If you would like to waste 2 hours on a haircut that should have been completed in 45 minutes, all while listening to far too personal baby daddy stories shared by your nice, but unskilled, stylist, then this is the salon for you! What was that? Should I have said something? Well, I did. That's when the less than 100% fabulous customer service kicked in. I sent photos and messages documenting the haircut. I asked for a refund. After all, that was $90 for the haircut that looks like the craft scissor haircut my friend's daughter gave herself when she was 5. They want to "fix" it. There's barely any hair left to "fix" and also, no. You have lost my trust. Just refund the money. Here's my story: I chose one of my reference images (the one with green highlights) directly from their website based on cut and type of color, highlights with a fashion color. What could possibly go wrong? There is a person there who literally can cut the cut I want the picture proved it, right? The scheduler said she knew exactly who to book me with, but let's do a color consultation first for $60. I countered with, let's schedule the cut and the stylist, and I can discuss color then. At my appointment, I showed the stylist a carefully curated set of images, cut images, and the cut I wanted in pics of me when I had that cut. This is important because, I should back up and say I was asking for a pixie cut. I explained that I wanted my already short hair to be styled into a long banged, messy pixie with wispy tendrils by my ears. This would require trimming bangs, texturizing the longer "bob" sides and back. An hour in, I knew far too much about her personal life, and half my hair was clippered and way too short. Then she said, " Hey, maybe we should leave the other side as it is (when I came in)". Um, what? I asked to see the back. It had been clippered and the long hair on top laid on it like a rug. Zero texture. Um... the back of my head looks like a triangle? Can you please fix it? She did, kinda. Now, it's at mile marker two hours, and I am late. She was still not done. I told her I had to go and that I would have to settle for what I have. I left, put my hat on, and cried. But that was after I was also charged a service fee to tip. Next comes the customer service: After work, I took my hat off to discover that you could see my scalp in places. I have virtually no bangs, and it is waaaaay worse than I thought. I immediately emailed with pics. Their response, thanks for the feedback. I called and asked someone from their leadership to call me back. Nope, no call. Fast forward to the next day and several emails later, and the owner said you can either come in (next week) or "this matter is closed". Charming. I've had pixie cuts for 20 years. This was not a texture things or even a miscommunication. It was a failure of the scheduler, the stylist, and ultimately the owner. That stylist needs to be trained better and should have never been given me as a client. And the owner, well, just rude. When did customer service become so rare? Dear everyone who has never gotten a lash lift - please go elsewhere!…read more I never write negative reviews unless I truly believe there is a risk a business poses to its patrons. But, after my experience here, I feel obligated warn others. I went into MJ Brow and Skin for my first ever lash lift a few days before my wedding. Huge mistake on my part to do it so close, but that was the only time everything aligned with all the other things I was doing for the wedding. I wish I had looked up the procedure beforehand, but it wasn't on the top of my mind before my wedding. When I arrived for my appointment, I let MJ know this was my first lash lift and all she basically said was "great!" And then motioned for me to lay down on the table. I assumed maybe she would tell me what was normal and what wasn't while in the process of doing my lashes, but she was quiet the entire time. Immediately, I noted how incredibly rough she was with my eyes. I've had LASIK, so I'm more sensitive, but I would have been concerned even if I hadn't. Quickly into her starting, I began to feel burning. I shrugged internally and thought it was normal given she didn't warn me ahead of time that I should tell her if anything burned. After the entire process was complete she allowed me to open my eyes to look at my lashes. Immediately I noticed that the entire world was blurry no matter how much I blinked. I could only see things clearly that were right by my face. Once again, I reasoned that since my eyes had been closed for 45+ minutes, I had just been poked and prodded, and I had foreign chemicals on my eyes this likely was normal and would go away soon. She told me to call if I had any side effects or questions. I thanked her and then began to make my way home. Thank goodness I live close enough to walk, because there would have been no way I could have possibly driven! After no change by the time I got home I looked up (with my phone almost touching my nose because I couldn't see it otherwise) if burning and blurriness were normal symptoms after a lash lift. Turns out, neither are and Dr. Google recommends going to urgent care/the ER if these symptoms last. I decided that I would call MJ just to chat with her since she was a professional and probably would have some advice. She didn't pick up, and so I left a message explaining what was going on and asked her to call me back. After a couple of hours, my symptoms not improving at all, and no word from MJ, I called my sister in law who is a PA. She recommended that I go to the ER when my partner got home with the car and call the lash place again to get the name of the chemicals used in the treatment just in case the ER staff needed it. I called MJ Brow & Skin again, and once again no answer. I left another message asking her to call me back ASAP since I was going to the ER and I needed the name of the chemicals. Now, almost two months later I have still not heard from her! Multiple hours later when my now husband got home, I was in tears. My vision was still blurry, but I didn't want to pay for the ER bill after I had just paid a stupid amount for this woman to burn my eyeballs and then promptly ghost me right before my wedding!! Because my eyes weren't a glaring red and the burning had subsided - they were just dry and blurry - I decided to sleep on it and see if they got better. The next day they seemed to be improving slightly. Over the next couple of weeks they did improve, but my vision has never gotten back to normal. On top of all of this, she also either over-permed one side of my lashes or used an incorrect rod size (see photos). Boy was it hard to put mascara on during my wedding day!!! I also talked with a coworker about my experience and she gasped when she realized she had a really similar experience at the same place. However, MJ actually picked up when she called. Instead of offering advice or a refund, though, MJ blamed my coworker for not telling her that her eyes weren't burning and said it was her fault. Please go elsewhere if you can!
