My BFF's favorite peaches are here so that's how I found myself in Gettysburg, PA. Lion Potter has lovely pottery, jams, and jelly's which I needed and bought. I also got peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and a sugar water melon. This place is not inexpensive but I prefer to support a family business when the stuff is first rate. That is what The Lion Potter is. We were helped by the owners son who was so sweet. I met the Father who chatted with us. They know my BFF on sight so I had all the introductions. Had a lovely visit. We've always seen their cute bike signs on our adventures down to Virginia so on a recent trip to Gettysburg we decided to stop by. So glad we did! We were greeted warmly by a young man and his siblings. He showed us around the produce stall that had various local items from peaches to corn and everything in between. Behind the stall were shelves of beautiful homemade pottery. He invited us to take a look inside their gallery as there were more items for sale in there, jams, tea, coffee and more pottery. The gallery was air conditioned so it was a nice break from the heat. We ended up purchasing corn, peaches, some jam and fair trade organic coffee. Everything we got was ripe and delicious. Can't wait to stop by again hopefully this fall to see what seasonal items they will have then! read more

Tranquil setting near Gettysburg. It's a family run business. One of the sons helped us out; he was very pleasant. We ended up getting their juicy peaches and the fruit roll ups their mom made. Both were soooo good. The pottery is expensive, but made with love. We bought one with a beautiful blue color. Can't wait to come back next year when we visit Gettysburg again. read more

David and his family are so kind and welcoming.. it immediately felt like coming home for the holidays upon meeting them. I ran across them a couple of years ago by following the "Big Fat Juicy Peaches" signs on 15. The produce was incredible.. and while they may not farm it themselves, it's always fresh and delicious! Their line of soaps are some of the best I've ever used and they have a lot of natural oils available. In that regard, they are incredibly knowledgeable! I make the three hour trip every year to stock up. The pottery is expensive, but beautiful and handmade. Stop and check them out. It's worth it. read more

The Lion Potter was one of my favorite stops when visiting Gettysburg. I intended to only stop by for a few minutes, but was there for a couple of hours, chit-chatting with one of the owners, David Young. This studio/gallery is owned by him and his wife, Junko (such a sweetheart!), and offers beautiful handmade pieces, such as tumblers, plates, mugs, vases, pitchers, bowls, soap dishes, etc. They also do custom work, so if you're interested in something in particular, just give them a ring! I was able to check out their wonderful gallery as well as their kiln, and purchased some locally-made handsoap in the little gift shop area. We just stopped at the Lion Potter after seeing their adorable signs on bikes on the highway! Following the signs down the road was so fun and the reward was an incredible selection of hand made pottery, cheeses, honey, tea and more. We discovered this on the way home to NYC from the DC area. Thanks Susan! So on the way home we found a Farmer's Market. There were home made signs for miles saying dangerously sweet strawberries! We followed the signs and thinking like old school New Yorkers we were hoping the strawberries were real and nobody was waiting at the end of the signs to car jack us! The strawberries were dangerously sweet and the best I have had since I was a small child! I am not sure what all of the pottery is about since I am not into pottery but they sell all of this pottery and the owner went to pottery school in Japan. It is owned by a mixed couple. They are Japanese and African American. They are really sweet. We also got peaches and tomatoes. The Tomatoes were awesome like Jersey tomatoes! We have not tried the peaches yet but I am sure they are just as delicious! We are going to make smoothies with them! We are also having the Asparagus tonight! The produce is really fresh and the people are nice and it is on a road that not much else is on and they let us use their bathroom. They sell their pottery in a historic house and they have a clean bathroom there! read more

We stumbled upon this place from seeing the signs with the bicycles along the road. As soon as we got out of the car the outstanding customer service started. The set up of this place is neat and the jams are delicious as well as great smelling soaps. The pottery is a little expensive however, you get the quality you pay for and its handmade. The Lion Potter is a favorite stop whenever we visit Gettysburg, no matter what season it is. There are signs along Route 15 that first caught our eye. The pottery by David and decorated by Junko is exquisite and we always want to see what is new. I have purchased several items as gifts which are now much loved treasures in homes up and down the East Coast. You wander upstairs and down in a small house to view the offerings. In addition, they sell a selection of jams and spreads, organic eggs and veggies during the farmers market season. My sons are addicted to the red raspberry chocolate spread! David and/or Junko are there to greet you when you pop in and their two children also help out so the service and attention make you smile. Definitely worth the stop! read more

Wonderful family owned business. The produce is always fresh and the service friendly. The owners know and understand what they have and never mind discussing it. They also taught their young sons about the products and how to treat the customers. They have beautiful pottery and art. My wife and I miss stopping in since we moved from town. I have known David for years and he is a fine craftsman of Japanese style pottery! He was trained in Japan and does excellent work! He is also a very gentle soul and loves to talk and make friends. While talking to him cars drive by waving and honking their horns to say Hi! He has pottery of all types and sizes down to coffee cups, fresh fruit and berries in season, fresh breads, soaps honey and more! Although the owner is super nice and the setup is neat, this place is a bit of a tourist trap. The fruit and produce is really overpriced. I stopped here and bought a couple things only to learn that the prices were literally less than half of what they charged here further down the road. It's also questionable where the produce comes from....it's always better to find a farm-side stand with produce that came from the farm behind you. The pottery was also ridiculously expensive. $40 for a mug? I understand it's handmade, but really? $8 for a bar of soap? They had all of this homemade bread inside for sale, but there were flies and bugs all over it. We still went for it, accepting that we're in the country and a fly never hurt anyone. But the girl who rang us up at the register charged us for bread that we wanted to buy, then "forgot" to put it in our bag. We didn't realize we left without it until we were several hours down the road. The whole experience was really disappointing. read more

This place is entirely oversold. The US-15 highway is littered (really, littered) with signs for it, but it's a dinky shop in a driveway/back yard. The produce is not theirs. If you want some expensive pottery, sure. But otherwise, avoid. read more
