Very safe, very accommodating, and I can't wait to return to see more! Casa do Pátio is a courtyard-style hotel with guest rooms, and also adjacent apartments. It has a very Bohemian feel, with a city-sophisticated staff, who are also extremely down-to-earth and friendly. I definitely got a taste of the best of old and new Lisbon staying here, which is exactly what I wanted. Casa do Pátio's buildings are full of charm, with the quintessential look of old Portugal, but the interiors are updated with all the modern conveniences and comforts you need. We had one of the apartments, which are located between the 2nd and 4th floors of a traditional building next to Casa do Pátio. While the hotel rooms are at ground level, the apartments are accessible only via stairs. Each apartment comes with a TV, DVD player, air-conditioning, and a kitchenette. Our apartment had a washing machine, and some come with a dishwasher. It was spacious, with a kitchen/living common room, sizable bedroom, and bath with shower stall. We had some nice views of Lisbon from our 3rd story room. Daily maid service was included. Breakfast is offered, but served through a different hotel (about 4min walk) for 8€. For those in guest rooms in the hotel part, there is a common room with kitchen in the hotel office/reception area. They sometimes serve complimentary snacks there. Free WIFI is great, very strong, and available wherever your room or apartment is. The staff is WONDERFUL! We found them to be super courteous and helpful. Perfect English! They have all kinds of info and tips about the city, and are very eager to help upon request. They helped us with local calls to TAP Air Portugal when we had trouble checking in online before we left (both by calling for us from their land line, AND speaking to them on our behalf to ease language barriers). They also booked us a table at a local restaurant, and scheduled us a taxi at 5am, for our departure day, which we could pre-pay on our c-card right there in the office. Absolutely wonderful of them to think of every need and help at a 4- or 5-star hotel level! We were in Lisbon at Casa do Pátio for 3 nights, during Carnival / Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday), so rooms were sparse and prices were jacked. On Shrove Tuesday itself, some businesses were closed, but Casa was super-accommodating about our multiple inquiries asking what was open, and what we could do (most places were still open, including museums, though some had Sunday hours in effect). We had a great stay and hope to return! * * * TIP * * * MUST SEE - Miradouro de Santa Catarina is very close by, as is Ascensor da Bica. * * * TIP * * * Metro to the airport is cheap and fairly quick. If you prefer, the hotel will call a taxi for you, and they can charge the 15€ taxi fee to your credit card, so you are all reserved/paid in advance. Taxi is a 20min ride from hotel to airport. * * * TIP * * * They are on resident-access-only streets, so if you are taking a taxi, call them ahead, or ask your driver, to assure access into the neighborhood, to prevent having to walk a distance. If you have a rental car, the nearest garage is still a healthy walk with luggage (on cobblestones) from the hotel. * * * TIP * * * Great view from upper floor apartments. * * * TIP * * * For APARTMENTS -- No elevator / narrow staircase. Must climb flights with luggage. * * * TIP * * * If staying in an apartment, bring dollar store items for dish soap, detergent, veggie peeler, etc., which you can leave behind when you go. We were glad to have had these things with us, so we didn't have to waste vacation time trying to find them in stores. They are all more costly in Lisbon.

Uber's GPS would drop you off at the less convenient access spot making it rather difficult to find. TIP: I would use "Rua Gaviotas 11" as the GPS destination address since this would make Uber drop you off at the corner of Rua Gaviotas and Rua Fernandes Tomas. You can then can walk-up Rua Fernandes Tomas then turn left into an alley-like street called Tv. do Caldeira where you'll find the guest house. Our experience was good but not ideal. The rooms are clean and air-conditioned, the beds are very comfortable but the showers are rather tight. Our room had a refrigerator. They had a hair dryer which is a must for my wife. The wi-fi was adequate although it would sometimes drop. They have a small safe thus if you have expensive electronics chance it won't fit and you might have to bring it around you. They have a great breakfast buffet, with good coffee, freshly-squeezed orange juice and eggs cooked to order. They have very helpful and friendly staff and they allow you to store your luggage on site if you come too early or if you want to enjoy Lisbon for a few more hours after check-out. Again, finding the place can be a challenge, and you will have to walk-up a hilly cobblestone street which can be problem if you have to drag a good-sized luggage with you or if your'e out of shape. Overall we enjoyed our stay. I would give them 3.5-stars but not 4-stars.

I stayed in a one-bedroom as well as twin studio. Both were immaculately clean and decorated and beautiful. Also, safety first: front doors are key-only between 11:30pm and 7am (as there is no 24/7 front desk), and the rooms include fire extinguishers, fire blanket, and a camera/intercom system with the main hotel entrance. The location is close to many restaurants & shopping as well as easy public transportation. I much prefered the less crowded, back-alley local establishments for meals. Things to be aware of: - Breakfast is not included but plenty of options around - Some noise can be heard from adjoining rooms (through front door) - 1st floor apartment had LOTS of road noise in living room, but once doors were closed no noise was heard from the bedroom. - Though the area nearby is FULL of restaurants, many closed around 11pm so the surrounding area gets quite empty. No gym but there's a nice supermarket (Celeiro) within walking distance and i definitely got a workout from climbing flights of stairs back to the hotel. The only major downside is we could hear everything going on in the hall and upstairs. There were kids running around in the unit directly above us and it got a little loud at times. Other than that, I loved my stay here!

We were thrilled that we had a little balcony that overlooked the pretty little church accross the street. We could also see the river. There is a little fridge with beer, wine & sparkling water for sale in your room in case you want to indulge after coming in for the evening. They also stock a complementary bottle of still water in your room that they will refill everyday. The elevator was working when we arrived but was out of order when it was time to check out. However, the stairs were not steep and the stairwell was wide so it was easy to walk our luggage down the stairs when it was time to check out. They also have a nice terrace on the back of the hotel that has a nice view of the city. It was a great spot to eat breakfast or sit and enjoy the views after coming in for the evening. The breakfast was outstanding- everything was very fresh and tasty! They had fruits, yogurt, cheese & cold cuts, fresh pastries, quiche, breads, rolls, jams, and they would cook farm fresh eggs to order. Fresh squeezed juice, coffee, and espresso was also available. We were so thrilled, we would definitely stay here again or at one of their other properties in Lisbon, Porto, or Seville. They also arranged a taxi to the airport for us for a flat rate of $25, which made it very easy when it was time to head home. We are definitely fans of this place!

They served us water in a glass and asked if we had any questions about more suggestions for entertainment or any other questions, to reach out to them. The price per night was $84 dollars and we spend a few days at this hotel. We booked the room way in advance and there was no selection on which kind of room to choose from but based on the photos, we stayed in the Superior bedroom, it was a beautiful and spacious room! There was free coffee inside the room, although we didn't have any of it because we don't usually drink coffee. Our room was on the first level near the hotel's bar while our other friend's stayed a few floors up. I recommend this hotel, for the views, friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and central to entertainment.

The location is great too, you are near the metro baixa/chiado statio, Rua Augusta, restaurants, Praça do comercio, the river, alfama, bairro alto, Rossio square, starbucks, etc. The rooms are very comfortable and if you get a bottom bunk you get a curtain and all beds have a power outlet, small shelf and light...also huge lockers under the bed. The washrooms were so clean...the whole hostel was clean. The living room lounge and kitchen are great, they even have a small luggage room and a washing and drying machine. The breakfast is really good too. I went to get breakfast one morning and this young lady greeted me so cheerfully that it started my morning out great. You can also use iPads and computers for free i believe. My favourite part was just meeting everyone and having dinner like just one big happy family. Really easy to talk and meet others. Walking tours and pub crawls are also provided which are great. I will definitely come back for sure. Really sad leaving my Lisbon home.

The connecting room setup worked perfectly for us, plenty of space between the two rooms, and the staff had clearly thought through what families actually need, right down to the football shirts waiting for our kids on arrival. What really stood out was the spa, chromotherapy showers, a jacuzzi, and this bucket contraption that tips warm water on you when you least expect it, sounds odd but the kids were obsessed. Add in a genuinely excellent dinner at the in-house restaurant and a location that puts you right in the middle of old Lisbon, and it's easy to see why this place is so well rated. The hotel offers its guests a number of freebies that are much appreciated. Besides complimentary cook to order breakfast the hotel offers 3 free walking tours around the city and in room mini bar items-such as water, soft drinks, and beer-are also complimentary. The hotel even has various snacks (cookies, snacks, some food items) offered to guests in the lobby entrance as well as a daily happy hour. One final bonus are the 17th century ruins in the downstairs lounge area. Finally, the location is excellent. Corpo Santo is about a minute walk from Pink Street, 5 minute walk from Time Out Market, and very close to a number of tourist attractions in a less densely populated area than other hotels I looked at as well as a short walk from the water. We were each on separate floors, and my sister was even in a separate (though connected) building. I've stayed at boutique hotels before but this one is super 'boutique' wherein no two rooms are the same. Not sure how I feel about that. The hotel is located on the second floor and in between two shoe stores but they sent directions beforehand, so it was pretty clear how to enter the building. Here is some of the good and bad: Pros: -Breakfast is included and it's a pretty decent selection. They even have eggs made to order, and the eggs are super fresh -Free coffee/tea 24/7 -Towel warmers in the bathroom Cons: -We were located on the 6th floor, but the elevator only goes up to the 5th floor. Meaning we had to lug our luggage up and down the stairs. The elevators are also super cramped so if you're claustrophobic, it's definitely not for you -I think the rooms on the lower floors have been renovated because our room looked super old. I'm almost certain there might have been a few murders that went down in our room back in the day, because it just gives that vibe. There's a semi-hidden extra single bed, and some locked half doors in the room. Since it was the top floor, half the room had the slanted ceiling because of the roof -Since ours was an older room, we didn't have a rainfall shower -HUGE dead roach on ground floor of the building, which isn't really the hotels fault but you know if you see one in the building, there is bound to be some in the hotel. Luckily, we didn't come across any other ones, dead or alive The rooms on the booking website looked fine. My family's rooms looked more in line with what we saw online. But I guess they don't really advertise the murder room. Overall, it was just not a comfortable stay. I couldn't wait to leave. At least everything was clean?

It was a good value and clean!
