So disappointing that they only accept cash. Being that the area is a summer destination it's uncommon for an ice cream spot to only accept cash, especially being right across the street from the beach. I can only imagine how much business they loose because of this. I only had $5 cash on me and had to disappoint my daughter by not being able to get her a milkshake. I couldn't even enjoy having icrecream with my daughter after a day at the beach because I was only able to get her a small cup of ice cream. If it hadn't been for her I would haven't even given this place my money. I will never visit this place again. read more

Wow!! What a classic New Jersey shore town staple. The lighthouse has been a prominent part of all of my childhood beach days. Their famous dessert is truly the perfect way to end a day in the sun. The reason why this is getting three stars instead of five is because at 2 locations, long branch and red bank, I went in to get flavors that were advertised on Instagram (cantaloupe and pumpkin). Day one I went to this establishment for cantaloupe as it was just advertised on Instagram about 20 minutes before. I got there and they didn't have it. A few days later I went to lighthouse and asked for pumpkin, again they didn't have it. The ice cream is good but don't say you have flavors that you don't have. read more

Great hot dog and cheese fries. There should be more places like this in the world (or at least in ny). We got our food quickly and had a lovely time eating on the roof deck looking over ocean Ave and the beach. Saw kids and senior citizens both enjoying their grub. I'd go back. read more

Great Italian ices and ice cream! Really cheap. Really tasty -- the ices and ice cream have a nice quality to them (not too rich, but still pretty solid) -- all in the $3-6 range. Just stopped by here really fast for a dessert after visiting the beach. The staff was really friendly and super fast; didn't have to wait more than 30 seconds even with a crowd around. Cute little tables with umbrellas around to sit and nom if you like as well. read more

I can't wait to go home to visit my family so I can make a trip to the Lighthouse this summer. I always get a cup with soft serve vanilla with blue ices. With every spoonful, I ask myself "Which is better, the vanilla or the ices?" and I just can't decide. It is the creamiest soft serve you will ever taste. Great ice cream and Italian ice. Giving them 1 star because I went there with my 3 year old who really needed to go #1 and the manager said no. I understand for adults or older teens/ kids.. it's not a public restroom.. I wouldn't have asked for it for myself.. but he is three. They saw him doing the legs crossed pee dance. An exception wouldn't have caused anyone any harm, especially when we were buying ice cream and not just using the rest room and leaving. read more

The ices are phenomenal, perfect for those who don't do milk!! They have tons of flavors, my favorite being peanut butter or Oreo!! This location is directly across from a small playground and amphitheater, perfect for being children to or hanging out as a teen!! This is a great place to experience the real taste of summer. I love the original ice flavors more than the newer ones and their soft ice cream is wonderful. I tried their new light ice cream tonight and it was also fantastic. There is a terrific playground across the street for young families or grandchildren. As someone who's allergic to dairy, it's amazing to find a place that serves not only traditional Italian ice favors like cherry, lemon, and blue raspberry, but also favors like peanut butter, chocolate, and cookies and cream. I have been going to the Belmar and Long Branch Lighthouses for years, and the soft vanilla ice cream is soooo good that I am afraid to order any other delights...I was there a few evenings ago and ordered my usual soft vanilla with rainbow sprinkles... and the girl had started making it in a cup instead of a cone. I had stopped her and requested a cone ( NO BIG DEAL) .. She was very very nice... One of her co-workers who had nothing to do with my transaction very rudely and loudly for that matter said, 'Really?" Customer service is as important as wonderful ice cream. . I was very put off by her comment. I left with my CUP of ice cream, it was delicious as usual, and have a bad taste in my mouth left by some smart ass teenager. Grandma's Strawberry Shortcake - This was homemade strawberry sweet cream with strawberry jam swirl and shortbread cookie pieces. This was alright. The crumb pieces were too large, and surprised there was not more of a strawberry taste. Mango Lassi - This was homemade Greek yogurt sweet cream with homemade mango jam swirl. I wished there was more mango. I liked the slight change with Greek yogurt being used and it was very apparent. The sugar and whatever else was used helped to offset the blandness of regular Greek yogurt.

Very tasty and creamy! My second choice for sure.

No seating available - just a register to order, counter, pick-up area, and merchandise section. They only operate as a grab-and-go. I can see it being cramped during rush hours in the morning... luckily I came by on a weekday afternoon and was the only one there. Rook prides itself on having a small and simple menu. They only sell hot pour-over single origin coffee and cold brew. They picked a few things to perfect and do really well. So for espresso lovers, you're out of luck. BUT don't let that steer you away because their drinks are phenomenal. They use high quality, premium beans. The employee was extremely helpful with guiding me through the menu and giving me recommendations. I love that milks and sweeteners are available at no additional charge! They also have decaf and half caf options. I ordered a Vanilla Cold Brew (regular size $5.50) with milk and sugar. And let me tell you... it was love at first sip! It was probably the best cold brew I've ever had. Super smooth, rich, and creamy. The vanilla flavor wasn't overpowering and added just the right amount of sweetness. I definitely understand why so many people love their coffee. I wish there were more locations closer to North Jersey because I can see myself becoming a regular. If you can't visit a storefront, you can buy their cold brew concentrates or coffee beans online. Don't sleep on Rook!

The waffle was unexpectedly very hard. Super crunchy, and he thought a little difficult to eat with a plastic spoon. We got there very close to closing, so, it's possible the waffles might be a different texture when they are fresher. He enjoyed the sundae anyway, and we got some chocolates to take home and tried the next day. The almond bark was good, and the peanut butter non perils he said tasted a little burnt. Everything in the case looked amazing tho, especially the huge cookies!
