Wythenshawe in South Manchester isn't really known as a gastronomic destination. The majority of…read morerestaurants listed for the area are take-aways and cafes, all of which I'm sure are great in their own regards, but they're all pretty similar. This is why I like The Met Stop Diner. Someone decided to take a vacant space in Wythenshawe's town centre Civic Centre shopping precinct and build an American themed diner. Something different! A new angle! When you walk in, it's nice to see that they haven't half-baked it, they've gone for the full classic American diner interior, with red, white and chrome seating, condiment baskets, and a big mural of the New York skyline on one wall. The menu does try to cater for multiple tastes, with some classic English cafe classics such as the Full English Breakfast, but they have a good selection of American breakfasts too, as well as hot dogs, burgers, deli style sandwiches, and a few house specialities. My favourite part of England meets America was that on the tables there was one of those little silver ice cream dishes, which we came to realise were specifically for putting your tea bag in after taking it out of your tea! WHY DON'T MORE PLACES DO THIS?! This is such a simple idea, but I've only seen The Met Stop Diner do it so far, and they're American themed! There were three of us on this day, and we were all ready for breakfast, and so chose the American pancake stack, the Full English Breakfast, and the American Breakfast, as well as three mugs of tea. The tea came out first which was good as we all needed a brew, but as the breakfasts were cooked fresh to order, we'd drunk our tea by the time our food came out. A pot of tea might be a better idea, but it's not very American! The Full English was a standard cafe breakfast to be honest, but still decent homely stuff. The American breakfast was so substantial that it couldn't be finished, but it was agreed that the pancakes were great, as they were also on the stack of pancakes. Very enjoyable indeed. We'll definitely pop in again when we're next in the area, as the rest of the menu looks great too! The only thing I would suggest is reprinting the menus (as they were looking a bit dog-eared), and checking the spellings (Chicago, not "Chicargo"!), but if that's really the only thing I can find to suggest as an improvement, you're definitely doing something right, Met Stop! See you again soon!

As tasty as it was unhealthy though I'd imagine from the thick rich taste, but nonetheless, amazing. The decor is great and I enjoyed sitting in for a few a people watching inside the restaurant and through the window. I really like the concept here, but reading other reviews indicates that maybe they don't use it to the full potential. I absolutely love American Diners as they take me back to my glory days in the states, so I do hope that when I come back to try the food they've made a few improvement as I would love this to become my new spot when I need my Yank-fix. Come on Infamous Diner, step up to the plate.

I popped back last week to try them out at lunch time and to see if it was as much fun as the launch night. I ordered a red pepper houmous, avocado and montaray jack cheese toasted sandwich, or 'grilled cheese' sandwich as the americans would call it. It wasn't as cheesy as I had expected, maybe my mind has been warped by that of Northern Soul Grilled Cheese, just around the corner. My friends ordered a hot dog and a burger, both of which were good. I like this place, and will be back to try their American breakfasts, but compared to so many other eateries in Manchester and in the NQ it just wasn't as great as the hype. But, still worth going!

There's an instant feeling of "Am I on a film set?" when you're in here, a VERY American film set. The music, the bright red decor, the minimalist cost cutting interior design to maximise space/profit screamed birth of capitalism. The super smiley staff with an overzealous urge to please. Numerous diner scenes from various films flashed before my eyes as I sat pretend perusing the menu. A very northern accented man interrupted my day dreaming, a shock given the American nature of that dream. I ordered a rootbeer, my first ever one. (Certainly won't be my last... It was incredible) The food was very simple. The burger was normal sized as were the fries. There was no pretense, this was just a diner serving basic American food. Having not tried ALL the eateries in Cheshire Oaks it'd be wrong for me to call this the best place to eat there. But i bet it'd be pretty close. The locale is never gonna be one for 'fine dining'. Which is fine by me, I'm not exactly a huge fan of culinary pretension. But after a few laps of the shops and with hunger drums beating you'd be a fool if you ignore the delights of Ed's diner. So go check it out.

If you still…read moredecide to go after reading this I warn you to wear layers as even on a hot day it's freezing in there if you sit anywhere near the air conditioning. We had a look at the menu and the waitress came over to take our order. 2 diet cokes with no ice, bbq chicken wings to start, crispy chicken burger with twister fries and 4 onion rings on the side for me and a classic burger 10oz with cheese no tomato, fries and onion rings. We waited a while for our drinks when they came there was ice but the waitress just dumped them and ran off before we could say anything. We just drank them. Our chicken wings came, they were very hot but tasty & crispy. Soft drinks, tea & coffee are refillable. When our meals came my chicken was hot and crispy and fries were tasty. My partner was trying to work out how to eat his burger and he went to cut it in half to make it easier to eat. I spotted something red on his burger bun. I poked my fork in and fished out a very thin slice of tomato. He can't eat tomato due to a medical condition and itches like crazy for days after eating it. He was not happy but the waitresses were the other end of the diner. He asked the grill behind the grill to change it. I think she was just going to change the bun but he asked for s fresh one. She said it wasn't on the ticket but we had asked. I carried on. This was unacceptable to forget two things. We didn't see our original waitress again and another waitress then came over to give the new meal. When he finally tucked in he said it wasn't very nice. So he only had the chicken wings, a couple of bites of a burger and few fries. The second waitress came over to ask how his burger was and he said not nice. She apologised and said she would take it off the bill but before I could say I had an OK Rocks Club card (15% off food) she'd gone. So when she came with the bill she had to redo it to take 15% off. Left very disappointed. Used to love a cheeky burger and a pancake stack and maybe a dollar shake but will think twice before coming here!!

Booked in for 8pm on a Saturday night, we headed down the incense scented steps and descended into the darkness of the restaurant. The front of house desk is a slot machine, and we were pointed in the direction of the bar to wait until our table was ready. The drinks menu includes cocktails, hard shakes and floats, beer, wine, and cider. Not wanting to start down the road of a white wine hangover the next day, I opted for a cider. Not having any names I recognised, I went for a Jeramiah Weed - tasting not unlike JD & coke, it was unusually delicious! Our table took about 15/20 minutes to be ready, for which the front of house were eternally apologetic and resulted in a free round of drinks, but this just meant we had some time to take in our surroundings. We're talking neon, bricks, bars, wire, photos of criminals, doors marked with incoherent numbers, and boxes marked in the same way to represent convict's belongings. The menu contains everything you could wish for; wings, ribs, fried lasagne bites (yes please), burgers, fries, and steak. Unfortunately for us, they didn't have the lasagne bites, mac & cheese, or bacon wrapped maple onion rings - but we sure made up for it... Our table contained a whole butter basted poussin, bbq brisket, chorizo fried waffles, wings with both tequila lime & frank's buffalo hot sauces, padron peppers, two portions of fries, and two portions of slaw. Served up in the same aluminium trays as Yardbird, it's a down and dirty style of eating (though knives and forks are obviously provided!) Top items had to be the poussin, with a perfectly crispy skin, and the chorizo fried waffles, with little pieces of chorizo and a spicy chipotle sauce. Padron peppers, which are currently a personal obsession, provided a vegetable on the table, and the slaw was vinegar based rather than mayonnaise, meaning extra greenery that I could get involved with. Wings had a nice spice, though I've come to the conclusion I prefer the sauce based kind, rather than the breaded ones served up. Although the brisket had the perfect texture, there was a bit too much bbq sauce for my personal taste. Desserts included fried oreos, ice cream 'sliders' with brioche, and pecan pie - that's if you have enough room... A great meal with friendly service; hopefully next time we can have room for something sweet!

Was being served by 3 staff who, at different times, within 2 minutes, each asked if we were enjoying our food. They tried to take our order twice so no communication within the team. What started as being quite funny quickly turned annoying as we weren't left alone to eat or talk. Prices could have been lower. When it came to paying we struggled to pay on card because of the signal underground, which ate up another 15 minutes of our night. Would not recommend and would not go again.
