My twin girls have been attending The Learning Garden since they were 2 years old. When we moved to the South Bay from West LA, my husband and I were in the middle of closing on our home and were worried about finding reliable childcare while balancing our demanding full-time careers. As working parents, we had previously relied on a nanny. As our girls got older, we wanted them to experience a preschool environment where they could socialize, learn, and become more independent. Thankfully, we found The Learning Garden, and they exceeded every expectation. From the very beginning, Ms. Nassim, Ms. Zora, and the entire staff made us feel welcomed and reassured. Starting preschool can be emotional for any parent, but they kept us informed about how our girls were adjusting and always made us feel confident they were in caring hands. Every day, my girls came home excited to share a new song they had learned or proudly show off their artwork. Over the years, we watched them grow in so many ways. They became more independent, learned to use the potty on their own, washed their hands, practiced taking turns, and developed important social and emotional skills. They know their ABCs and 123s, can spell their names, and have grown so confident. They're no longer shy and have learned to use their voices and speak up for themselves. The monthly themes and activities made learning fun, and we loved being able to participate as parents. The holidays were especially memorable--we celebrated together and even shared those moments with Grandma and Auntie, making The Learning Garden feel like one big, joyful community and extended family. The Learning Garden has been so much more than a daycare--it has been a loving, nurturing community for our family. As our girls begin TK at their neighborhood public school this fall, we feel confident they are well prepared for this next chapter because of the strong foundation The Learning Garden helped build. We are truly going to miss Ms. Nassim, Ms. Zora, and the entire staff. Thank you for loving and caring for our girls as if they were your own. Choosing a daycare and preschool for your kids is easily one of the most terrifying, important decisions you make as a parent. Looking back now, picking The Learning Garden was one of the best choices we ever made for our family. We had both of our boys enrolled here for a combined total of seven and a half years. Both of them started in the infant room at just four months old, moved up through every single age group and classroom, and ultimately graduated. Watching them grow up in such a nurturing environment was everything we could have hoped for. First and foremost, our boys were always safe, genuinely happy, and loved. But beyond the daily care, the preparation for school was unbelievable. When both of our boys started TK at new schools, their teachers noted how far ahead they were both academically and socially compared to their peers. They were completely ready for the transition, and that is a direct result of the wonderful foundation built at The Learning Garden. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the staff. The core group of women working with these kids every day are absolute gems. So many of them have been there for years, and their experience shows in everything they do. They just know kids inside and out. While I will not name individual names here, four specific teachers made an unimaginable impact on our children's lives and helped shape them into the confident, kind little guys they are today. We will forever be grateful to them. If you are a new parent reading this, feeling that nervous pit in your stomach about dropping your baby off for the first time, know that you can breathe easy here. We wanted a place where our boys would thrive, feel secure, and be set up for future success, and The Learning Garden gave us all of that and more. We cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

My 3 granddaughters have attended The Learning Garden, Torrance, CA from babies until TK. The staff has always been friendly and helpful and kind. Many of the baby and day care staff have worked there for many years, which shows how dedicated and experienced they are and that it is a place they enjoy working. The children are fed, learn to use the potty, wash their hands, learn a lot and play well with others. All state rules are followed and it is a very clean facility. My oldest granddaughter is 12, my middle granddaughter is 8 and my youngest is 4, so you can see how many years I have had the pleasure to get to know Ms. Zora and the staff. I have fond memories of all the things that my granddaughters have accomplished and learned at the Learning Garden and we will miss all the events they have for the children throughout the year. My youngest granddaughter will be leaving to attend school with her older sister, but we will go back and visit, as other families we have met have done also. read more

Long over due review. My son went here for about 2 years when he was little. My son is now 24 years old and in law school. I told you this review was long over due. Ms Zora was kind and understanding. There have been sometimes I was late to pick up my son because of work and Ms Zora was so gentle and always eased my anxiety when I was running late. My son still remembers the good memories here. We love the costume days/parades and theme days. This place is so clean and my son told me he especially loved nap time. Lol The beds were his size and comfy. He loved writing his numbers and his name. He loved arts and crafts and the playground. This place is a great place to send ur kid. read more

Took me a while to write this review, but felt that I should warn parents away from coming here. Ms. Zora is cold-hearted and rigid in a way that I can't see infants thriving in her care. They do things that go against their policy and see crying children as difficult rather than nurture them. We sent an email highlighting our concerns after pulling our son and never heard back. Our son has since been in two different care settings without crying during the transition. We also live close by to this daycare and often hear kids screaming and crying from the outside when we go on walks. read more

Poor communication, lack of adequately trained teachers, and horrible administration to name a few.

Well, today was the first day we took our boy here. The interior looked clean and the staff all had foot covers over the shoes, so that's a plus, they want to keep it clean. they all seemed nice and all the kids looked like they were well taken care of. The front door has a security key pad on it, so that's a good thing. The grounds are nice and they have all ages of kids there. The cost is fair with other day cares we looked at. all in all this place seems to be great for us. They keep records day to day of what your child has done in the day and you get a report card as the day ends, for feeding etc. they seem to have a good system going. ill update my review when we have dealt with them more. But so far happy with this place. UPDATE We've been taking our boy here for months now and we are very happy with this Learning Garden. All the people are very nice and seem to be good with the kids. If you can get in i would recommend this place! it gets an A in my book. read more

Teachers are nice - no problems there. Playgrounds are all sand, sand gets everywhere and rubs between kids toes causing micro tears/pain. The school directors are mom and daughter team that own the preschool. They are very particular with many things. If you have a difference in opinion or need to voice a complaint, good luck. Also, the mom seems checked out and not warm (not once did I see her smile). My daughter got in trouble for silly things such has touching dried paint on the playground floor and saying what the heck. I recommend checking out Future Stars Academy in Lomita instead. Sarah the director is amazing and so sweet! Kids are at a new school, thriving, learning Spanish, no sand, overall chill/easygoing vibe where they are accepted as-is and not so great behavior gently redirected or addressed. Also, teachers in constant communication with parents (this is lacking at The Learning Garden). read more

My neighbors, friends and families were encouraging us to leave this place 6 months ago, because they felt the place must not be well-cleaned due to how often our son came home sick (every other week).   Not to mention, Learning Garden has been cited multiple times for not having enough teachers during inspections and cited for having blankets in the crib with infants. Their newer teachers were constantly sending our son home dirty, including with a dirty bum and diaper rash. We weren't pleased, but we hung in there because it's very close to our house,  and there is one experienced teacher,  Miss Artie, who we liked. The final straw came when we returned from vacation. Prior to leaving, I discussed our options with the director, Ms. Nassim, to see if we needed to stay enrolled and just pay the fee, or if we could withdraw and re-enroll. I was open to pay if I had no choice. To my surprise, she noted that even with the waitlist, we could withdraw and re-enroll on October 3rd - a month later.  Before un-enrolling, I asked if she meant my son could "definitely go back October 3rd" and if so, then great.  She responded **in writing** and said great, and told me how much she was charging me for re-enrollment fees, and the rest of Oct tuition would be billed on Oct 3rd.  Absolutely no mention of any conditions or any doubt for re-enrolling. On his start date, I called to let them know he is running late, and I got a very blunt call back from Ms. Zora (the mom that co-runs with her daughter Ms Nassim) saying,  the daycare is full,  a new girl started last week. No apologies and no real explanation. Completely alarmed (also thinking there must be some mistake),  I asked for Ms. Nassim herself to call me back and still have not heard from her a week later. Totally ghosted.  We're left without daycare with no notice, even though they had 1 whole month (during our vacation) to tell us he couldn't go back on Oct 3.  How they're handling this and treating our son, who they looked after for 9 months, is callous. read more

I actually went there in when I was 6months-5yrs and I have to say it was amazing. I dont think some of the parents think about how there kid feels there. I loved this place so much especially Mrs rose and this is were some of my favorite memories happened. I'm even still friends with some of the people I went there with. Tho I haven't been there in years and I don't know if it's changed it was definitely Fun. read more

They are closed over the holidays and still make you pay for your kids not to attend school. If your kid is new to school and only goes half the days you still pay all days. read more

My kids loved and thrived at this school. My two sons started at 3 months old in the infant room and then transitioned to the toddler room. Countless times did my kid sing a song or show me a skill I definitely did not teach him--- from going through the letters, counting, learning the days of the week, etc. My youngest even came home signing words in sign language, like please and thank you! Oh how nice to have a baby with manners! My youngest was a tough baby and they cared for him without problem. They gave me some good mom advice when I needed problem solving. They accommodated for breast milk/nursing without issues. The grounds are clean, secure and really cute. Ms. Zora and Nassim really have things under control. I cannot thank them and the teachers enough for the care and nurturing they provided my kids. And my kids made good friends and had a lot of fun. I highly recommend this school. read more

My daughter is now 2 years old and has always been looking forward to going to this daycare school each day since she was 6 months old! She practically jumps into their arms when she arrives there. All the teachers and director love and nurture the children. The school has been there for a very long time. My daughter was very excited since day one when she was only a few months old there. She seems to continually flourish, learning new things from playing in doors and out doors with the children. There is constant supervision by very nice care givers. They send a small report home each day to show what activities they participated in which increases with age, how much they ate, when the diaper was changed, etc! I am an engineer for the city of LA, and I'm very careful about where to send my baby these days, and this place gives me full peace of mind as I go to work each day! They are easy to talk to and will work with your schedule reasonably. I have checked out other day cares within half hr radius, and I would highly recommend this school. Teachers' attitude/personality towards parents & children are very important. This school respects you and loves children like their own. Consistently professional, kind, patient, nurturing, sweet, caring, and responsible; never neglectful! I wanted to keep my baby at home before sending her to a daycare, but I believe that she should learn and socialize with children her age as soon as possible. I could not keep her home until she's 4 yrs old. She would get restless, bored, upset,... After just attending a month, she is happier, more confident, curious, speaking, and walking. :) I'm looking forward to more as she goes thru the program and mingling there. My daughter has been going to TLG since she was an infant(going to be 2yrs soon) :) excellent daycare/preschool. Every day she learns something new. From words to songs dancing etc. Given shes an only child her social skills have improved alot. Thank you to all the staff I know shes well taken care of. We have sent both of our kids here from age 3 months old to age 3. It is a wonderful and loving environment and Zora is a fantastic administrator. The people Zora hires are really the sweetest and most talented folks in the industry. She runs a tight ship and if you ever have any questions or concerns she will address them head on (even when it may be a tough or uncomfortable situation). Some of the teachers have been there for over 6 years (maybe more, but that was how long we had our children there). My kids always looked forward to going to The Learning Garden and this really was because of the teachers. They have fun events for the parents too and they always put on an adorable show around Christmas, mother's day and father's day. The play area is nice with shade provided by canopies and trees. It is clean and above all the staff is excellent. I would (and have) referred this daycare / pre-school to many of my friends. read more

We started my son 6 months ago when he turned 3 and just started my daughter a few months ago when she turned 2. Both kids love going to school here and love their teachers. They both come home and want to play school. They do academics and are learning colors, shapes, numbers, alphabet and more but also learn to play nice, share toys, pay attention and have good manners. There is a theme each week like "Ocean creatures" and "safari" with art projects and lessons structured to the theme. Parents are invited to attend events and parties such as a Fathers Day Picnic in the Park or Hawaiian Luau. I am so thankful to have found a very nurturing place for my kids. I really feel like their teachers genuinely care for them. The staff are all so kind and loving and make me feel good about leaving my children in their care. read more

The Learning Garden is an exceptional daycare center. Our daughter attended ages 4.5 months to 13 months and the only reason we left was because of a job related move. Ms Zora and Ms Nassim have been providing the community with affordable high quality childcare for many years. Everyone at the center who cared for our daughter, including the lead infant teacher, Ms Artie, and all the other teachers were excellent. The kids are always immaculately taken care of with frequent diaper changes, emotional support, attention to play and music. They also teach the kids some sign language and our daughter quickly learned words like hungry, more, all done, etc. We never witnessed the teacher to baby ratio exceed 1:4 - in fact, it's usually less. The center also emphasizes cleanliness and safety/sanitation procedures more than any other daycare we've seen. They frequently use wipes to disinfect their toys and our daughter caught on to that and started doing the same at home (so cute!) In addition to all the high quality standards, they were always very flexible with us, changing schedules as needed, applying diaper cream with every single diaper change, etc. The staff also go out of their way to do almost daily ridiculously cute personalized art projects with the kids and encourage everyone to participate in casual holiday events. Overall, the Learning Garden provides wonderful care at a great value. We will miss everyone very much! We highly recommend it read more

My granddaughter has been going to The Learning Garden since she was an infant (2013). She hugs the teachers when she arrives and when she leaves. The teachers are patient, kind, and caring. Her experiences at The Learning Garden have made her a happy, confident and socially well adjusted child. They have a very good routine for the children which includes singing, story time, learning, playing inside and outside, nap time, snack time, and singing songs for the parents for special holidays, field trips and more. They give report cards and you are made aware of anything little thing that may have happened to your child during the day. Miss Zora is a great administrator who is very aware of what is going on in all the classes, all day, every day. Highly recommended. read more
