First, I asked where I could put my bag down and she insisted it didn't matter and this would be quick and then was trying explaining how I wanted my bangs trimmed bc I want to grow them out and she was very dismissive about it and told me to relax and again, insisted that this would just be a super quick bang trim. I went to take my cardigan off bc I had waited around for a while and it got hot, and she said "whoa I didn't know you were going to get undressed." Generally, I felt rushed and thought that comment was weird but I tried to move past it, maybe she just a different sense of humor that's not for me but I don't really care, I just need a service done well, especially since I had to go to a wedding in 48 hours. But the part that bothered me the most was when she put the black cover around my neck, I went to move my hair from being caught under the black robe bc it feels uncomfortable for me, She literally said, word for word, "ma'am I need you to calm down. jeez people in this city are something else." I didn't know where she is from or what she thinks about people who live in this city but it is obviously very negative and was projected onto me. For context, my stylist was a white woman and I am a POC. FYI: People actually do have anxiety disorders and may need folks to be somewhat decent and welcoming in order to feel relaxed and not rushed in and out... I wouldn't have even cared about any of this if the haircut was good, but when I went home and brushed my hair properly it was literally cut at an awful uneven angle and Maybe they are nice if you're paying hundreds for a cut or color but they are not nice to folks going in for quick touch up services and apparently people in DC are "something else" so they already have preconceived notions about some of us I guess.

Sonya did just that and she was sweet, understanding, not scornful of my hair condition, and really made a dull hair shine again. As someone battling dermatitis, I booked a cut, moisture hydration treatment, and scalp exfoliating detox masks and honey...this service was just what I needed. I had been coming here for many months to do my roots without issue. I've always told the colorists…read morethat I like my natural hair and don't like to do anything to my hair that requires high maintenance since I'm very busy. After the root coloring turned my overall hair appearance much darker than my natural hair color over time, I asked for a low maintenance coloring style that could bring my hair back closer to its natural color, and for which I would need to do no up keep except keep coloring my roots. The colorist did a set of highlights on my hair that turned random strands of hair throughout my entire head ORANGE and completely damaged my hair. After I complained I had to return to get a gloss/toner. That did not solve the issue and my hair was back to orange immediately, so I had to contact the salon yet again and asked for a solution. For the first time, the colorist (a different one) told me the orange appearance will continue to come back unless I keep doing glossing or do an expensive full head single color appointment, which I was shocked to hear as that was exactly what I asked NOT to happen to my hair (and my time). They also said I should pay for a haircut. I asked the salon for an appointment for the full single color so someone could provide a more permanent solution to the issue. The salon refused to make that a complimentary visit. They also sent me a one-liner email saying I shouldn't come back. I don't typically write reviews and I am not pleased to write this as to a place that had otherwise been my regular salon for a basic root touch up. But there was serious miscommunication at every turn, rudeness by the owner for no good reason, and an unwillingness to actually pay to fix the situation for a loyal customer whose hair they destroyed on a permanent basis. I will close my eyes during haircut and open them after blow-dry to see the magic. I immediately love the woman i see in the mirror. He is very kind, listens to you but will advise against a look that will not look the best on you. He cares about how the client looks and the way they will look after. He also cares about the health of your hair suggesting, a haircut when ends are damaged. I would be lost without him. Finally, everyone at the salon is very nice.

She often gossip with another stylist (Drew) while he is with a client, distracting the stylist and providing an uncomfortable situation for the client. There are just two stylists in that salon that are good Grace and Necip, but because of the receptionist behaviour they are loosing their customers. Why would you go to a salon with such an awful environment, not worth it for the price you pay. Not to mention I wanted highlights and ended up with a very dark colored hair with no highlights.
