After dealing with other companies that couldn't figure out how to fully program a new key fob and fix my car's push-to-start system, these guys came through completely. I originally called the dealership, but they were outrageously expensive, didn't have the part in stock, and put me on a waitlist without even being able to schedule an appointment. I ended up finding The Key Crew through my AAA coverage, and I am so grateful I did. They were fast, trustworthy, and very affordable. I've learned the hard way how difficult it is to find reliable service in a pinch, so finding them was a total lifesaver. I will definitely be ordering a backup key from them soon just to be safe. I needed a duplicate of my key fob blade which uses a high-precision blank. The Key Crew scanned the key, milled a new one, and tested it in about 20 minutes. It works perfectly and the price was reasonable. read more

They also worked with me because I had to get my car towed out of the parking garage, and they were the absolute best deal even though they had to come out twice. I cannot recommend them enough. I contacted this company, and a few others, through Yelps "projects" for getting estimates. I was given an estimate for 2 different vehicles and then as most things happen, I got busy. Well I made the stop to come in and check to see how long the offer was good for?! They had provided me with a reference number and was easy to pull up in their system! Super awesome. They honored the quote! When I walked in, I saw one employee helping another customer and the others on the phone, this establishment is big yet small. They offer "come to you" service as they have a couple of vans and a small parking lot in addition to parking on the street. It is located off the main street, so parking was easy to find. I was in and out in 15 minutes, because I came in with a key that was already cut. However, the gentleman before me was getting a key cut and by the time I was leaving, they were programing the key to his car so he would have left minutes after I did. Highly recommend the quality and swevuve you revieve here! They are competitive in pricing and I feel like I got my money's worth in having that extra key, in case of emergencies...or in my case a key & fob that was literally on its last leg. We were having issues with our front door and I gave The Key Crew a call. I've used them for years for key copying because they are conveniently located in Normal Height. I had no idea they also did home visits. The issue was not urgent but they responded right away (under an hour from when I called). As usual, everyone was super nice. The technician (I'm so sorry I forgot his name...I think it was Josh) was great. He clearly explained everything and made sure everything worked (as well making some new keys to replace worn ones) before he left. Definitely recommend them. read more

They're young; I'm not. They know the specifics about locks; I don't. They sent be back home to take pictures which I quickly did. They had the lock I was looking for; I set up a time certain appointment to have it installed, They said they'd try to come around then. They never came. I'd go back if I needed something and I couldn't find someone local to do it. Staff appears to be knowledgeable, busy and professional, but I felt they didn't want to deal with me. I'm elderly and have no idea how to put or take out a lock. read more

I needed to unfortunately get some rekeying done. I put out on yelp to receive some quotes. I got quite a few companies that responded quickly but I wanted to check out some places where you could get an AAA discount. I came across this place, it seemed to have a very high rating out of 500+ reviews. I was able to communicate with them very easily on pricing and availability. They did the service within the time window, they called before coming over. AJ was professional, kind, understanding and efficient. He was able to get everything all squared away for us. Smart Key wasn't being recognized by my 2015 Jaguar XF after disconnecting the battery to recharge, due to a parasitic drain. I called the Key Crew to reprogram the fobs and get me back on the road ASAP,and was quoted $450. They wanted me to pay up front but I was hesitant and offered half up front and the remainder after completion of work. The tech I spoke with, Timothy McMillan, insisted he'd only come to my home for $300 and would come on 8/29/'26 in the morning. I paid in good faith, and advised to come as early as possible because of the heat in Spring Valley, and even sent him the forecast temps for the morning. After the tech arrived at 9:30, he connected the battery and found a fault in the BCM, not reading the vin number, and after over an hour of being on his laptop, told me he couldn't finish the job and would have to come two days later! Also, that the $300 I'd paid only covered the diagnosis...straight RIP OFF!!! I strongly recommend ANYONE needing their key fob be reprogrammed by Key Crew BEWARE!!! I had to contact another mobile Key coder to come to my house a few hours later to do the job right...for a lower fee! Imagine that...Key Crew...you make San Diego car enthusiasts cringe on how you do business and treat your paying customers. Aught to be ashamed of yourselves! read more

First of all, they were very responsive and informative when I sent out a Yelp Project request, including giving pricing and setting an "appointment" time. Second, they had the best value for us. They used an aftermarket fob for our newer SUV, and after programming and the key cut, it was over 50% off of what dealers were charging, and at least 20% off the next closest estimate. Fob did all the functions just like the OEM one. Third, the techs were friendly, efficient, and professional--I was getting multiple keys cut for other vehicles so I was hanging around for a bit, and witnessed good customer service for others throughout the wait. Notes: 90 day warranty. +3% if using a CC. Office has a couple benches and good AC. They're on Adam's Ave. so parking might be a challenge, but they have their own small parking lot. read more

Wow what great service from The Key Crew. One of the best run businesses I've dealt with in awhile. I needed a new transponder key for my truck, not an easy key to duplicate. But these guys had the equipment and their prices are more than fair. It feels like inflation hasn't hit this crew yet. I had an issue using the key in my car, but Tim was such an expert that he was able to take my ignition apart in like two seconds and repair my ignition column, which wasn't his fault at all. So he really went above and beyond just cutting me a new key and basically did a car repair. And I was so amazed not to be charged extra for that. Thanks so much! read more

Prompt, friendly and excellent service! The battery for the fob that locks and opens my 9 year old Honda was replaced a year ago at the dealer, but mysteriously started to malfunction a month ago, then died. Efren replaced the battery, then noted that the fob was misfiring and staying on, which he said is a problem with Honda fobs. He obtained a new fob, set up the circuitry and recut the key (which was showing its age). Now the fob is as good as new, and am a happy customer. read more

Denying that they gave me a keyfob that did not work is a reflection of their records keeping. I paid for something and it did not work. I initially gave 3 stars because the old man who helped me really tried and it worked at the store but failed to work after leaving. Since the owner or manager tried to dismiss my review, I downgraded to 2 stars. Never dismiss your customers because you fail to keep records. They were quick and affordable. Other locksmith services were charging anywhere from $130 to $250 while they were able to come to my house and unlock my door for $65 and also printed out another copy of my key on the spot for only $2. I've been there a different time to make a copy of my car key to have a spare which was relatively quick also.
