The Liberty Theater - Cinema Near Me - Camas, Washington

My newest discovery is the Camas Independent Film Festival at the Liberty Theatre. They bring films you might not even find in Portland, and sometimes they bring films in the festival/Sundance world. I saw one in their small theater, Theater 3. It was clean, the picture was good, and the sound was good. The seats are reserved. The staff was great. I don't do concessions, so no idea on that. The price was reasonable. The Liberty Theater is in a thriving walkable downtown of small businesses. On a Saturday, the free parking was congested, but plentiful a few short walking blocks away. Two breakfast diners can both prosper next door to each other. The theater completes downtown, and is well worth visiting if you are in the neighborhood, or seek a film not showing elsewhere in the area. read more

What a gem Liberty Theater in Camas is. My family and I have been here on multiple occasions and it always reminds me of what a movie theater should be. Reasonably priced tickets so the whole family can go without breaking the bank. Up today date movies that are current and of interest. Also, I can't think of another theater that has such reasonably priced snacks/beer/wine! With all of these things going for it, there's never a reason to visit a neighboring theater in Vancouver. Second time here in a year. I must make this a regular place to visit for my sanity. There is nothing absolutely nothing like being in a big theatre. I sure missed it! Popcorn with extra butter Yes please!! So good. Big cold soda with ice Ahhhh! A little sweets to balance the salty corn palate perfect The fun part is the variety of big names and more eclectic options to view here. A few theatre's in one here so plenty to choose from. I bought tickets on line and even though there's an outdoor ticket window all business is inside so just walk in. The staff is super welcoming and helpful. No one looks grimly bored with their work... refreshing! Comfortable seats with built in cup holders yeah! Clean bathrooms and truly $7.50 price for single ticket is a value. Go 30 minutes early parking on the street easygoing. Free parking!! Seats are selected by you when you order on line. Love that no worries about finding seats we need. My spouse and his brother have extremely limited eyesight so seating is a premium concern. I came here last night to see Jared Leto movie, Morbius. It was showing in the small theater. This was my first time sitting in here. I have to Say at first I was just appointed it wasn't a big beautifully appointed theater. However, I enjoy the movie very much. The small room made it seem like I was at home on my couch :-) the tickets are very reasonable, the staff is excellent. You can now order beer and wine. They have popcorn in a full snack bar. I highly recommend this place for a movie experience. read more

Liberty Theatre takes me back to my childhood. From the street, it is beautiful--lights, movie posters and lighted billboard that features events. We got our tickets online and picked up a stout, popcorn and kombucha at the counter--all reasonable at prices. This theater is clean and thoughtfully cared for. And it's an exact layout of my hometown theater that I frequented for Saturday matinees. Liberty has been restored to its original glory--expansive theater with updated projection and sound. The seats looked authentic to the yesteryear era but were clean and almost comfortable. I loved the selection of screenings advertised prior to the movie start--operas, world movies (aka foreign films), filmed events that I don't typically see but would enjoy. We could have enjoyed an old fashioned cocktail after the movie in downtown Camas--and next time we will. Thank you for a pleasant evening and for prompting a flood of memories in this beautiful space with attentive service. We'll define back! read more

The price was right, but the seats were very uncomfortable and the lights on the walls were left on (low) during the movie, causing a distraction. The historic theatre in downtown Camas is charming to look at from the outside, but could use some updating inside. Concession pricing is reasonable for a theatre in this day and age and ticket prices are about half of what you would pay to see a newly released film. Waiting a couple of extra weeks for films to get to the Liberty is definitely worth it. We would normally wait a little longer for them to be released on Netflix, so the main reason to go to the Liberty is for a night out. However, my La-Z-Boy is MUCH more comfortable. Mi husband and I were literally harassed by an older gentleman manning the front door. To say that he was incredibly rude would not describe what he put us through. Apparently we were not able to produce ticket stubs quickly enough for him and he needed to set an example. He was screaming at the top of his lungs reasons why he was stopping us to check our stubs!!! He had to explain because we'd already showed him tickets THREE separate times!! My husband declared "come on sir" I know you remember us ..... We'd JUST showed him our tickets for the third time before stepping outside not five minutes prior (it was soooo hot in the theatre itself at least 80 degrees!!!) so uncomfortable! Personally I would never return to liberty based on this experience because I don't ever want to see his face again (he almost made me cry he was being so mean in front of our teenage daughters) but we've already purchased tickets to see gone with the wind! I feel like he was personally annoyed with the crowd that presented to see the lil peep movie. He was judging based on how we look. We just moved to Camas and I thought that this would be my new Berkely theatre, a place to go and see films not readily available at other places but instead we left so so disappointed and JUDGE read more

This is a quaint, local, old fashioned movie theater. The prices are old fashioned too, the tickets are only $3.75. There is one main auditorium and one smaller auditorium that is being currently renovated, scheduled to be open in June 2013. The movie selection is fine, few blockbusters, some independent films and some documentaries. Right now they are showing Oscar nominated short films, which is pretty cool. It took me a while to decide between 4 and 5 stars. I love supporting local businesses and naturally, I love paying less instead of more (yes, Cinetopia, I am talking about you:) but I am disappointed in the snack options. Being local business and not a chain, Liberty should have free reign to offer tastier options than Milk Duds etc. Sure, some traditional folks just need their "theater refreshments", but please add something that is actually real food, perhaps some locally made goodies. Ohhh the memories. This is, has been, and always will be my favorite theater. How can you go wrong? Well, by not selling tickets in the ticket booth I guess, I prefer getting my tickets there, but I guess some things have to change. But seriously. I love this theater. It's small and beautiful and old and a part of my childhood so obviously I had to take my son. We saw beauty and the beast and we had a wonderful time. I got my adult beverage and my son got his water and a snack. We had the theater almost to ourselves aside from the older couple that came in right before the movie. This is a great little throwback theatre with character and the prices are great by today's standards. They play current movies and movies that aren't playing at the bigger theatres. The seats are comfy and the there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The only reason I took a star away is that the bald guy with the glasses (manager I think) Is so rude and generally unpleasant when he interacts with people. I love this little gem in downtown Camas! Movies are cheap, the theater is never uncomfortably packed, they serve alcohol, regular movie snacks AND have GF options! Most of the staff is very friendly (I've only encountered one who didn't seem thrilled to be there) and the theater itself is very charming and clean. You need to review the courtesy of your workers. Unfortunately the theater is older and the sound insulation is not well. Sitting up above or near the concession stands there was a lady who wouldn't quiet her voice even while cleaning and no customers around. I came up to ask her politely, thinking she didn't realize her voice carried, and she right after bad mouthed me to other customers. My friend was right behind me and heard her talking "smack". I just asked nicely. Pretty much ruined the situation, sorry to say. read more

This theater is almost my favorite if staff had some sort of customer service skills. I gave staff a chance before I yelped about my experience. I have been to the movies about 3 times and with every interaction with staff was horrible. No smile , no greetings and no thank you! I I finally asked the women's name as she said she might have to charge for my 19 month old son that was in a stroller. Her name is Jessica. I informed her the last 2 times I can she did not change ( prob cause I got tickets online) but she said well I will take a look at him and make the choice to charge or not. Wth, ok. Anyways I dread her interactions because she projects nothing positive, happy or pleasant. Also, greeting customers is a must in my book and when I have to greet the worker first says a lot about a business . I hope management see this post and has a talk with its employees as they do not show grade A service at all. Get some young pleasant employees that make it exciting when u go see a show please!!!! read more

Something of a trek from Portland, but it's a really nice second run screen. Probably the cleanest, most comfortable theater for $3.50 in the metro area. Great old rocking seats, and while it doesn't have stadium seating, the slope of the auditorium is really nice. read more

Love supporting local business. This theatre is small with a nostalgic feel and great atmosphere. We were excited to spend our afternoon here. This feeling was quickly ruined with the horrible customer service we received. The man who sold us our tickets was friendly and great. The girl at the concession stand was not friendly, and in fact, was extremely rude. After purchasing tickets, I purchased a large popcorn and to drinks. The drinks were not refillable, as in the larger, chain theaters. I was also okay paying an extra dollar to get butter on my popcorn. When we sat down, my daughter opened a can of Buble water she had brought with her. She also brought a small bag of grapes. YES I know outside food and drink are prohibited, so when the gal from gal from the concession stand immediately approached us, telling us she heard the drink being opened and that it was not allowed, we were surprised, yet understanding; after all, rules are rules. My daughter immediately got up and threw the drink in the trash. She put her unopened grapes back in her purse and that was that...or so we thought. The concession gal returned and confronted my daughter again, to which my daughter replied she had thrown it away. The gal then proceeded to go to the back of the dark theatre, turn on her flashlight, and search the garbage cans. She again approached my daughter and told her since she had seen the grapes, she was going to have to take them and hold them at the counter until the movie was over. The harassment of this employee was ridiculous and ruined our entire experience. I will not return to this theatre again. For a few dollars more, I will support the bigger chain theaters where the drinks and popcorn are refillable, the employees are friendly and do not harass the customers, and there is a large selection of showtimes and movies. Unfortunately, it is places like this that are adding to the extinction of small, local business. read more

This little movie theater is the best. Cheaper than traditional movie theaters, bigger seats, more foot room! Less crowded too! The concessions are reasonably priced (not $8 for a popcorn!) and they have kid "snack pack" options for like $5! the staff there has alway been kind and quick. The don't play new releases but that doesn't bother me, is rather wait and see it at this local joint. The place is just neat! read more

My fiancée and I greatly enjoyed having date nights here as it was under 20 dollars. This would include 2 tickets, a large bucket of popcorn, and 2 medium drinks. It is also in the downtown setting of Camas which helps attract less unfavorable movie goers that perhaps a larger chain of theaters would. The theater also participates in deals where local restaurants would give you 2 free movie tickets with the purchase of 2 dinners on a Friday night. This makes having a date affordable and fun. The ambiance of the theater is great. Being situated in an old opera house, makes for enhanced acoustics and a wonderful relaxed setting that anyone could enjoy. The colors are pleasing to the eye and mixed with the low lighting makes for a calm environment. The seats are comfortable and spacious. I also feel that the staff is happy to help you; the service is always great. read more

We went to see a movie in the smaller auditorium at the Liberty, I think they call it the Granada studio. It appears to seat only about 29 people. Since we frequent the Living Room theaters in Portland we are familiar with small auditoriums where you reserve your actual seats in advance. This is great because you don't have to worry about not getting a good seat or having to arrive too early. As far as the viewing experience, the Granada studio was comparable to the state of the art screening rooms at the Living Room theater. Great value if you are comfortable with these small viewing rooms. We will be back. read more

I've gone to the Theater twice since it opened last month. Both times have been GREAT! The theater is much cleaner & nicer than when it was open before. The staff is very friendly. It's only $3.50 a movie & the concessions are MUCH cheaper than Regal theaters so your whole family can go to the movies & get snacks for less then $30. It's a great theater! read more

Keep this place alive. Doing us a service in making movies available on the large screen and we can afford them. Yes, we have to be patient, but we can enjoy them. We plan to go as often as we can.
