Our family loves The Learning Academy! We have had our daughter at this school since she was 18 months. We started with daycare services a couple days a week with the bonus of socialization for our little one. We continued attendance at the school for Early Admissions Kindergarten, Kindergarten and currently now have continued for elementary grades. Our daughter has flourished in the school's Montessori setting. All teachers have been warm and cheerful. They work extremely hard to create exciting and academic appropriate lessons for all levels of learning. Communication is excellent and I can easily access teachers for questions. The Montessori learning approach meets learners where they are and builds upon their strengths. Students are able to move at a learning pace that is flexible and not lock step. . . meaning students can advance into new learning content standards when ready. Students are not held back and can excel. The director Ms. George is one of the best teachers I have ever met. Her heart is big and she is dedicated to the success of the school and the learning of all students!! I cannot recommend this school enough! read more

My son went through terrible abuse at this school. The director, Sandra George, was supposed to post the teacher was under investigation for months, and failed to post anything. Nor did she tell us. Parents found out when the state removed the teacher from the classroom, in person. Sandra, "Sandy," hid this on purpose, then had a yard sale to cover the fines. Not disclosing what the sale was actually for. This school is cheap in cost and integrity. I would not advise any child to go here. The abuser of my child was seen on that campus less than a week ago. She's not supposed to be there. read more

Let me start off by saying there was one lady there that was very kind to me and my son. That is why I'm giving two stars. This was the first preschool/daycare I've ever brought my son to, he was 3 years old. I was just as nervous as he was! I had high hopes.. but after two days with them, they decided not to take him because he didn't adjust immediately.. They were well aware it was the first time for him. What baffled me the most was their negative attitude towards me. I always walked in with a smile and his teacher had the audacity to roll her eyes at me as I walked in asking how he did. And another one of the reasons they brought up was that he wouldn't stop messing with their MICROWAVE... WHY is their a MICROWAVE within a 3 year olds reach??? As for the facility itself.. it's very old. The playground definitely needed cleaning and new equipment. I personally would not recommend this school/daycare. I was genuinely disappointed with everything about my experience other than the one assistant teacher. She was very kind to me and my son. read more

I want to leave my honest review based on my tour here. We are in the market for a school for my daughter. Let's start with the good. The owner was very warm and friendly. And it is in a nice safe location. Now for the bad. The school was filthy when we toured. The "blue" carpet is disgusting and is mostly black at this time. Also, in both classrooms the center of the rooms are big TVs with a bunch of movies. Big Red flag for me, it definitely made me look at this as more of a daycare than school. The ceiling tiles are yellow and they have popcorn ceilings throughout. The parking lot also has tons of potholes. Finally, I saw kids on the playground screaming in each others faces without any staff even doing anything. This place is in need of some serious TLC! And it seemed more like a daycare than a preschool to me. This is not a place I would enroll my child. read more

I cannot stress enough how much we love this school. It may not be the most modern, but you will not find a better place for your children to learn, grow and be cared for. My three daughters started preschool here, learned like crazy, after multiple other schools failed, and are now entering 4th and 5th grades, testing above grade level, AT THIS SCHOOL! My kids are so happy, confident, and Ms. George and all the teachers give so much to these kids. I also find that the teachers communicated and worked with our family during some tough times, when behavior was an issue for my girls. I had to hear every day about something, but I also heard every day how we would work through things together and we did. So grateful I looked past the "old" and instead focused on the quality of what takes place in this school. Cannot thank the staff enough! read more

I went to visit this school during business hours. Another parent walked in shortly before me but I didn't make the door before it closed. I rang the door bell multiple times and knocked loudly for many minutes and no one answered the door. If they cant hear a doorbell it makes me wonder how much attention they pay to children. read more

We are a newer family with this center, but I've witnessed the teachers showing the kids the best balance of love and compassion while also guiding them through safe play. They let the kids be kids, while also directing them to learn about good behaviors that are important for kids to learn before moving on to grade school/adulthood. The outdoor play area is great, where kids of all ages can interact safely- big kids in one yard that is visible for the little ones in their play yard. The teachers help this kids to learn about seasons and holidays, and I get photos and updates of the adventures/games my child engages in. High praise to the staff! read more

They do stuff their way and their way only. Was told that they wouldn't take my daughter as part time ( I only worked part time and only needed her in school when I was working ) and complained everyday about something she was doing " wrong " another parent said they would put their 3 year in time out for NOT NAPPING ! Wouldn't give her a toy or anything because she was rewarding bad behavior. Theres lot of stuff going on at this school plus it's so out dated it's not even funny ! I am so happy I moved my daughter to Learning Academy. She was at another preschool in Lakeside and I was not happy with the staff or the "learning" or should I say lack there of as well as a raise in fees. My daughter is almost 5 and cannot write her name or numbers...what the hell was I paying for??? Learning Academy is less more school less "daycare". My daughter has her own desk with her name on it. She couldn't be more excited to see that. I feel now she will be more prepared for kindergarten. YAY!!! So Happy :) read more

If your child is 4 years old and no longer takes naps they cannot accommodate you. They require appointments to speak to the director. Make sure you tour when children are being picked up, they have trouble finding children's belongings. read more

My kids attended Learning Academy 20 years ago and we still visit Ms George when we are in town. She was such a blessing to us, my son was severely ADHD and really struggled in the traditional classroom setting. She treated both kids like they were her own and to this day they still talk about her. She taught them at their own pace and they were both more than prepared for re-entry into public school. SHe creates a loving respectful environment. I can't say enough about her, she truly saved me. She included activities and exercise and a well rounded education. read more

My daughter was adopted at the age of 5 and struggled in public school. She would have flash backs of her younger years and suffered from "Flight or Fright". Public school class rooms were too large for her, and her teachers struggled to be able to help her with class sizes of 30+ children. We knew she needed a change and with a smaller group of people, to be able to excel. Thankfully, We found the Learning Academy with Ms. George! Our daughter is now excelling in school as well as in her social life. Ms. George allowed her to work through her fears, while caring for my daughter in a way that public school would have disciplined her. My daughter was below grade level in almost all areas of elementary. With Ms. George's love, guidance and teaching, my daughter is now in the 3rd grade and reading at a 6th grade level as well as a 6th grade math level!! My daughter is no longer fearful of the teacher, or classmates, and loves to go to school! I will forever be grateful to Ms. George for believing in and to help us to guide our daughter into becoming the confident, loving, trusting, child she now is. read more
