Specialties
At The Larkin Tea Company, we specialize in bringing tea lovers the finest loose-leaf teas from around the world. With more than 80 varieties—including classic black, green, oolong, and white teas, as well as caffeine-free, decaffeinated, and wellness blends—we’re passionate about helping customers discover their perfect cup. What sets us apart is our personal touch: every tea is carefully selected by Judy, a certified tea specialist, and packaged by hand to ensure freshness. Beyond tea, we also feature teapots, infusers, and one-of-a-kind locally made gifts like hand-sewn cozies, honey, and soaps. Our blog offers recipes and tea tips, and we love meeting fellow tea enthusiasts at trade shows across the East Coast. Whether you’re new to tea or a seasoned connoisseur, our mission is to make the world of tea approachable, educational, and full of joy.
History
Established in 1999.
The Larkin Tea Company began in 1999 after Judy Larkin’s curiosity about tea grew into a lifelong passion. In 1995, Judy was asked to give a presentation on tea—though she knew little at the time, she dove into research and soon earned her tea specialist certification, studying tea’s history, cultivation, and traditions in places like India and China. She and her husband Bill moved to West Virginia with hopes of opening a tea shop, but after building delays, they began selling loose-leaf tea from their home and at trade shows, where demand quickly grew. What started as small batches has expanded into a specialty tea company offering more than 80 varieties of carefully selected teas, along with accessories and locally made gifts. From day one, our mission has been simple: to bring the finest, freshest teas to our community and beyond, while sharing knowledge, recipes, and a love for the tradition of tea.
Meet the Business Owner: Bill and Judy L.
We’re Judy and Bill Larkin, owners of The Larkin Tea Company in Martinsburg, WV. Our tea journey began back in 1995 when Judy was asked to give a talk about tea. What started as curiosity quickly grew into a passion—leading her to earn a tea specialist certification, study tea traditions in places like India and China, and eventually build a business dedicated to sharing quality loose-leaf tea. After moving to West Virginia, we began selling from our home and at trade shows before opening our shop. Today, we offer over 80 varieties of tea, along with teapots, infusers, and locally sourced gifts. Every blend we sell is chosen with care and packaged by hand. We love sharing recipes and tea tips on our blog, connecting with customers on Facebook, and meeting tea lovers at events across the East Coast. For us, tea isn’t just a drink—it’s a way to connect, slow down, and share something meaningful.
