Cristiana Guesthaus - The warm savory and sweet pastries for breakfast were delicious!

Full of fun ambiance and homey touches, the Cristiana Guesthaus is a great option for folks staying…read morein Crested Butte. Despite being on the small side, it's loaded with amenities including bikes to borrow, hot tub, sauna, complimentary warm drinks (coffee, tea), wine and cookies in the lobby. Breakfast was small, but lots of fresh options including an orange juice press. Convenient location and easy walking to Elk Ave. Rooms are on the small side and are a little tired, but are clean and cheerful. All of the rooms have noise cancelling machines to help combat the lack of insulation in the walls. While not loud, you will hear everything going on around you.

Great location within walking distance of many restaurants and businesses…read more The rooms are fairly basic, but there is ample seating in the common areas, and the guests have access to a small fridge. Coffee, tea and hot cocoa is also available throughout the day. I think what sets this place apart is its cozy atmosphere and extra little touches such as freshly baked cookies daily at 4pm, and complimentary red wine served from 4 to 5pm. The staff is also very friendly. The heated ski storage is incredibly convenient during the ski season, and the shuttle to the slopes is just a few steps away. While breakfast was good, the space is not set up for it and it can get crowded quickly. I wish they'd open earlier than 7:30 during ski season. The warm savory and sweet pastries were delicious, and there is yogurt, fruits, boiled eggs, toast, oatmeal and cereals. Enough for us to start the day off right! Overall, we'd definitely return when visiting Crested Butte!

Raven's Rest Hostel

This hostel was an incredibly positive experience! It is one of the cleanest I have ever been to…read more There are 12 beds total but space for a few tenters in the summer. There was a fully stocked kitchen (although the pan assortment is a little goofy). Lucky is incredibly welcoming and a solid dude. He lent me snowshoes and gave advice on which trails around fit my needs. There are grocery stores, shops, and even the local movie theater all within walking distance. During the summer, it seems like a hot spot for many thru-hikers. I would absolutely recommend this hostel to anyone.

This hostel has served us as an excellent reprieve from the Colorado Trail during our thru hike…read more The owner, Lucky is super friendly and a chill, laid back guy. The hostel is clean, and the others staying (mostly hikers) have been awesome to share a living space with. For those who prefer it, there are no private rooms just bunks, but that's not a problem for us. There's also no onsite laundry but there's a laundromat down the road and an RV park that's closer that advertises laundry even closer. There are multiple showers, two bathrooms- all of them being super clean. Wifi is available here as well. Plenty of places for grub and to look around while staying. The Country Market around the corner has anything you'd need. Lake City is a pretty charming little mining town and the Raven's Rest Hostel is an awesome place to stay on a budget. I'd definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone coming through!

Inn the Clouds Hostel & Inn - Cute cabin

This is a very homey and cozy hostel in Leadville. It looks like a cute cabin from the outside. I…read moreloved the common area with plenty of comfortable places to sit, and the kitchen was very well stocked. I didn't really partake in the social atmosphere as I was very tired, and the people there seemed older. It is certainly not a young person party hostel. However, my friend I came with previously came a year ago and made good friends. The main issue that my friend and I felt made our stay uncomfortable was the restrooms. They don't have stall doors for the toilets. They just have a flimsy curtain that you can't secure in place, which was super awkward and made me feel on edge every time I was in there. Their showers also don't have doors, but that is more acceptable. We stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm, and it was comfortable. I really liked how they have full-size vertical lockers with keys that you can use for storage. When we checked in, they said one of us had to be on the bottom bunk and one on the top. It worked out for us, but if there are other beds available it doesn't seem fair if both people have a preference for a bottom bunk just because you are friends. People in hostels are usually solo travelers anyways and need to share a bunk bed combo with a stranger.

This hostel is your quintessential hostel. It's actually a HUGE place, I'm impressed how many…read morepeople it can hold. It has a big kitchen, big living room, big lawn, and big den downstairs with TV/couches and a ping pong table. It's clean-ish, pretty much your standard hostel. The showers were a pleasant surprise - quite clean actually on the ladies' side so that was a huge relief! The beds were simple bunks in the room I was in, and I was top bunk. Low ceiling so I couldn't sit all the way up but I could most way; i was also right by a water pipe so I could hear water running every time someone showered etc, but I stilled crashed from exhaustion/Im a heavy-ish sleeper. The room was a bit warm; with the window open it was way too cold so it was a wee bit stuffy but again nothing too bad. I slept fine overall, it was pretty decent as far as a hostel experience goes. Overall - if you're coming in late and leaving early for like 1 night (which I was), this hostel will serve your needs fine! But it is restrictive in how much you can move around/put your stuff in shared rooms so bear that in mind. Parking also interesting -- you can park along the south-west fences surrounding the place but when I came at 9p on a sat, there were no spots. I briefly parking across the street on Alder (to the west), but the folks who own the home came out and informed me i couldn't stay but COULD park by the stop sign across the street on 7th (to the south). The hostel said it was fine too, and I parked there overnight and nothing bad happened (ie towing). Overall: this place is fine for a short stay as far as I'm concerned! But you get what you pay for.
