Went to Kiln after my grandson's baseball game. There were lots of cars in the parking lot but still empty tables inside. We ordered the Dad Bod pizza, a salad, a Dark Persuasion stout , and a Guava cider. Everything was delicious. I also tried the RRR brown ale, but is was too hoppy for me. The staff was friendly and helpful with our beverage selections, This place is larger than it looks. Although there were lots of cars, there were still empty tables. There is a large outside patio area but it was a chilly evening do we opted for indoors. The setting is a modern chrome and black look. It was suite noisy. Let me tell you how fucking disgusted i am with this establishment. My name is Michael Shultis. I am an orthopedic physician assistant in yakima....have been for 14 years. Recently i started going through a breakup with my wife. I am also an artist andca writer. So....to relax after seeing 22 to 24 patients a day or replacing a shoulder or a knee in surgery....i enjoyed having a pint or two at the kiln. But....after playing a few games of pool tonight with some insecure little boys.... One of these boys accosted me after identifying himself as an employee of the kiln and screamed in my face repeatedly that "everyone in the kiln knows you are creep and are taking pictures of girls." Repeatedly at the top of his lungs. Somewhat slandering a highly respected medical provider in this community that is beyond reproach. So.....the entire crew at the kiln talk shit about the patrons paying their wages. Like going to a barber who talks lies behind your back. Or better yet.....a little baby's sandbox. Great pizza. We also had the loaded hummus which my liked but I didn't. We just had soft drinks and they were fine, but in cans/bottle with refill options we were aware of. The parking lot was full but most everyone was outside. It was a nice evening and it would have been nice outside but there was no seating available so we sat inside. This place is so spacious! It's even got a doggie area! And they also have a place where you can use WiFi and watch movies and eat yummy pizza and cheesy bread! It seems like every time I come back home to Yakima to visit since moving to North Carolina in 2018 I meet up with friends here at The Kiln. The atmosphere is lively whether we're sitting inside or in the spacious outside area. I'm usually visiting in the summer, and the cold, crisp beverages hit the spot. Came with a work group to the Kiln for dinner and drinks. First off, there is a ton of space and tables to sit and relax. The staff were super accommodating to our large-ish group. We've been looking forward to this place opening for sometime, and now that it's open, it has become a spot we're heading up on a very regular basis. They specialize in Nw beers, pizzas and sandwiches. The place is located in West Valley and is one of only a few good options in the area. They have a great indoor and outdoor space for gathering, eating and for the kids to run around. As the weather gets nicer, this ends up being one of the spots to hit up. They participated in the restaurant week in 2021 and as such, we ended up there a couple times. The Aloha Oe and sweet and salty Became quick favorites. The sweet and salty has goat cheese, bacon and Granny Smith apples. The Aloha Oe boasts Pulled pork and roasted pineapple. I must say, I was not expecting to like the roasted pineapple as much as I did, but it is well worth trying! We also tried the pork shanks, which were delightful. The only swing and a miss was the Bread and sauce, which was focaccia bread and some red sauce for dipping. The focaccia bread was just OK. End of the day, we're not going to a pizza place looking for dipping bread, so it still gets a five star bump! The wait time when we have come here has been 30-45 minutes whether busy or not and the servers claim "it's coming" or "we have to go orders". The restrooms are also poorly designed. First time here while visiting Yakima for a wedding. We ordered 2 pizzas and a salad. We got our first pizza about 30 minutes later, but the salad and the other pizza took another hour...with 2 kids under 5 with us, this was incredibly hard. On top of that, one of the servers came out and outright blamed a new staff member for messing up our pizza...so unprofessional. All in all, the taste was mediocre at best, and took forever to come out. We had no silverware, napkins, etc. and had to ask for absolutely everything. Ordered wings , half gochujang half honey habanero . It was so good that I ordered a second batch Togo !, iPhone leaving an arriving home at tieton which is 25 minutes to 30 minute drive I find that it is full gochujang and not my half an half order . Called they were more than willing to fix and then when I came one of the workers came and said he opened the box and checked and saw there was parsley all over the wings . Okay atmosphere, Pizza has been undercooked with RAW dough every time we have ordered pizza (2x). The one time we decided to try the wings they were also RAW. Maybe it's new young cooks or maybe they just want to pull a fast one on you and charge $21 for a raw pizza. Either way, don't waste your money on the food. Very questionable quality and very over priced. Drink selection is okay but you're still better off at Public House for variety. We have lived on the Eastside (Seattle) for years (6+) and can't believe how restaurants on the west side get away with charging their customers for half assed food. The kiln is a great place for large groups to hang out abs have fun! The inside is concrete so it can get pretty noisy! But the ambience can't be beat! It's beautiful inside and out! They have a great menu with gluten free options, good beer and cider selections, and so many spots to hang! The space is great, but we ordered the margarita pizza. There was hardly any cheese at all on the pizza and it wasn't melted, no basil or anything. It was basically a large piece of toast with tomato sauce on it and a few small dots of cheese. didn't hit the spot at all. I think they can up their game by elevating their toppings. My significant other and I came here on accident thinking it was a different business. But since we were here and saw they had outdoor seating we got several things off the menu and stayed. Was not offered the same treatment as the other few customers that were there. I even provided a order and tried to get them to changed there option about me or my business before giving me a chance to communicate that information. I was prejudged and downgraded. Pizza was pretty good, it reminded me of Costco pizza (greasy, salty). Wings were baked and soft, I would've preferred them fried and crispy. I wasn't a fan of them. I got a kids chicken strip for my kiddo and the chicken were burnt and hard like they just threw them in the oven too long. He only ate one or two pieces that weren't so burnt. They should offer fries as a side but I'm assuming they don't because they don't have a fryer. If I go again I'll try something different to eat. read more
