This is my go-to theater to see new releases. Tickets cost less than other theaters, but it is a quality space. Staff is friendly and helpful, and their popcorn is hands down the best of all the theaters. Seats are comfortable and the theaters are always clean. Parking is ample. The theater is very handicap accesible. Give this place a try next time you want to see film. You'll be glad you did. read more

Great local theater. It will be our new movie watching home. The whole place is really clean. None of the chairs have obvious stains, the floors aren't sticky or dirty, and the bathrooms are spotless. The chairs are comfortable and the theater we were in had the volume at a good level and isn't freezing cold. The employees are wonderful. We had a cashier and the General Manager assisting us and both were friendly and helpful. The popcorn is the best movie theater popcorn we've ever had. It was a nice surprise. The best part is that, unlike other theaters nearby, this one didn't have twenty minutes of ads before the trailers. That meant the movie started at a normal time. We live near a couple of those large chain cinemas, but this is where we'll be going from now on. This theater also has movies for $5 all day and night on Tuesdays. 10/10 recommend. read more

As the only cinema in Sandy it could've been much worse. That being said it wasn't a stellar or even particularly charming theatre. This was easily one of the worst theater experiences my family has had. We came in with our tickets already purchased and ordered some food and drinks. Only a few seconds after we were handed our drinks, my dad was simply looking around for the straws. The worker then hit him with a sarcastic "I'll help you down there, sorry" and an attitude. I picked up on it immediately, but we ignored it and went on to the movie. Halfway through the film, we found out one of our family members had been kicked out because the workers refused to sell him a drink for his daughter. When he asked for the drink, Logan loudly yelled "NO," forcing him to go back and tell his daughter he couldn't get her a soda. The workers were rude, dismissive, and even laughed in his face. They admitted they didn't mind ruining her Thanksgiving just because they didn't want to make a soda. Quinn, who claimed to be the manager, allowed Logan's behavior without doing anything about it. The theater itself was also in terrible condition. Trash cans overflowing, dirty bathrooms, and an auditorium littered with trash that clearly hadn't been cleaned. Terrible customer service and a filthy environment. We won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Unfortunately I'm an idiot and didn't take pictures of the trash cans and whatnot, but I'm sure if you went recently or on thanksgiving you'd agree. read more

We went to see a movie tonight at Sandy Cinema and were just walking down the hallway laughing and enjoying our night, like normal people do when they're out having fun. An employee at the end of the hall suddenly told us we were being "way too loud," completely overreacted, and then actually called the cops on us and had us kicked out for literally no reason. We were honestly shocked. As local customers, we've been here before and have never dealt with anything like this. It was extremely unprofessional and really disappointing customer service. Situations can be handled without escalating things to that level, especially when there was no real issue to begin with. Management might want to think twice about who they're hiring to represent their business, because this employee completely ruined what was supposed to be a fun night. Sandy Cinema has consistently been our go-to local theater. The staff are great, the food is good, and my family loves this place!

My boyfriend and I enjoy going to the movies and the staff has always been nice to us. The people are just doing their jobs. People who go there just need to be respectful like you would be at any business you go to. the cinema is clean, and I really love the old Hollywood actors photo on the wall. Its history and those people would have been deeply offended at how some people act towards the staff. If you get a chance to go to Sandy Cinema you should it's a nice place. read more

Everytime I come here they just give me another reason to not. The last time I went here to watch the movies with my friends, the old guy who i belive was/is their manager was extremely rude and unthoughtful. We were just trying to get our tickets and he was making rude comments and complain about us right in-front of our faces. The next time I went he was talking to the other employees how he wishes he could punch the customers. That is not only violent and extremely weird, but also he was saying it right infront of children. I have already filed a complaint about him but nothing changed. Then I went there again and the old guy that stands in the hallway was getting into our faces. Bassically I was trying to get my mom from the movie she was watching because they wouldnt let us into the movie we were trying to watch. He then proceeded to start yelling into my friends faces. The only good thing I have ever had at this theter was the red head guy. He came over and helped us when no one else would. I wish I had gotten his name but unfortunately I didn't. Purchased tickets for a showing on Friday November 28th as along with many other people sat in the rain because they sold tickets to movies then proceeded to to not open their establishment. Then they were rude to my wife about the refund she was calling to ask about, And that I had to physically go in to get a refund and then I had to come back in because they didn't refund 100% of my funds and said I don't get the online transaction money back although they chose to not open their doors. John (general manager believe I'm his tag said), eventually and seemed reluctant but gave me the $4 back and then said I was no longer welcome back because of this scenario. Absolutely won't be back until the owners clean up their mess of employees, seems like there has been multiple instances of similar manners the last few days. read more

Started off with logan yelling about being at work as we walked in. Which was uncomfortable. Logan rang us up and was rude. 20 min into movie my daughter wanted a soda. I went to get a drink and heard Logan yelling and complaining again. There's was a female employee standing by the food and I asked if I could get a soda, she yelled to Logan who loudly yelled back NO! I was disappointed and went back to tell my daughter the news. 20 minutes pass and 2 younger gentlemen come back into the theatre with sodas and popcorn. I was a little upset as rude Logan just told me no. I went back out and Quinn was standing at the register. I asked for a soda and he was right about to tell me they were closed but I interrupted and explained what just happened he said. I was upset and explained that I thought it was BS. Quinn said not to talk to him like that ( I was not mean to Quinn just visibly upset) as I was explaining what a horrible experience this has been with logan yelling and complaining then telling me they were closed when they weren't. Quinn then said I could leave. I asked if he really wanted me to go get my daughter and leave the theatre and he said yes with a smirk on his face. I asked how he doesn't understand that I'm frustrated. His response was he didn't like my attitude. I asked for the managers name and Quinn claimed to be the manager. I told Quinn this ruined my daughters night all because they were being lazy and not wanting to work. He laughed with smirk. Lived in Sandy 30 yrs and used to go all the time, but I will never go back. Service has been going downhill for years. read more

Great experience... theater was clean, super Tuesday pricing ($5 any movie, all day, any age) was awesome... staff was friendly and overall helpful!! Screen was in good repair... this is a great location that appears newer or in good repair! Regular pricing has student, military, senior, and child options... additionally the are matinees which save a few dollars! The sound was great... Pricing at the concession stand was not bad and the popcorn was good as was the drink. They serve beer and wine here which is cool. I will have to try some food here another time! read more

Decided to see US at the Sandy Cinema. Been here before, it being our local theater. Staffed by mainly teenagers of course. Generally they are reasonably cordial. As I was waiting in line I happened to see one of the mini racks they cook some of the food on. EEEKK! Pretty crusty. We went to a 2 pm showing and the theater was super dirty. (Alejandro G) My review of Sandy Cinema: The movie theater itself seems alright, but this rating is based of treatment. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm having a difficult time understanding these teenagers actions. Parents: Have a conversation with your kids about ethnic equality. I bought a ticket at 9:30, 30 minutes before the showing at 10pm. Based off of the seating chart, I was going to be the only one in the auditorium for the showing of the movie "Old" by M. Night Shyamalan. I was really excited to see this movie as I have very little free time raising 2 kids and working construction. When I was walking into the auditorium, I was stopped and informed I couldn't take my backpack in the theater for "safety reasons". Considering the theater was empty, it seemed as though there was no one in the theater who's safety I could even compromise. I'm assuming it's because I'm Mexican and Sandy is a pretty conservative town, and it's inevitable for any Hispanic with a backpack to have judgements made upon them at some point. The only reason I wanted to keep my backpack with me was because I had my Nintendo switch and other expensive electronics ($700 worth of stuff) and my car window just got smashed and someone wrote racial slurs on the side a week prior and so anything in my car could easily be stolen. I explained this to the teenage manager behind the counter but she refused to let me keep it with me. The young African-American woman (I didn't catch her name) was very kind and quickly refunded my ticket so for her service I will give this establishment 1 star. I love this town but this is the first and last time at this theater for me. I will be taking my business to Gresham Regal where they always allow backpacks and make reasonable accommodations. The manager even gave my kid stickers! Its 20 minutes away but they have actual security and fewer personal restrictions. Went to see The Green Hornet here after calling around. Sandy had the best prices on 3D and 2D movies. They were the only cinema in the area that had the film in 2D. When my son and I showed up 15 minutes late the had not started the film. The manager had the film started and my son and I enjoyed. The price was about $2 less per person. The cinema itself is clean and the seat recline and you can also lift the arm rest up...its great for cuddling. Its worth the drive out to Sandy to see. read more

We see a lot of movies and this little theater is one of our favorites. The seats are comfy and have just enough recline. The ticket prices are good and staff is friendly. They always ask how you liked the movie and what you thought of it. We did a double feature the other day and started out in Gresham for our first one and headed here for the last movie, Rite. We would have saw both here, but waited too long to see Tron 3D and they didn't have it anymore. They do rotate the movies often here since it is a smaller theater with 8 screens. You can rent a theater out for birthday parties and play xbox on the big screen. read more

Small theater, feels like being in a private screening room. Staff was friendly, nachos were ok (semi stale chips, but they gave me tons of the cheese food stuff and jalapeños - my indulgence at movies and no where else!) My husband had a hot dog that actually looked like real food - though the condiments all came from packets. It was nice to be able to stay in town and see a new release without any crowds. The staff at Sandy Cinemas is always friendly and helpful, but the theatre room itself could use a deep cleaning. While the seats lean back and are comfortable, the fabric feels grimy and dirty. This was in the theatre room where "The Post," was playing and it was a late showing. I realize the theatre just went through a deep cleaning, but the seats we were in felt pretty dirty. Typically we love this theater. The seating is great the theater is clean and the people are great. Unfortunately the last several times we have had to purchase tickets inside. The problem with this is that you have people wanting to buy hundreds of dollars of snacks and you have to wait. I just want to buy my ticket and find my seat. And too top off our visit today we had Brynn help us today. She forgot to ring up stuff, they were out of water so she "had to charge us $4.50" for a cup of tap water! Smaller theater, having to buy tickets inside at the snack counter can be annoying when there's people buying lots of snacks. But the theater is fairly clean, and the seats are pretty comfortable. Also, less crowded than the inner city theaters. So that's nice. All in all, not the newest most high tech theater, but surprisingly good quality for a small town. read more

We have rented the Cinema out twice, although the price has since gone up we would prob do it again. The first time, there was an ice storm and the employees walked out into the parking lot and helped the kids. The other time was for a fundraiser, agin the staff was helpful in assisting us plan the event as well as the day of. As for the regular movie and snack bar cost....WAY cheaper then anyone! They even offer popcorn seasoning for free, the kids love that :) read more

Went and saw Rings. It was probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Like really bad. Have you ever seen Trolls 2? Like pretty much that bad. I enjoy coming to this theater for an occasional movie splurge with my husband. Clean theater, friendly ushers. They DO check bags for outside snacks...I've been caught every time. The popcorn is what you would expect, crisp and crunchy with a perfect balance of butter and salt. The theaters are intimate, so I do recommend going with your hunny for a romantic comedy or thriller. read more

Bought tickets to a show, and after buying them and our concessions snacks, then they disclosed there was a tear in the screen. If it bothered us, we could get money back they said. The tear bothered us, so no problem, we'll get our money back - and only asked for the ticket money back, not the concessions. When we tried (about 10-15 minutes into the show), we were then told no refunds, that it was an error we were offered refund before, but we could get a gift certificate to come back. We didn't want to come back to a business that would flat out lie to our faces (it was the manager who served us both times) and use such business practices (disclosing the tear after purchase of tickets and concessions to boot). Basically, they can't be trusted and don't stand by their own mistakes or quality. We've since gone to a big box place in Gresham. Much bigger screens, better viewing times, better selection (beer and wine too), bigger rooms so I don't feel all cramped in, better sound and better experience.. and best of all, excellent service that has always been upstanding. The only thing I have to thank Sandy cinema for is being such an unscrupulous business, we were pushed to find something we liked much better. So, my advice is, if ever you are put into a situation to trust an offer Sandy Cinema makes, do so with caution. We see dozens of movies a year and are avid snackers too, and I'm happy that my money stopped supporting thieves and liars. read more

This place is a complete joke since the General Manager left. There is NEVER enough staff to support demand, the lobby is dirty, the customer service has gone so down hill it's almost funny. I always see employees and the GM standing around in the back when there's a huge line. I used to love going to the movies in Sandy and now I only go to Regal in Gresham. Usually we have good experiences at this theater. Tonight was NOT a good experience. We arrived in time to purchase our food and tickets, but waited in a line of people who were not being properly taken care of. This led to an over 20 minute wait and us being late to the start of our movie. Not sure what is going on in this theater, but it is being poorly managed. My wife also mentioned that the bathrooms were the dirtiest she has ever seen them. We may just make the drive to Gresham next time. Sorry to say this as we like to support our small town businesses when we can. read more
