I can walk up and give the vaguest description -- "classic but not sweet, strong but not too whiskey-forward, smooth but still gives main character energy" -- and they'll just... create it. They've made me drinks that aren't even on the menu -- Army Navy, Aviation, etc. -- and every single one was spot on. They always manage to find the right drink for me, which is honestly a skill more people should have. The servers are genuinely nice, the liquor selection is solid, and the energy is chill without being pretentious. I've also heard there's a speakeasy hidden in here somewhere, and trust me, one day I'll find it like I'm unlocking a side quest. Then we had the crispy Brussels sprouts (ORDER THESE!!!) they were divine, the sesame and lime combination was reminiscent of a great pad Thai, with the perfect amount of sauce and tiny bites of figs which all worked together in a way I wouldn't have expected. For the mains we had the shrimp toast and the pork ribs, both fantastic both well portioned and both 10/10s. Pork ribs fell off the bone easily and were spicy and tangy without overdoing flavor and the shrimp toast tasted like a great gumbo sauce and the shrimps were big! As Grand As it gets…read more I've been stopping in to Seven Grand for well over a decade now O.O and I still love this top notch whiskey bar lounge in Downtown Los Angeles. From fun nights out, special occasions, whiskey tastings, exploring the speakeasy... playing some pool, enjoying libations, taking in live music, perfect outings on the patio, the occasional cigar. So many great memories and experiences created here including some awesome date days with my other half. If stopping in for the first time you'll discover S.G. on 7th and Grand Avenue with a door person usually always at the bottom of the staircase just outside of the restaurant/cocktail bar Zaya (which has been many incarnations including Bar CDMX, V and Mas Malo). Provide them with a valid ID, as anybody over 21 should have a valid form of identification on them at all times, not just for driving or access to 21+ events or establishments, but for safety. And Seven Grand cares about everyone and their safety. They value their staff as much as their customers. And it shows in every way from thoughtful space in all directions, great pool tables, a whiskey, bourbon and scotch curated cocktail menu, even some good brew/beer. Awesome hallways with cabinet lockers, the cleanest restrooms, great dim dark warm lighting, fun fixtures and true DTLA vibes that feel old timey yet also very modern. Seven Grand is open to all and all are welcome. Stellar daily happy hour 4pm to 8pm. I love a good $10 Toki Highball at 5pm, but you can't go wrong with their classic old fashion also. All the bartenders are incredible as well as personable. S Grand is open every day from 4pm until 2am. Loads of lots close by as well as the Metro station at 7th and Metro. Though the trains currently stop just a little after midnight. Rideshare is also your friend, which now includes Waymo in the area. Discover Seven Grand also in San Diego, Austin or Denver.
