I have used Allegheny laundry pick up and delivery laundry service for the last 4 months…read more At first it was great service. However in the past couple of weeks items started coming back stained, wet and wrinkled. Clearly something had changed. Today was my pick up day, I got home and I saw my dirty laundry still on the porch. I did not get an email or call explaining why they did not pick up my laundry. I called them and an outgoing message said "We are cancelling all laundry services and do not know when we might resume service" Needless to say, I have found a new service.

Allegheny Laundry was the answer and they took care of my initial order perfectly. Unfortunately, the good service didn't last. Last fall, I sent clothes to be dry cleaned and shirts to be laundered. The slacks came back folded in a pile with the creases laid flat. Some ties I sent came back with the linings twisted. I decided I wasn't going to use them again. This week I got caught up in work and decided to give them another try. Big mistake! I sent a pile of shirts, two suits, and several pairs of slacks. I gave detailed instructions in my order: the shirts were to be laundered and pressed, the slacks dry cleaned and placed on hangers properly, etc. Yesterday evening, the driver shows up with shirts on hangers. I had to ask where the rest of the order was. He comes back with my laundry bag with clothes in it (everything was supposed to be on hangers). I open the bag and find my suit pants and the other slacks I sent once again folded improperly. I realized they had been laundered and not dry cleaned. My shirts had all been dry cleaned and were on hangers. The jackets to my suits and a laundry basket I had sent were nowhere to be found. Furious, I called and got Jim who said he would investigate. They found my jackets and I was told they would be delivered in the morning. As to my complaints about unwillingness to follow directions, I received an apology and a refund, but otherwise just that competition for workers left Jim, the owner, in a bind. Understandable, but if McDonald's is paying more than dry cleaners, pay your people more and raise my rates if necessary but do NOT provide bad service! As of this writing, I still have not received my jackets. I called Jim again and the small amount of snow that fell overnight apparently has delayed their drivers. My errands are completely unimportant, apparently. Sorry Jim, never again.

The best part is that it is open 24 hours, not that I really want to be there alone late at night. It is located across from the Giant Eagle and after a certain hour it would be the only open business and is isolated away from traffic. One night I was there late and was accosted in the parking lot by, albeit a friendly gentleman, he wanted to know if I wanted any movies. Ummm.... not really and that made me realize WTH was I doing alone when all other businesses nearby were closed? Yikes. Anyway, as long as there are other people around other businesses it feels safe enough. Prices are probably in line with most other laundromats. I think it was 2.25 for a wash load in the normal size washers and a quarter for about 7 minutes of dry time. They have a change machine that takes multiple bill dominations and I have used it successfully each time I've tried. They also have a machine for hangers (it was out the one time I tried to use that) and detergent. They have soda machines and 2 tvs and seating. I believe they have a restroom but I have not used it. They have several tables to fold laundry and rolling baskcarts with a bar for hanging clothes That all seemed to be plenty available. What I like best is that it is open 24 hours in case I need it to be and plenty of machine availability whenever I've gone there. I usually sit in my car with my phone apps in front of the place while waiting on my laundry. It has huge windows so you can keep an eye on anything. What I like least is the lack of cleanliness. Don't think I've ever been there when employees have been there cleaning up so don't know how often that occurs. All in all, it'll do.

I've been here at different times on different days of the week and although there are not very many washers/dryers located in the building, there is never a crowd. I frequented the laundromat in Edgewood Town Center for a while but that got old because it was always crowded. Prices for the washers are the same as the one located in the center. $2 to wash, $.25 for six minutes in the dryer. Go in during a time that no one is there, and you can be out of there within a hour if you start all your laundry at the same time. In short, this laundromat should be nicer than it is currently. Lately, it's gone from kind of…read moredirty to really dirty. But, I'll be coming back. On paper, this is a great laundromat. Lots of washers and dryers of varying sizes, an ATM, two coin machines, and a couple of vending machines too. The issue with this place comes from the changes made by the new ownership. They did some upgrades; including new paint, installing a lot of security cams, and firing only employee I've seen working there regularly. I think this is a reflection of the new owners philosophy. The problem is, there is no one during business hours to pickup the used drier sheets, lint, and forgotten clothing that normally accumulates during the day. Customers aren't going to cleanup after themselves and this mess looks bad. The washing machines are need some attention too. Customers are using both wet and dry detergents, so a few of the machines had clogged detergent and softener receptacles. By clogged, I mean there's standing water in the receptacle and I can't add liquid fabric softener. On the other hand, dryers seem fine. It's not all bad, they still have a dropoff laundry service. Now, you have to call ahead to make arrangements. In the past you also had the option of dropping it off with the employee on site. Also, as of January 14th, the ATM, vending and coin machines still work. It seems like the owners are trying to make the place more profitable without increasing prices on the machines. Allowing this place to get dirty has already scared off my girlfriend and I imagine other customers are searching for better options too...
