Good ice cream spot in pier village. Love that they specialize in ice cream sandwiches. My one complaint is that the warm brownie was only warm and gooey in the middle the rest of it was hard and impossible to eat. They keep the warm on a hot plate which is a great idea but maybe they get overcooked. Would love pistachio as an ice cream flavor option too :) Service was fine. Obvious new summer hires. read more

Wow! You build your own cookie sandwich. You can mix and match cookies if you'd like. Then, you choose the ice cream flavor for your center and finally you can choose from a variety of candies to add to the sides. I choose a snickerdoodle cookie and a Nutella chocolate chip cookie. Both cookies were crispy and delicious. I then choose the Mud Pie ice cream -coffee and brownie. For the sides I choose chocolate chips. Although it was delicious, the portion was way too much for 1 person. It would be a good idea to share. read more

This place...talk about an array of options. They've got every flavor of freshly baked cookies you can think of (brownies, if you want to go another way), and a variety of different ice creams and toppings! Love at first bite ! Such a delicious concept ! You first chose your bottom and top cookie - I did chocolate chip for both , then you choose your ice cream - I did cookies and cream and lastly you chose your topping - I did whipped cream. Reasonable prices for the area, I hope the cookies stay $2 a pop. Lots of great variety. I had a taste of the chocolate chip, Cookie Monster, and macadamia nut. All were warm, soft, and gooey. Not the most exceptional cookies in the world (for that, you'd have to go to Levain Bakery) but definitely worth a stop on your beach trip to warm up or to cool down. The guys and gals behind the counter were quick to serve and kind, even close to closing time. The store is clean and has ample seating (we even parked two strollers next to our table and didn't cause a traffic jam). read more

Found this place on yelp while looking for desert while at Asbury beach. Was glad that I tried this out. Its basically an ice cream sandwich place. Both the ice cream and the cookie were really tasty. There was a fairly large range of choice for both... I selected white choc macadamia for the cookie, and felt that vanilla would go well with this. You can actually mix up the cookies (different type for top and bottom), and also can elect to have the cookie heated. I felt that the price was quite reasonable at around $7, as there was a fairly generous amount of ice cream, and as mentioned everything was delicious. The location itself was pretty cool. There was some outdoor seating. I parked in an unpaved lot across the street. There wasn't any fee, although I'm not 100% sure I was able to park there, as there was also a paid indoor lot as well right across the street. read more

Service was terrible tonight on 10/11 I walked in and said hello to staff and was not greeted for a good 5 minutes. Then when I began saying my order I felt the staff were rushing me, it was late and no people in the store. I was very polite but felt the staff were rude. Oh my gosh, this place is SOOO GOOD! Ice cream sandwiches are summer staple and now you customize your own ice cream sandwich, or just buy their amazing cookies. This months flavor was lemon glazed cooked, and it left me speechless. I love anything lemon. The cookie had the perfect balance of lemon and glaze. It wasn't too sweet or tart. Honestly, I only tried the cookies and I was quite disappointed. They didn't even warm them up! They were hard, not at all the texture I'd want in a cookie. They did taste alright but still nothing special. Would have to come back and try the ice cream! Hopefully it's better but I will say the decorations and vibes in the store are super cute. read more

As to be expected, this place is amazing. Build your own ice cream cookie sandwich?! Who can pass on that! Choose your cookie (pictured their gooey butter cake), ice cream (butter brittle cake), and a topping (rainbow sprinkles). You can't choose wrong. Definitely grab cookies to go. What do you want me to say? It's Ice Cream! It's pretty hard to screw this one up, LOL! I got a 'Bear Bowl,' & my chosen options were the Chocolate Chip Cookie lined bowl w/Cookie Dough ice cream, Brownie Bits, & Hot Fudge. So why only 3 stars? Because they only have about 8-10 ice cream flavors to choose from. I guess I just expected more of a selection. Less can be more in this case, but that's my review none the less. read more

This is such a cool new little spot in long branch. And it's a big hit too. Who doesn't like an ice cream sandwich!? When you walk in people are warm and welcoming. You get to pick your choice of cookie, and there's quite a few, all fresh baked. You then get to pick your ice cream and toppings for the cookie. They can also warm or toast it in this waffle looking thing. And I think the price was just right for it. We got cookies and cream ice cream, and pb chocolate chip cookie-which was good but I think a different ice cream could of went better (left it to my husband lol). It was awesome and we will be back to try more. read more

I've been begging my husband to take me to the Baked Bear for weeks after seeing these amazing pictures online and we finally got there! Amazing. So many choices to pick from for the cookie, ice cream, and topping. I got the cookie monster cookie with dark chocolate ice cream and sprinkles warmed up and it was epic. Quick service too. One thing that they DON'T have though is... Peanut butter! No peanut butter cookies, no peanut butter ice cream, and no peanut butter toppings. I felt bad because my husband only likes peanut butter ice cream and he was looking forward to completely going peanut butter overload on his cookie but there wasn't a single thing with peanut butter available. They had a lot of other kinds of nuts available so it didn't seem to be an allergy thing, but who knows. He ended up getting the banana chocolate chip cookie with blackberry crumble ice cream and Nutella drizzle and it was okay but maybe an odd combo. Please add peanut butter to your options so I can convince him to come every week!!! read more

Best Ice Cream Sandwiches with an array of options! I stumbled upon the Baked Bear after eating dinner at a nearby restaurant and so happy I found this spot. Their menu is vast with so many options of cookies, ice cream flavors and toppings. My ice cream sandwich consisted of a confetti cookie for the top layer, vanilla ice cream in the middle and a snickerdoodle cookie for the bottom layer. The great and patient staff member who helped me offered to warm my ice cream sandwich, which is an option for all, and I certainly said yes. I added whipped cream as my topping as well. I enjoyed my delicious ice cream sandwich as I sat at the outside seating area. read more

Love this spot in Pier Village, honestly an amazing idea to bring this place here! I really like all the different choices you have in making an ice cream sandwich. I'm old enough to remember living in the age of 'BC' (Before Chipwich) and then in the 80's this delicious frozen treat just started to appear in every store's freezer. It seemed so obvious (cookies and ice cream, a huge improvement on the classic ice cream sandwich with the chocolate wafers that always deteriorated in your hands) - why hadn't someone thought of it much earlier? Cut to the present and your family gave Long Branch Beach a try on a whim and right before the time is up on your parking spot you see this small 'ice cream sandwich shop' and when you put it up for a vote with the rest of the family between hot dogs at the WindMill or ice cream at the hip little shop right by the car... well, you know which one was going to win. The Baked Bear improves on the Chipwich formula... "Hey - you tell us what kind of (soft) cookie you want on the bottom, which kind on the top, what flavor of (delicious) ice cream between the cookies, if you need any toppings and what if we said we could also warm up those cookies for ya?" It's pricey but it's not a skimpy portion and it's just outrageously scrumptious. Two young ladies behind the counter were really friendly although the crowds come in waves so the place gets backed up pretty easily. (No matter how fast of an eater you might be... definitely grab a few napkins before you leave. Trust me.) read more

You get to choose the top cookie, bottom cookie, ice cream, and ice cream topping! Honestly there's gotta be over 1000 different combos. Plus you can substitute the top or bottom cookie for a brownie instead O_O I wound up getting a s'mores top cookie, cookies n cream bottom cookie, espresso ice cream, and brownie bits. Perfect for a summer treat! I wish there were more vegan/dairy free options. I love how friendly the staff are. The chipwiches are definitely for those with a sweet tooth but are delicious. Our thoughts: - salted PB chocolate cookie was very salty but good - banana chocolate chunk was tasty - vegan chocolate chip was good, but definitely crunchier than the non-vegan cookies - chocolate chip was very sweet but yummy - salted caramel fudge ice cream was very creamy - vegan chocolate chip ice cream (soy milk-based) wasn't very creamy but tasted good We asked for our chipwiches to be heated, but they did not feel warm at all. (Obviously, they can only be heated so much since the ice cream will melt, but it felt as though they weren't heated at all. Maybe heat the cookies first and then add the ice cream?) I am aware this business just opened up otherwise I would give it two stars for technical error. Went in for a cookie and it was heated up to the point that there was no structure and was insanely messy to eat. The cookie could not be broken it sort of just became mush. I think the worker heated it to the level they would with for an ice cream sandwich, in which the cookie would cool down very quickly and would prob be ok. I think the directions and protocol should be different if someone walks in there wanting a cookie. As a small business owner myself I hope this place gets very busy this summer ! I will be back for an ice cream sandwich next time ! read more

Unfortunately, for my waste and wallet I may need to stop here every beach visit. Ice cream sandwiches are my jam. What's not to like!? You get to choose your cookie ( top and bottom ) or you can choose a brownie or you can mix them up. You then choose your ice cream flavor, toppings, AND can even ask to get it warmed up. Choice of 2 Freshly baked cookies + ice cream + toppings = ONE OF THE MOST DELICIOUS THINGS I'VE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE!!!! Chocolate chip cookie on one side, Mexican Chocolate Cookie on the other, vanilla ice cream & sprinkles, and warmed up in a waffle press to warm the cookies. Heaven in my mouth. My wife also said it's one of the most delicious things she's ever eaten. She got chocolate chip cookies with cookie dough ice cream. To be fair the ice cream and cookies are great. I just don't like how stingy you can be with the ice cream scoops. These were the smallest scoop of ice cream fir $7. Also, on the board it says come or cup Ans extra only fir waffle cones. But they only have waffle cones available. A bit misleading. Charge me for quality food but please don't give me ice cream that's more a size of a tasting then a full serving like other places in the area. Go somewhere else bec the ice cream is just as good as any other place in the area. read more

The crumbs were too soft, and the actual lime ice cream overpowered that. Porta - This was a porta ricotta and virgin olive oil sweet cream ice cream. This was solid but could not really taste the olive oil and ricotta presence. It tasted ever so slightly, but the sweet cream flavor was good. Pistachio - This was my favorite flavor tried of the day. I liked the pistachio pieces and the actual cream, which was very fulfilling.

I stopped by the Long Branch location, located in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The interior is pretty small. No seating available - just a register to order, counter, pick-up area, and merchandise section. They only operate as a grab-and-go. I can see it being cramped during rush hours in the morning... luckily I came by on a weekday afternoon and was the only one there. Rook prides itself on having a small and simple menu. They only sell hot pour-over single origin coffee and cold brew. They picked a few things to perfect and do really well. So for espresso lovers, you're out of luck. BUT don't let that steer you away because their drinks are phenomenal. They use high quality, premium beans. The employee was extremely helpful with guiding me through the menu and giving me recommendations. I love that milks and sweeteners are available at no additional charge! They also have decaf and half caf options. I ordered a Vanilla Cold Brew (regular size $5.50) with milk and sugar. And let me tell you... it was love at first sip! It was probably the best cold brew I've ever had. Super smooth, rich, and creamy. The vanilla flavor wasn't overpowering and added just the right amount of sweetness. I definitely understand why so many people love their coffee. I wish there were more locations closer to North Jersey because I can see myself becoming a regular. If you can't visit a storefront, you can buy their cold brew concentrates or coffee beans online. Don't sleep on Rook!
