Wearing a collared shirt and shorts I stopped in to inquire about a product and the woman working asked me to leave my ID on the counter. Puzzled, I said, "What?" She apologized and said they'd been experiencing a lot of theft and were asking all their customers to do so. I informed her that I was going to ask about a product (there was a customer in line). She paused and then said, "Okay". While waiting, two more men came in and picked up items to purchase but she didn't ask them to leave their ID's at any point... I get that some places suffer more from theft than others but if you're going to implement security measures, they should be universal, not arbitrary. That being said, I've never had a proprietor ask me to temporarily surrender my ID, nor would I ever be inclined to do so.

I've been coming here for about 3 years to purchase alcohol as this store has historically had a…read moregood points system for getting hard to find allocated bourbon at or near retail provided you buy other liquor/alcohol in the store. When I stopped in today, the store appears to be under new ownership, the allocated bourbon selection was greatly reduced, and the new points system is a complete joke. As an example, they had Russell's Reserve 13, a $99 MSRP bottle, listed for sale at $195. But to be able to buy that bottle, you needed 1,500 points which means you would have needed to spend $1,500 in the store. So if you wanted an RR13 from this store, that bottle would cost you $1,700. Blanton's would cost you 1,000 points. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof would cost you 500 points. Beyond stupid. Will never come here again.

United Liquor was on the way, and happily, the clerks were quick to help me find this bottle among the many they have for sale. They reached out to me to see if I needed help and were immediately able to tell me where I could find this bottle. Overall, I was impressed with their customer service. I also picked up another bottle of wine for the folks who may not be into white merlot. Can't speak to how expensive their bourbon is, which is mentioned in other reviews. But the wine seemed to be decently priced. This shop also packs in lots of bottles. Don't be turned off because it looks smaller from the outside. Chances are you can find what you're looking for here.

Really more of a convenient store than a market, Village market carries staples like bread, milk,…read moreeggs, deli meats and cheeses, soda, chips, candy, and beer. Conveniently located near a ton of Oakbrook subdivisions, this place is perfect for items that don't really require a trip to the grocery store. I always hate going to Super Kroger to grab bread and milk because they are on opposite sides of the mammoth store, making the trip much longer than it really needs to be. Village Market is only a few months old, so it's very clean and well stocked. There's also a liquor store next door if you need to pick up some wine or whisky. This place is probably just a three store joint, but because it saves me the headache of going to a big box grocery store, I'll give it an extra star.
