The Local Social House - The ambience is perfect

Instead of lobster, the dish was made with imitation crab. The waitress denied it. As an avid lobster enjoyer, this was straight up imitation crab. I am not sure why they are trying to cover it up by denying the use to paying customers. If it says lobster and is an $11 soup, I expect chunks of real lobster. The soup contained stringy unchewable pieces of stewed imitation crab. Would not recommend this place, untruthful about their ingredients.

From the moment we walked in the staff was attentive and kind.We dined late so we were impressed that we never felt rushed. We started with cocktails : Mule and a glass of Malbec- both were great! Apps - We had the chicken bites. Nothing like we expected but so much better. The chicken was crispy with a bit of sweet. The sauces we could have drank they were so flavorful and complimented the chicken perfectly. Main course - My husband got the burger & fries. Was fantastic! I got the local club and that was a very fresh clean tasting sandwich . But can we talk about the fries!! We love crunchy fries and these are the best we've had! Portions are generous! Overall we can't say enough good and wished we lived closer as it would be a regular stop for us!

Located on the main strip (Princess Street) in…read moreKingston I remember the menu being more focused on sandwiches, burgers, salads etc On this visit the menu was mainly pizza and pasta's so maybe the focus has changed? They have a decent cocktail menu. What was ordered: Pasta Bolognese - sauce was okay by the pasta they chose was broken pieces of a flat pasta Rigatoni Barolo - beef was really tender but there wasn't enough rapini Drunken Canadian Pizza - parts of the crust was almost burnt. Pizza itself was okay. Food seem to take along time to arrive and it wasn't busy (only 2 other small groups in the restaurant). Service was decent enough despite there being only 1 server at the time. Restrooms are downstairs and not accessible. All dishes are in the 18-22 dollar range with the exception of the shareable dishes they have which are priced slightly higher.

We saw a number of people leave the restaurant because they waited too long for someone to come over or drinks to come etc. We ordered not too long after we sat down. A grilled cheese for our daughter, tomato soup for me and a club sandwich for my hubby. In our experience typically kids meals come out the quickest but not in our case. Somehow our order took almost an hour to come out of the kitchen. Our server was sweet and it wasn't her fault but we weren't offered anything while we waited. While the food tasted pretty good, it was a bit of a struggle to entertain our bored and hungry toddler. If you're not in a rush, definitely check this place out!

The croquette was perfectly crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. It was a lot better than other croquettes I've had in Canada. The octopus was also really good, it was perfectly flavoured and the texture was not too chewy. The star of the show was the paella. The paella was super good, a little on the saltier side. The mussels were delicious, but it was a bit sandy inside, I felt it could be cleaned a bit better. Overall love this restaurant and would come back!

Bocado is a wonderful Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of downtown Picton and Prince Edward…read moreCounty. I booked this place for my 12 year wedding anniversary. I recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment. We were early for our reservation and the hostess was able to give us a table. There are 2 dining rooms with different themes. The front room has a beautiful bar beside the open air kitchen. The dining area has a nice bright rustic ambiance. Definitely, a great place for date night. The rear dining room has a lounge feel. The light is dimmed and tables have candlelights. There's nice lounge music playing here as well. Now for the food. The menu is divided into 3 sections: Tapas del bar - small dishes to share and sample some curated Spanish delicacies. Grande provides a selection of main course entrees. Paella is a Valencian rice dish that is great for sharing and served on a large cast iron skillet. We ordered the jamon croquetas. The croquetas were served with pickles and garlic aioli. They are delicate and packed with flavor. The second tapas we ordered was the Albacore tuna served with bulgur cracker. The dish was esthetically pleasing and we really enjoying the green liquid sauce. Very impressive dish. For our main we decided to share the seafood paella which consisted of Argentina red shrimps, organic salmon, and mussels. The rice was flavorful and we love the crispy rice on the bottom of the skillet. This dish checked all the boxes in flavor, presentation, and texture. We finished our meal with the grand finale: Spanish Churro. This is not your regular churro. This was shaped like a cinamon bun and you have two delightful dipping sauces - dolce de leche and dark chocolate. This was by far the best churro I've ever had. Overall, the experience was exceptional and I recommend this place if yoi are looking to try some elevated Spanish cuisine. The server was attentive and provided advice on how to eat each dish. The prices are on the higher-end so plan on spending about $50-$75 per person.

Passed by this place a couple of times and I always thought it was just a hotel establishment but…read moremy friend was convinced there was a restaurant hidden inside. Finally went inside to confirm and then made a reservation of that night on their outdoor patio area. The vibe is really nice since the patio is it's own separate area with some really nice...tiling? Idk it just feels really premium and good vibes outside. Ordered the Nabulsi Cheese small plate as well as the Pan Seared Flat-Iron Steak as the recommendation from the server. I'm really not that well versed in fine dining or just more pricy places, so this was a relatively new experience on my end. The nabulsi cheese plate was exceptional. The blend of flavours (olives, tomatoes, shallots) were really nice mixed together. The cheese was amazing, chewy and just great texture all on a nice sliced baguette. Kinda like a flavour explosion which was amazing. Definitely try the cheese plate. The flat-iron steak wasn't you typical steak cooked along with a potato side (mashed or fries). The steak was paired with a quinoa mix, "panca pepper demi and aji verde" which were the dark brown/black sauce and the green sauce in the picture. Steak was super tender and with both sauces were phenomenal. On the same vein as the nabulsi cheese plate, these dishes are literally flavours I've never tasted before and they were amazing. I never really tried quinoa either and was skeptical as to how it would pair alongside steak but it was actually quite nice since the texture was so different then the other things we ordered. This place is the definition of a hidden gem for me. Not even a Yelp page (woohoo another business added!) and not signage outside indicating what it is. Hopefully this review gives it it's much needed appreciation! 5 stars easily.
