The Knight Butcher is my favorite lunch spot in Downtown Laurel! It's a mom and pop shop owned by two of the most customer forward business owners around. They have recently expanded their lunch menu to an all day, served hot and fresh menu. You can't go wrong with any of the sandwich options but I'm particularly fond of the Hot Ham and Cheese! You get a toasted sandwich filled with their house cured Ham and melted cheddar cheese. Plenty of condiments to choose from and you won't find friendlier service anywhere. After you grab a bite to eat, be sure to check out their gourmet meats! Try my personal favorite, Picanha, or as they call it, Coulotte and a bag of Jerky. They also have a great selection of spices and rubs. Their house made stuff is great but I love the selection of Chupacabra seasonings they carry as well.

Fun experience seeing all their offerings including meats, cheese, cuts, fudge, and even a snackle box or jerky bouquet * The box included a great variety of nuts, cheese, crackers, meat, and fudge...all gone before we made it all the way back to Florida!

Such an impressive butcher for such a tiny little town! We had the pleasure of visiting The Knight Butcher during our stay in Laurel and we were overwhelmingly impressed by the selection and the service. We popped in juuuuust about 10 minutes past the time their lunch menu ends, but the kind soul behind the counter gladly made us a ribeye burger and a roast beef and provolone sandwich anyway. Not surprising, given the level of sweet Southern hospitality we encountered everywhere we went in Laurel, but still definitely worth noting. Our lunch sandwiches came with our choice of a bottled drink and chips. To say we were pleased with our meal would be an understatement. A note to herbivores - there is nary a vegetable to be seen in this place. It's all about the meat. I think I saw a basket of locally-sourced potatoes, but that was about it. Otherwise, this is a pretty-much-carnivore-only-type-experience. Actually, I guess that's not entirely true - they have homemade fudge! Their jerky is the best on that side of the Mississippi (I've been waiting to say that for a whole week). Seriously though, it's delicious and it doesn't make you fight to eat it, which I appreciate. Overall, would recommend giving this place a visit when you're in the area. You won't regret it!

This butcher shop has been opened for about one year now. It is an attractive store that blends in well with the decor of downtown Laurel or at least parts of it. I say that as a compliment because downtown is going through a sort of a renaissance and Knight Butcher adds to it. This is a full service butcher shop. They receive a whole cow every other Monday and offer all parts of it. They offer locally raised grain fed beef. I purchased 4 rib eyes from them today and they turned out to be very good. Of course, prices are higher than beef purchased at local grocery stores and it can be argued if the beef tastes better. However, I am happy that Laurel has a business like this. I also stopped by earlier in the week for lunch. On M-W-F they offer a lunch special. The day I came by was for a brisket hamburger special that included a bag of chips and a soft drink for $9.50 before tax. I was offered cheese on my burger which I turned down and wasn't sure if that would have increased the price. Other than that my burger came plain with just the patty and bun. They had condiments there (ketchup, mayo, mustard and relish). The burger was good with a large patty (about 1/2 lb.) however I missed not having lettuce and tomato, etc. so while it was good it was somewhat plain. Chips are chips so I decided to give that meal a 3. On top of that spending over $10 with tax for that meal is a little expensive for Laurel. Counter service has been very friendly. Overall I am going to give the Knight Butcher an overall score of 4. While the lunch offerings are average you don't come here to eat. You come here to buy meat to take home and cook. And for that, I am a fan!

What are the hours? We went by at 4:30 on a Saturday and they were closed! We were in from out of town and sooo excited to try this place!

Hi! We’re Open 10-6PM Tuesday-Saturday so we should have been open unless there was an event happening or we were closed for vacation. In that case we always put a sign on the door. So sorry you missed us but we hope to see you soon! Thanks!

I tried several different flavors and my favorites were the pineapple and jalapeno. They are now making their sausages available here and I picked up some right away. Lil Butcher Shoppe is located at 1910 Broadway Dr in Hattiesburg, MS, and has been proudly serving the Pine Belt region since 1991. This family-owned and operated "olde-fashioned" butcher shop offers a wide variety of fresh, high-quality meats, local products, and excellent customer service. From its humble beginnings at Tip's gas station to its current thriving location, Lil Butcher Shoppe has become a beloved fixture in the community and now making their sausages products available in stores. Their history, brothers David Lawson and Steven Dyar founded Lil Butcher Shoppe over three decades ago, drawing inspiration from their family's history in the service industry. Prior to opening the butcher shop, David worked at Tip's, a gas station named after their mother, Christal "Tip" Lawson. The family managed the various locations from the years 1974-1990. David had worked in the family's gas station business his entire life, where he learned business management and customer service skills. After serving in the Navy, Steven Dyar began working at Carroll's Meat Shoppe, Patricia (Trish) Dyar's family butcher shop in Jacksonville, FL. This is where Steve learned the butcher trade and fell in love with Trish, whom he married. In 1990, the couple decided to move back to Mississippi. Lil Butcher Shoppe boasts a vast selection of fresh, hand-cut beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. Customers can also request custom cuts to suit their preferences. In addition to high-quality meats, the shop offers a range of homemade items, such as: * Stuffed Potatoes (6 flavors) * Bratwursts * Boudin * Meatloaf * Smoked Chicken * Stuffed Porkchops * Stuffed Chicken * Gumbo * Mardi Gras Pasta Sauce * Casseroles * Stuffed Mushrooms & Peppers * Crawfish Pies The shop also stocks an assortment of cheeses, homemade jams, and various ready-to-bake dishes. With such a diverse array of offerings, Lil Butcher Shoppe truly caters to a wide range of tastes and culinary needs. I have already prepared a number of dishes for breakfast and dinner using several of these sausages and I'm a fan. The pineapple flavor is very good just grilled on a bun with a pineapple slaw and the jalapeno one is great with beans. I have more ideas and there's lots of ideas. Bottom line: Lil Butcher Shoppe has stood the test of time as a family-owned, community-oriented establishment in Hattiesburg, MS. Offering an extensive array of high-quality meats, homemade dishes, and local products, it remains a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike who appreciate quality and exceptional customer service.
