc. Overall, it was in good condition. Just minor things like our screen door didn't really line up when closed. It seemed to be clean in areas that are often overlooked, but the shower had a lot of random stray hairs that were not mine. Also the water pressure is low. I'm not sure if that's by design or not... The room's features are pretty standard: Mini fridge, kitchen sink, small closet, king bed and a loft with two twins. The property is located just on the other side of Bryce Canyon. You can see the colorful canyon-top from the tree house. It's a very convenient 20 minute drive from the park entrance. It's remote and very quiet. It was truly beautiful and serene. There is a wash nearby that filled up due to some rain, but the next day it dried out. The wash does not affect access to the road or hotel, fortunately. There is a restaurant on site. It's decent. It's pricy. Service is on par with a higher end restaurant in the city, but the food flavors were slightly above average. Not sure if I'd go back to the restaurant. There's a town down the street that also has food and a store.
