Our family was very disappointed with our experience at CAP. My child attended for just 5 months…read moreand during that time we discovered many issues with the school. 1. My child had a medical emergency while at the school and it was unclear how it was actually handled. We received different accounts from the director, area manager, the staff member who accompanied my child to the hospital, and the EMT's who responded to the event. When I asked to see the footage from the time period of the medical emergency I was denied the request. 2. Classes are often combined in the morning or after 4pm, even during disease outbreaks in those respective rooms. Many times I would pick up my child and my child would be in the room where there is a known presence of Croup or Hand Foot Mouth playing with the children from that room. This, to me, demonstrated a lack of genuine care for the well being of the children. 4. My child's teacher recorded and posted a video on the app of another child pushing and kicking my child. My child was kicked 4 or more times and there was no intervention by the teacher. When I addressed this with the director I was simply told this was normal behavior for the age group and if the teacher had deemed to to be excessive she would have addressed it. 5.While regular handwashing is talked about quite a bit during the tour, it was not happening. Many times I picked up my child either right after playtime/before a snack or meal time or during a diaper change and the children were never made to wash their hands. I addressed this observation once with the director and noticed no improvements. 6. My child came home twice with scratches on her body that the staff could never explain. One scratch spanned across her back. 7. My child came home many times with diaper rash, despite us providing 40% zinc oxide diaper cream. On one occasion, I picked my child up and was told that all 3 of the kids left in the room had diaper rash. I don't think it is a coincidence that the last 3 kids left in the room that day all had diaper rash.

My daughter and I were updated throughout the morning through emails and phone calls reasuring us that she was doing fine. So much so, we are adding another day to her schedule. My daughters have been attending Apple Montessori School in Oakland for almost 3 years (oldest) and…read more2 years (youngest). We transferred my oldest from another school because the other school did not mesh well with her personality. The moment we moved her to AMS, almost instantly, my daughter fell in love with the environment and the warm staff so much that the struggle of getting her to go to school was no longer an issue. We find the activities and curriculum to be engaging, logical and incrementally challenging. The math bead system that they have introduced to my daughter is a gold standard for education. I know my daughters will be very well prepared for later years in school. I think, overall, the best aspect of AMS is the fact that Ms. Ferentinos knows exactly where both my daughters stand in their learning journey. She has a great plan in mind for both my daughters and I'm confident she will continue to challenge them. The assistants are equally as amazing. Its the little things they do that makes the experience even better. Ms. Buckley braiding my daughters hair makes my daughters feel so special. And its an absolute comfort to drop them off every morning because of Mrs. Dermos' and Ms. Rolos' warm bubbly personalities. During these difficult pandemic times, we've seen the school really step up their game and implement world class safety precautions. This really makes us feel comfortable with sending our girls to school. Even before the pandemic, they had all ready upgraded the schools with the large UV sanitation cabinet equipment. We're very pleased with the level of education provided by AMS and we're so lucky to have found this school!

There were some good teachers too that had a positive impact. Overall a very mixed experience, if all children are treated the same it would be a great school for kids.

Maria (who runs the center) just flat out cares. She is incredibly thorough in how she and her team look over the kids. She doesn't look at this as "babysitting", she looks at this as a proper school. She highly emphasizes education and constant broadening of the childrens' horizons, and she knows all of the kids in the school very well. Even more, as our son was starting their program she actively encouraged us to stop by with him after hours multiple times, to acclimate him to the environment before starting up. She did everything she could to make sure our child had the smoothest startup possible, and as a result he adjusted really quickly all things considered. I cannot recommend this school enough, it has been an entirely positive experience and I feel my child is being cared for so much more than at some of the local franchised daycares we visited. (Also regarding cost, interestingly they're on the better value side of tuition rates for the area)

I cannot say anything more than how happy and grateful we are to have found Ms. Maria (director of…read morethis school) and the school. My 2-yr old son was in another daycare for a few months and he was bitten by the first month. And then he started biting other kids the following months while that other biting kid was separated to another room. We tried our best to stop him, engaged a speech/behavioral therapist counseling to see what was wrong with him. The therapist said there was nothing wrong with him and was surprised to hear him biting other kids at daycare. The daycare basically gave us a two week warning, that if this happens again, we would need to find a babysitter. We were terrified! By then we were starting doing research around new schools. We visited this school, where Ms. Maria said "please never schedule to go visit the school. Come visit us at any time!!" We did visit unannounced, and Ms. Maria toured us around while hearing our story about biting. She was disheartened to hear about the biting and told us to "never let others label your child." I basically bursted out crying at this and Ms. Maria assured that that will not happen at her school, because she had other kids from his then current daycare have exactly the same issue and came to her school and the kid never bit others any more. There were other kids from other daycare also came because they were unhappy, and she said they were all doing great. I could kind of believe it because the school was so big and open inside, and they basically rotated the rooms throughout the day so the kids get different themed rooms throughout the day. The kids were limited in numbers, the teachers were happy and engaged at all times, and there were intellectual stimulations all around. Like one room was filled with puzzles and trucks, the next room was about music, and then the kitchen, etc. we were so impressed and felt supported. We took her offer to try out a week. As soon as he started going to this school, he never bit any kid or even attempted to do so. They told us he is having a great time and that he is smiling all day. It's been a few weeks now and he is still enjoying the school and he is much, much happier now than ever. I initially didn't look at this place because it was farther than other schools close to our house. But I have heard great stories on a private facebook group of our neighborhood and wanted to just check out how it is. And now I am blown away by the amount of personal, family like environment that the school carries. I am so so glad I got to know Ms. Maria and the crew. I did get to meet one of the other moms who had the same situation and they had exactly the same positive experience at this school for many months now. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nurturing, warm place for your kids to enjoy spending their time at the daycare. It is a hidden gem. They just recently opened a new building and my son is in it. I believe they have more openings because of thay

After our daycare shut down, I scoured and interviewed local daycares. A few things I really loved…read moreabout 123 was the staff. They genuinely know and love the kids. I also loved how they have bilingual teaching opportunities. Kids absorb languages best when they're young and with a increasingly global society, it's great to offer kids that exposure. I also liked that it wasn't overly crowded. I actually drive to two schools for my kids so that my son is in an environment that's not packed with children during the pandemic. They also have an indoor play space and have some time where the younger toddlers and older toddlers do things together. I loved that philosophy from Acton Academy as I know my son loves modeling my older daughter. It's also fairly priced. Great place, especially for babies and younger kids. Plus- they helped potty train my son!! They aren't fancy and over the top - simply teach and treat my child like their own. I feel like my son is less materialistic than my daughter as a result.

Their Pre-K program is top notch with so much creativity in teaching. Their newly formed Kindergarten class is very small (less than 10 kids) and is filled with hands-on experiements and exploration.
