Walked for 1.5 km to get here and it was worth it. We got the crab meat Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bread was so good. Good portion of crab meat. The salad was fresh and helped cut away the heaviness of the hollandaise. The red velvet pancakes were good. It was a bit on the denser side but the cream, strawberries and syrup made it softer. Lots of strawberries and the mascarpone cream was very good. Too bad my waistline does not think so. Coffee and taro drink were excellent. It was a really filling breakfast and a nice start to our day. Recommended if you are already in Chinatown area and don't mind walking for a few more minutes.

If you are anywhere near the area, I would highly advise stopping by Local Mbassy for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You won't regret it! Their food is delicious and the service is second to none. Our servers name was Emma, and she made the experience so enjoyable. She was able to assist us with all of our questions and gave us several recommendations that were spot on! The red velvet pancakes are definitely the move! They come Covered in cream and fresh strawberries. They also have nutella waffles and an assortment of egg dishes for breakfast. The Shakshuka Meatballs were also delicious and freshly prepared as well. This was a huge portion so order carefully. Take out options included a lox bagel and a delicious spicy chicken sandwich. Place is very reasonably priced and be prepared to take lots of pictures! Place is rad! You won't want to leave! The owner and staff are hands on, friendly, and make your dining experience into an absolute treat! A beautiful group of people and a top notch eating establishment! Thanks for showing these American tourists some amazing Aussie hospitality!

A couple friends and I came here for brunch during the week. They have a variety of options from savory to sweet. I had the red velvet pancakes and a red velvet latte. My friend had the crab benedict with a taro latte and my other friend had the buffalo mozzarella stack and a red velvet frappe. The red velvet latte was delicious and beautiful, but the real star were the pancakes. WOW, the presentation of the pancakes was amazing with stacks of red velvet pancakes, strawberries, and whipped cream with a white chocolate sauce. The pancakes weren't too sweet but the white chocolate sauce added that sweetness. It was a wonderful excuse to have dessert for breakfast. I would definitely share as it was a huge portion! The only thing is the pancakes were cold. The mozzarella and pesto was so fresh and a nice change from the sweet pancakes. The crab benedict was a bit smaller on the portion side. We also got some cronuts on the way out. They were huge and so worth it! The cronut was nice and flaky on the inside with sweet cinnamon sugar on the outside. Overall, a wonderful brunch place in Ultimo.

Wowww the flavours of their prawn and avocado smash is a must try!! Very fresh and flavourful. It exceed my expectation in terms of flavour, portion size and presentation. The prawns were nicely marinated and the poached egg was perfect. There's pretty garnishes around the plate which makes the presentation Instagram worthy ;). I got the ice chocolate as well, it's pretty sweet but still good nonetheless. The joint is around the corner of a steep hill, you can't miss it! Nice and airy with the open concept. There's cute plants on the table and the servers are very nice. Totally coming back here for their red velvet pancakes when I'm not too full! Thumbs up. Love it love it.

First time I went there this Sunday... A bit understaffed. The waiter forgot my coffee order and I waited 20mins watching ppl took their takeaway coffees right in front of me. Luckily, the food makes up for it. Beautiful food presentation and good combination of crab benedict (and I am a benedict obsessed person). However, in the end I paid a bit higher because the don't have exact change for me. They basically extra charged me for tips. I am not greedy, but for the service that I got??? I dunno, may be I just went on the wrong day, but.... There goes my first impression. Make sure you get there early if in the weekend.

In an area that lacks many cafe options, The Local Mbassy is a great addition to Ultimo and would blend in easily if it were dropped into the cafe hotspots of Surry Hills or Darlinghurst. Fitted out in a prohibition era theme, there's no gimmick here or any super creative dishes, but the dishes on the menu are contemporary classics and all done well. The service was alright, they just opened so I can understand things not flowing smoothly all the time but everyone was really pleasant and checked up on you. I had a flat white with a glazed cronut and a Big English Breakfast. My friend had a long black and their special, their breakfast roll which was basically bacon and egg with hashbrown and bbq sauce. With the Big English Breakfast you can choose the way you want your eggs done, which was plus. I enjoyed it, though the beans were a little bland. The foodporn star is probably the Red Velvet Pancakes...will definitely have to try that the next time I'm here. Great option if you're in the area, but not necessarily one I'd make a trek for.

Located near Wentworth Park, this small cafe had throngs of people lining up to try their delicious food. It was very busy and because I came on a whim on my own I managed to snag a stool at their counter which was perfectly fine to sit at. The service was ever so friendly and immediately felt welcomed in this buzzing cafe. The main reason I wanted to visit was firstly for the Red Velvet Pancakes and secondly for their Red Velvet Latte. Neither disappointed me. The pancakes were stacked together with mascarpone and strawberries sandwiched in between. It came with a jug of white chocolate sauce. It didn't need too much of it (not a white chocolate fan myself) as it was quite sweet). The pancakes were delicious but could've been slightly less dry. When I first got the latte it was pretty as a picture and thought it would be overly sweet but I was wrong on that part. It was nice and smooth and tasted fantastic. Looks like their signature items shined and can see the popularity behind this place.

I went to this place after seeing a few cool Insta pics of some amazing red velvet pancakes. Anyway got there on a rainy Sunday and there was a little bit of a wait, which was fine. The first waitress had terrible customer service and pretty much no idea. When arriving she said "there's no space", no good morning, sorry it's a bit of a wait blah blah (luckily I'm a polite person so was super polite). When a table became free, she offered it to a couple that walked through the door, failing to remember I was waiting. Luckily another lovely waitress was more with it and recognised the error (I made no complaint) and she directed the table to me. The other couple realised and was no dramas to them, but it could be a problem to some customers these days. Was seated at my table and the theme of the place is rustic with displays of bakery goods and flowers on the table. There's quite an extensive menu but I knew what I wanted to order - the red velvet latte - it was a pink latte, a bit sweet and delicious. They also had matcha lattes. I also got the red velvet Pancakes. Three stacked fluffy red pancakes with strawberries, buttercream and sugar dust. A very nice dish and not too sweet. I'm pretty sure everyone goes there to get them. I also got the scotch egg, two eggs - one open and the other closed for presentation. I cut the second open and the yolk oozed out. it was surrounded by Wagyu meat and a crumb. Accompanied by a potato croquette, rocket and a very tasty capsicum sauce. Nice dish - I couldn't eat everything so took The leftovers home in a takeaway box. The other waitress was lovely, a little too much use of the words "darling and lovely", but at least she had good service skills. She should do the welcoming on the door.

What a great café to grab coffee after a shopping spree in the nearby Fish Market. The red velvet pancake was super yummy! I heard they are taking it off their menu to make room for some new awesome items but I do hope they bring it back. Friendly services, cool décor. Yup, I'm definitely a fan.

We came in thinking it was just a coffee shop, but it's essentially a restaurant that also has a focus on coffee. They have a full bar and a window to the outside where you can order just coffee and tea to go. As for the interior it's dimly lit and sort of has romantic date night vibes. We essentially only ordered coffee and one person ordered a cake slice. The lychee cake was pretty good per my aunt. A couple people ordered the Coco Loco, which is basically an espresso martini on steroids with Nutella and something like a Ferrero Rocher. I ordered a latte and their Affogato. The latte was very smooth and BI is arguably one of the best I've ever had. Is the Affogato a cheat code because they use like a tiramisu ice cream? You could argue that case. You can also buy their blends of coffee beans, subject to availability. While the latte was very smooth, I can't say it was mind blowing but it was still pretty good.

I will say the coffee here and in Australia in general is some of the best coffee I've ever had. I ordered (2) espresso martinis, pancakes, and the sirloin steak breakfast with a side hashbrown. My pancakes were stone cold but I will say the aesthetics on it made it edible. The pistachio butter cream was to die for. My steak was ok ; for the price I simply just wanted more. I could be wrong but I doubt it was even 6oz. If you have this place on your radar be sure to make reservations. This goes for almost every restaurant in Sydney. My server was Cassie who was very personable and even gave us tips on what to watch out for dining in Sydney.
