Brought my adopted feline buddy back for his recheck and found out Dr Ruiz retired :,( We met Dr Larson for the first time. Our visit went well. I found out that they have an email address to use if I have questions needing return contact. I had called twice prior to this visit. Enjoy retirement Dr Ruiz, you will be missed after over 30 years of being a household name. We had been through adopting my first kitten from the last litter you took into your clinic back in the 80s, to bringing in our second as a stray, bladder crystals , age related anxiety and many arthritis injections through the years. Your knowledge into the minds and bodies of a Feline allowed our furry loved ones to live their best lives into old age. Teaching us people how to best fit into their lives. Somehow it worked that we were able to bring in our very new addition prior to your leaving. You gave us the tools we needed to assist our new member to live his best life too. So far kitty litter use is amazing. His anxiety reduced and he continues to blossom. Thank you!!! Dr. Larson is continuing on with our Little Buddy's care, getting other possible GI issues treated as well. We are all getting to know each other. read more

We highly recommend Dr Ruiz from The Kitty Clinic to Vet General. She has years of experience and is very compassionate.

I've been going to kitty clinic for a couple of years now. Dr Ruiz usually treats my kitty Bella. She has multiple problems: High blood pressure, heart murmur, hyperthyroidism. She is15. i can't get over all the negative reviews for this place. I do agree there should always have someone at the front answering phones. Bernie is fantastic, also Dr. Ruiz, however, suggested putting her down because she thought she had blood clots in her legs that prevented her from walking properly and took an xray, where she thought Bella had possible cancer in her bowel. She suggested an ultrasound to verify the CA diagnosis. I have an appt. coming up for ultrasound. But since I saw Dr. Ruiz, she is walking almost normal, (I am so happy the blood clot possibly dissolved.) Actually she is doing great!! Dr Ruiz gave her an injection for her arthritis in her hip, and it really works. She no longer wimpers when we pick her up. We will continue with the shots every month. I have always gotten a return call from the front, and occasionally got no answer. But I think because Bella is in there frequently, she is a preferred customer and I can reach them easily. I won't take her anywhere else. The girls, there, are so gentle and kind to her. read more

I have been going to Dr. Ruiz since 1999 and was very unhappy when she sold the practice. I was told she moved to new Vet at General Veterinary in Shelby Twp off 24 and Hayes Road!!!! read more

Dr. Ruiz RETIRED Wed. Oct. 16, 2024 so, I can't say how it will be now. Dr. Ruiz IMO is irreplaceable..Techs Venus and Bernie also left. BUUUT, the other Vet Techs, Denae, Hailey & Savannah ARE ALL EXCELLENT. I cannot speak for the new Vet, tho... read more

called to ask the clinic a question about working with advertisements and the front desk hung up on me. Then when I call back and asked for an office manager they said they didn't have no such thing. she passed it along to someone else and they came up with an excuse saying that their phones are always hanging up on people. And they're extremely busy so she didn't mean to hang up on me. if they're that rude over the phone, I wonder how they are in person. read more

I started with Dr. Ruiz because I wanted a vet who specialized in cats. It was a great clinic for my four cats until she sold her practice to Parkway. i wouldn't send my enemy's animals to Parkway let alone take my cats there. my mother's cat has bad allergies and one of the vet's there prescribed a medicine that worked well. I also have a cat with bad allergies, I took him in to the clinic, seeing a different doctor than my mom saw and she would not prescribe it, which tells me there is not an agreement amongst these vets as far as care goes. time To find a new veterinary clinic! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would that's what this place deserves! Ever since this clinic was sold to another owner front desk doesn't care about patients and will NEVER ANSWER THE PHONES OR CALL YOU BACK!!! I was calling for a week straight and no answer multiple voicemails and nothing back. I decided to go in with my cat and I was YELLED at saying "IF YOU DONT HAVE AN APPOINTMENT DONT COME IN" I explained to her I was calling for a week and you guys aren't answering or calling back. Then I was told " CANT YOU GET THE HINT WE DONT WANT TO TREAT YOUR CATS PLEASE LEAVE" I be been taking my cats here for 11 years ever since the previous owner sold her practice this place went to hell! DO NO TAKE YOUR CATS OR BUSINESS HERE!! read more

I had three cats that had a herpes infection (like a cat cold) I was so upset and brought them to this vet (we had been going there for a while) she tried antibiotics and they did not work, she recommended Lysine which did not work. My cats were still sick and my elder Siamese was getting sicker. I went in a couple times as an emergency as I was afraid we were going to lose him We paid an extra fee each time. Finally, the last time we took him in, my husband took him in by himself and the vet told him that I was a hysterical woman and she no longer wanted our business. Needless to say we never went there again, we went to VCA where we were always treated pleasantly. DO NOT go to The Kitty Clinic if you want sympathetic and compassionate treatment. read more

(Continuation of my 4/3/23 review) The person I spoke with (don't know her name and if she was a tech or vet) immediately said they had not received a request. I told her what Parkway said about trying to call and no answer. This person immediately took up an attitude with me claiming they always answer their phone. When I countered with my personal attempts to call, this person then said it was not their problem and that Parkway should have left a message. I argued that I have left messages with no call back. I asked her to give me the records or could she send them right now since I was trying to get my cat in for surgery as she was very ill, that this was a Thursday and I doubted if she would make it through the weekend for surgery the next week. This woman again rebuffed me and said I have to realize they are very busy. I insisted I needed the records now. She sat down at the computer and said the records show they DID get the request and had faxed over the records 2 days before. I told her that I had just come from the Parkway Hospital and they said they had not received them, my cat was very ill and I needed her to send them again right now. I was insistent and she got up, said she was not going to talk to me anymore and walked away leaving me standing at the desk. I was furious and I yelled out I was not leaving until I knew they had sent over the records again. Another woman came out, a person I recognized as one of the vets I had seen there before. She asked what I needed, sat down at the computer and promptly emailed over the records. Parkway got the records, my cat was operated on by Dr. Knapp that evening (he stayed after the hospital closed and did the surgery to remove a large tumor). Tumor turned out to be attached to bile duct and other organs, not removable and looked to be cancerous. He said he could close her up and send her home but we probably would only have a few weeks. We opted to let her go rather than have her awake and be in pain, not eating and watch her fade away. Finale: I called the Kitty Clinic and let them know she had died and to cancel the follow-up visits already booked. We never received a sympathy card from the Kitty Clinic but we did from the Parkway Hospital staff and Dr. Knapp. I scheduled visits with a new vet, and found that our boy cat had lost one tooth in the past, had significant dental issues, needed 2 infected teeth removed, was given an antibiotic shot and had a heart murmur. None of this was discovered upon initial exam with Kitty Clinic. I went into the Kitty Clinic to pick up some medicine ordered 1 month before (because they did not have any when they prescribed it). The medicine was prepaid and it had been in for some time but they never called us. I told the receptionist/tech that I wanted to have the cats' records sent to a new vet. The woman that gave me a hard time on getting the sick cat's records sent to Parkway came rushing out to the front desk. I told the receptionist/tech I was moving to a new vet because of the problems I had when trying to get Sweetie's records sent to Parkway and how the person standing next to her first lied to me saying that Parkway never called and requested the records. Of course, she immediately started arguing with me and started bragging about how well she is liked and just look at her good reviews online. I reviewed the actions and statements she made to me on that previous visit and her refusal to help me get the records and that another woman (who I knew to be a vet) had to step in and take the action to email the records. I told her she refused to help me that date and now she was again giving me an attitude, especially seeing I am still upset about losing my cat. This woman actually said to me "that (the loss of my cat) was NOT HER PROBLEM, and the DOCTOR SHOULD NEVER HAVE OPENED HER UP!" Quite frankly, I was shocked that she would say something so cruel to me and particularly thought she was insinuating that Dr. Knapp, who examined and diagnosed my cat as a "visiting" vet but still a representative of the Kitty Clinic, was incompetent or made the wrong recommendation of surgery. I left, but I wish I had gotten her name. This is long story but I took the time to post it just to make you aware of my experience and especially regarding this one lazy, lying, rude, and incredibly insensitive employee there. read more

Would not allow me to choose zero stars, which is what I wanted to choose. Any veterinarian, vet tech, or even a simple receptionist in a vet office who recommends de-clawing is harmful, cruel, and abusive. You should run, not walk, out of that clinic. De-clawing is barbaric, cruel, and harmful. It is also unnecessary and causes lifelong pain, which results in behavioral issues that often lead to the cat being surrendered because the owners are too ignorant and uninformed to figure out what the problem is. Take a look at your own hand. See the knuckle just under finger nail? Well, when your cat is de-clawed, they remove the equivalent of that from their toe: they cut off from the knuckle and above on each toe, as there is no way to take off cats' nails and prevent them from growing. De-clawing is incredibly painful, and results in lifelong pain in the paws. De-clawing also leads to many cats being taken to shelters for no longer going to the bathroom in the litter box; because when the cats return home after being de-clawed, their paws are in excruciating pain. When they attempt to go into the litter box, then scratch the litter, the pain is unbearable, and the cat associates the pain with the litter box, so it will stop going into the litter box. Imagine that scene from "The Wizard of Oz" where the wicked witch tries to take the ruby slippers from Dorothy by zapping them off of her, and the electricity goes back up the witch's hands into her fingers, causing massive pain. THAT is what cats feel when the get de-clawed. Also, because the cat is in such excruciating pain, they become what people perceive as aggressive, mean, and no longer social, no longer wanting to play or be touched. Their personality changes because they are dealing with constant pain. Think about it; even walking is excruciating to them. Anyone considering de-clawing their cat is lazy, cruel, and heartless and incredibly ignorant, uninformed and unintelligent, not to mention inhumane. The same goes for any vet who agrees to do it. The first line of the Hippocratic Oath is "First, do no harm". De-clawing cats is harmful, very painful, inhumane, and negatively affects cats for life. A lot of states prohibit de-clawing, and there was legislation pending in Michigan to prohibit it here. Cats can be easily trained to not scratch furniture and/or carpeting; I have done it for almost 30 years. Give them what you DO want them to scratch and they will leave your furniture and carpet alone. DO NOT inflict lifelong pain on your cat just for your own arrogance, pride, convenience, ignorance, or prioritizing possessions over the well-being and health of your cat. If you are too lazy to train a cat (or any animal, for that matter), don't get one. Don't just decided to cut off half of each of its toes to make things 'easier' for you. And anyone who suggests or encourages declawing your cat should be avoided like the plague. read more

This vet is taking cats in during Covid. They are fantastic. Dr. Ruiz has taken care of our 3 cats for the past 2 years. She knows her vet medicine. We had to euthanise one of our 3, Morris last week. We were beside ourselves due to a sudden sickness, because was quick. The staff were sympathetic and a bit upset too. We received a nice pet sympathy card with messages from Dr. Ruiz, Venus, Bernie, Justine and staff. Very sympathetic and with class. Thank You for your service and trying on Morris. We really still tear up over him. I highly recommend them. read more

This place is a complete joke. They don't care about their patients at all. I've been calling for over a week for my cat who needs to be seen, they don't even answer their phone. I really liked the fact that they treat only cats but my last visit concerned me... when asked how my cat was doing since his neuter, I mentioned he was a little more aggressive but the other bad behavior had corrected... the Dr suggested de-clawing... not why wasn't this discussed 3 weeks ago when he was neutered read more

My parents called them Wednesday morning, yes before they opened but they left a message explaining our cat was sick and wasn't doing good at all it's clear his in pain and they wanted to bring him in to see if there was anything they could do, if not unfortunately they wanted to bring him in to be put down so he didn't have to suffer any more. Our cat was in 17 years old and it was clear he was on his way out and we needed help. Well they NEVER called back and my cat passed away a couple hours later. They then called to ask what happens next, we've never had a pet pass at home before and they were distraught and needed help and guidance, again no answer and no call back. We have always taken our cats here they have always been pleasant and resourceful. I will never call this place again. To let a family deal with this alone and helpless is horrible and there's no forgiving that. read more

Spectacular!!! We had a cat losing weight with no explanation. Went to another vet and did a blood test. That doctor said my that nothing was unusual. Took the same result to Dr. Ruiz, she instantly determined the concern (cat irritable bowel syndrome). We are on a course of treatment and so far, Boo is doing fine. Please go to this clinic. Talented, common sense, cost effective and great staff!!! read more

Really great vet. Dr. Tina Ruiz is so good with cats you'll question if she maybe is hiding a secret tail. This vet is only for cats as the name suggests, so they really cater to your animal. It's very affordable and all meds you may need they can help you find the best deal or get transdermals if available *that's when they have a pharmacy compound the pills into an ointment for their ears to absorb* Anyone with a cat knows getting a pill down is hard to do. The older the animal the more complicated. The first time I brought my cat here the vet tecs and vet really took time to listen to my kitty's health history and needs. They thoroughly explain any issues and ask what else you want to know about procedures, side effects of meds, therapy, etc..now i would never go anywhere else. They do have a long list of patients so I suggest making appointments as far in advance as you can, but if you explain you need to come in for x reason asap, they'll work with you. i trust my 4 legged baby here and they will treat you and your like family. read more

They did a great job with my 9 year old stray cat Ebony - she needed her teeth extracted and had a skin condition which they identified right away and administered the appropriate treatment for. This is a wonderful clinic with a knowledgeable and honest vet. Staff was fabulous and very nice as well. They were able to fit my cat in for an appointment for a leg injury . My regular vet could not fit me in for 3 additional days! They did not run unnecessary tests and have reasonable pricing. Very happy and will be taking all of my cats there going forward for their care. It's also nice that it's dedicated to cats so not so scary there for the little ones with dogs barking in the lobby! read more

Been bringing my cat here for a couple years. Usually in and out. No problems. Today I wore a donald trump mask. Their over 10 minutes late on the appointment. Then they have my cat 12 minutes more and come out and say that my cat wont let them do her nails. Coincidence? We had a few words and as I'm leaving she called me a typical trump supporting loser. read more

took my 22 year old kitty here w bad symptoms fully aware of the possibility of euthanasia which broke my heart, the vet proceeded to come into the office (tried running back out without even glancing at the cat) only to demand thousands of dollars for testing that didn't make sense with the symptoms, gaslighted and talked down to me when I even asked her to check for fleas (she had fleas, but the vet said black gritty dandruff is normal and until I begged her to check it) then after tests that made sense w the symptoms she demanded more money for tests and said euthanizing the cat was the only other option, although this was very obviously just a threat in pursuit for more money. She had a UTI an ear infection and fleas, a month later after using the medication she's perfectly fine and much better than before. read more

Very disappointed with this clinic. My mother has been taking her senior cat there for regular care. Over the weekend he became very ill with not eating and vomiting some blood. She called the Kitty Clinic first thing Monday morning to get him in and she was told they could not see him that day. They referred her to an emergency clinic. $700.00 later he was diagnosed with a stomach mass. My mother is a senior on a fixed income and simply doesn't have this kind of money but she paid it anyways as she loves him so. I have worked in the veterinary field for the past 25 years. We always would get our clients and sick pets in to be seen. She was not offered any options like to drop him off, wait etc. No empathy for her situation. Very cold hearted. I would not recommend this facility. read more

We have been going to The Kitty Clinic ever since we had a bad experience with another vet. So it's been at least 8 years . We have 5 cats and Dr Ruiz has been our only vet . She is so sweet and loving with our cats. She gets that we are cat people and go above and beyond for our cats. The staff is so amazing there. I had to say how much I love kitty clinic and Dr Ruiz after I read some false descriptions about her . She is serious about cats and their care; if your not she won't be afraid to tell you. Which is how it should be. She is always putting their interest first . That's the kind of vet I want . One who is passionate about animals and their health. It's insulting to me when anyone writes anything negative about her or The Kitty Clinic. Best vet ! My only regret is Dr. Ruiz doesn't treat humans. If she did she would be my Doctor ! read more

The Kitty Clinic - Veterinarians Near Me - Clinton Township, Michigan

This place is amazing. I went to 3 different vets before the Kitty Clinic, and one specialist who never could tell me what was wrong with my fur baby. The other vets just kept prescribing more tests and medicines that might help, but none did. Finally, I was told to try this as a last resort before putting her down. The Kitty Clinic was amazing. I walked in extrememly emotional worrying that she was so sick that i would have to put her down, and they were very calming. They went over all her paperwork, and Dr. Ruiz knew what was wrong right away. Happily, my fur baby is still with us four years later and is as happy as ever. Now all my fur babies go there and they know me when I walk in. The vet techs are super compassionate towards the kitties and gentle. The cost is pretty average for vets if not a little on the cheaper side. They always work with me to make sure I can come in even if they technically have no availability for the day. I have never been rushed out, and Dr. Ruiz and her vet techs always take the time to ensure I understand what is going on. read more

My long hair cat had a bad mat that we could not cut out with scissors. She is the type of cat that may have to be tranquilized for this. Other vets in the area turned me down, called kitty clinic they were happy to see her, happy to treat her, and they did without any problems. It is good to know that there are still vets that actually still care about an animals well being. read more

If i could give zero stars i would. I was told this was a kitty clinic, however they can't do anything without sedating a cat who has been fine at every other vet. How rude they were amazed me, talking shit about me and my cat with all the doors open so we could hear. Right when i walked in just to get my cats second distemper shot she says well looks like we have to sedate her when she is here, i said no i never get her sedated but i asked for it last time as i needed them to completely shave her. She is 2 years old. She didn't listen to a word i said, took her back, almost sedated her without my permission. Then i heard enough from them talking shit and said give her back I'll go anywhere else but here. Absolutely horrible, do not take your animals here! Last time i was here and got her hair cut when i came to pick her up they said "are you here to pick up your wild child" which i laughed at first but then will a full waiting room when they went to get her from the back they told everyone in the waiting room to cover their ears. How unprofessional. Everyone's cats were making noises, not just mine. I'm over these people, and I've only been here twice. Don't try to tell me you know my cat better than me after seeing her once. read more

My kitty is "special " (aren't they all). She's a Napolean Munchkin. Although I don't find one of the vet's personality toward us human's all warm and fuzzy all of the time, she knows her stuff! My kitty misbehaved at one of her check up's and the Dr took it all in stride without holding her misbehavior against her. She needed a prescription diet change for IBD. New food recommended, followed up and dosed with great improvement. Spay surgery done without incident. Allowing me to love on - hold my fur baby anytime - all the time to comfort her (waiting for her tranquilizers to kick in) . Meds compounded on site including custom unique dosing for size. Phone calls taken with care and compassion. Front desk staff compassionate and engaging. I even got a "happy birthday" to my kitty text (politely reminding me to get my kitty in for an anual check up) read more

I love the Kitty Clinic. My cats always get great treatment for 20+ years! Dr. Ruiz has also been very compassionate with all three of my cats as well as the other doctors. If you need an x-ray I would definitely get a digital one at an animal hospital if the Kitty Clinic does not have the capability. This happened, the one at the clinic was inconclusive and the digital one was very clear what was going on. The cost of the x-rays are the same. I feel that was a waste at the clinic but you live and learn! I'm sure the cost of updating the equipment is holding them back. read more

Actually been goin thru for a number of years. Loved Dr Brock. Dr ruiz has no compassion. Had to euthanize my 18 year old cat. Dr ruiz came in checked her heartbeat asked about cremation and left the room! No sooner then she left room staff comes in to get payment and I see $45 for office visit not including the $55 euthanism nor the cremation. As distraught as Iwas I questioned the office exam and she said cause my cat has not been seen in a year that she had to charge me that. Pretty sad. After Dr realized i paid already she came and got my cat put her doen and brought her back to me not keven telling me why my cat was so sick! So when she brought me back my animal I asked why? She then kinda quickly handed me a kitty angel and told me to spend time with pet. Absolutely no compassion. I have other cats and i can guaruantee I will be going elsewhere as long as she is the Dr there. read more

I took my beloved 18 year old kitty to this vet and was told that she was in the second stage of kidney failure. The way that Dr. Ruiz delivered this devastating news was completely devoid of compassion. She had no interest in taking time to answer my questions only to tell me that my kitty had maybe a year to live if she was lucky. She then dismissed me by abruptly leaving the exam room never to return as if to say "Oh well, just another dead cat. Next please!" Make no mistake, Dr. Ruiz sees your kitty as just another buck in her pocket and nothing more. I promptly took my kitty elsewhere and today TWO YEARS later with special care she is doing very well! I hate to think that had I kept her in the hands of Ruiz she would surely be dead today instead of curled up on my lap purring as she is right now.
