SAME EXPERIENCE AS CATHERINE!…read more Attention to Homeowners: DO NOT use this company to rent your property! And AVOID AirBNB as that who Great Mountain uses now to hide behind! Attention to unknowing renters: TAKE PICTURES of EVERYTHING that is awry! You will NEED THEM to prove what these people did (or didn't) do! !!! We arrived to find the house was incredibly hot. We turned off the heater, which we had assumed was the cause of the high heat. The thermostat on the heater, however was set to 72 and the house was in the 80's. The REAL reason for this hot house we discovered the next day. Evening #1: House was hot. We assumed the heater was on too high, although it was set to 72 degrees, it was much higher than that in the house. We turned the heater to "OFF". Later we noticed the fireplace wasn't working. Texted GMR, several times. Sent her pictures, which she said (hours later) that she "couldn't receive" text pictures on her phone. Weird! She should have this capability being that she is in this type of business! She told me to push two specific buttons on the remote, which we tried multiple times; the fireplace did not come on. She then sent me a link to a VIDEO "to learn about the fireplace". The instructions on the video did not make the fireplace work. She said she would come out the next day. Morning #1: Received a text from Tara saying she hoped we "had a great night" and to let her "know if we needed anything". DUH!!! HELLO? Didn't we CLEARLY communicate with you last night, TAra? She completely ignored the fireplace issues. I had to REMIND her, and she said she would come out to fix it that day. We arrived back in the house that late afternoon. House was now EIGHTY FIVE degrees and the fireplace was ON. We ran and quickly opened as many windows as we could. Several were found to be unlocked already - scary. One window didn't open at all, also scary. We texted Tara immediately. She said that she was there that day to fix the fireplace and, further, that she did not leave the fireplace on. Ok, so this scary fireplace turns itself on at will? Beyond scary and completely unacceptable. Tara then "casually" texted mentioning oh, BTW, that "the spa isn't working." Previously she told us " 'they' (she and some other unknown person) were "JUST THERE and had scrubbed it for our arrival". However, NOW she texts that "the spa company had been out the previous week, but they obviously hadn't fixed it. She further informed us that "the water is orange and that it was her fault for NOT checking before we arrived". Bizarre - she had PREVIOUSLY stated that she had scrubbed it prior to our arrival, and now it was her fault for not personally checking it?" Liars have to have good memories, INDEED. Later the fireplace turned itself back on. This was NOT safe or "okay" with us. Now we understood why the heat was so high the night before - it wasn't the house heater! The fireplace was turning itself on by itself! We quickly packed up and vacated. We tried calling Tara, she did not answer. We informed Tara that this was a fire hazard and we were not comfortable staying in a place where the fireplace randomly was turning itself on. Other issues: Dead and living bugs all over the inside of the house. Solar porch lights didn't work. Owner/Tara should have replaced those. No lighting on that porch - except for two bug-filled and very dim fixtures. Light bulbs inside and outside that were burned out. Outside light fixtures filled with dead bugs. GROSS. Bottom floor exit door was dead bolted with a KEYED lock. There was no key provided for exit! There was NO DOOR to exit the bottom floor in case of fire. Tara texted us A WEEK LATER that was "not a concern", as people could "climb out the window" to escape a fire! Long story short, she did not disclose things that were not working, she did not disclose things that were broken, or the fact that a floor has no legal fire exit! We do NOT recommend this property management company.

When we pre walked the home multiple things were pointed out that she was going to have fixed or replaced and it never happened even the safety rail for the stairs to the basement. Some floors were replaced with vinyl before we moved in . The rest was old dingy carpet that they charged us 250 to clean when we moved out. Should have been replaced due to age. During the beginning of Covaid when pay checks were sporadic we were running late paying and they even charged late fees. A couple months before our lease was up I asked a question about the date of our lease. The office lady told me the information and said either one could elect to not renew the lease at that time. In this area finding a rental is almost impossible and they are well aware of that. I have 2 children and my husband. They waited till the last minute allowed to let us know the lease wasn't being renewed. Middle of December about 6 weeks after we moved still no one was living there. I also had to ask multiple times about the deposit and guess what they found things to charge me for. Its been 60 days and I am only now getting a copy of the reciepts. David Ritz and Rebecca Ritz and Mountain Country Cabin Rental should not be trusted or get your business. I have never not gotten the majority or all of my deposit back. I also have never had a landlord who didn't take care of things in a timely manner. Very disappointing encounter with them.
