This is one of our best kayaking experiences we have ever had. The check in was very easy and they had awesome equipment. We chose to go through the mangroves, and it did not disappoint us. Skip Key West, come straight here and kayak the mangroves!! We opted for a self guided tour in a double kayak and saw a ton of fish, sharks and a couple manatee! The guides were helpful when asked the best places to fish too. We had high wind, so bay side was only option, but it was great none the less. read more

Went to Robbie's on Saturday 3-12 and checked out the Kayak Shack for a little R&R on the water. It was a great time and the employees that attended us were so friendly. We were only allowed to go the mangroves because of the heavy wind that day, but it was a relaxing and great experience! read more

The Kayak Shack is located at Robbie's Marina which is an awesome location to visit not only if you want to Kayak but also eat, shop, rent Jet Ski's, etc.. The whole process is seamless from where you pay to then getting an overview of the area and recommended routes. We wanted to paddle out to Indian Key that day but it was a bit windy and I was worried my younger kids would not be able to handle it. Even if you don't make it out to Indian Key, the inshore route was great which allowed us not only to see lots of wildlife but also experience the paddling through dense mangroves and look down into crystal clear waters. This was one of the highlights of our trip to the Florida Keys. read more

Okay so on our staycation in the keys we heard that Robbie's was a great place. We did the snorkeling one day but on this day we tried their 2-hour jet ski tour. It was just absolutely phenomenal. Our tour guide, Kayla, took us on a really amazing tour through the keys, the weather wasn't perfect but she made it a great experience. We rode on brand new skis that were only a week old. They handled great. Please note that if you are drinking you will not be allowed to rent the skis so please arrive sober, and not holding beers. That said, we both highly recommend it and would totally do this again. We did 2 hours and wanted to do an hour more. Some of the best parts were just ripping water out in the keys, and coasting through the mangroves and seeing the wildlife there. We saw a nurse shark and a big ray. I think the best deal is if it is if it's two of you, do a two-person ski, it's $200 for two hours. read more

Jeff guided us through a 2HR jet ski plus snorkeling tour--it was fantastic! He was patient and calm which made it even more enjoyable. The kids loved it! We also did the self guided kayak tour through the mangroves, another great activity. read more

Took the Jetski and kayak package , well worth the money ! We headed out, piloting our own Jet ski and followed the guid ( on his jet ski ). First part was a riding around in the mangrove and the sand bars while looking for local wild life. We saw sharks, sting rays and sea turtles. Later on we headed out to the Atlantic for snorkeling over an off shore reef. We also had a chance to do a lot of high speed riding around. Two hours of non stop fun ! Our guid, Jeff ( JW ) was super cool and very friendly. The package we got includes a four hour kayak rental ( which we'll do later on today ). Before our tour we got to feed the huge tarpon fish ( at the same location ) and finished off with a meal at the " hungry tarpon restaurant " ( same location too ). After reading several reviews and speaking with staff we chose to go with the Kayak Shack to rent our kayaks and explore the mangroves. The staff member we spoke with over the phone was phenomenal. Once arriving the staff member Paul that assisted us was the polar opposite of the original person we spoke with. He was rude, had an attitude, and was far from helpful with information we were seeking. Once at our kayaks staff JW was great and very friendly. Overall our experience was great other than dealing with Paul. It was a bit pricey and military discount was surprisingly selective. read more

We stumbled upon this place and rented 2 single kayaks for the day for $45 each. We rented full day so we could take our time and so glad we did. What an amazing adventure paddling through the mangrove tunnels. We saw alot of birds: Osprey. Cormorant. Kingfisher. Herons. Ibis. And also Jellyfish. Shark. schools of jumping Mullet. And a friendly Iguana. Lunch at the Hungry Tarpon was good too. read more

We signed in, paid our fee for our double kayak and off we went. First we went through the mangrove. ( they provide a map). It got really tight at times, be ready to get real low for some branches. They tell you to watch for speeding boats at a couple points where the channels are; they're not concerned about their wake, but you can see and hear them coming a long way off so that's not a problem. We did some open water in what they called the shark nursery but didn't see any. However we did see a jellyfish, lots of pelicans and two rays about three feet across. We could hear the crocs on one of the mangrove/islands we got close to, and then we got away from it. We were out about two hours and it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed it. The man at the launch was nice and explained the route well. The wind was only about 5 to 8 mph so it was an easy paddle. Highly recommend. read more

We arrived at 10:30am, was told by the gal at the desk that we couldn't kayak until 11:30am "due to weather" (which was sunny, blue skies and 84° at the time). So we did some shopping and returned. Same associate took our payment, briefed us on the route and launched our kayaks. Just 30min into paddling through the mangrove tunnel, my kayak began to sink and I was stranded in the middle of a powerboat channel. Luckily, I was able to call the shop and the manager Paul came to my rescue right away! He noticed I was given a kayak that was on the "to be repaired" shelf and had a hole in the bottom. He apologized profusely, admitted fault, refunded our money and comped our lunch at Robbie's. Obviously, this should have never happened, but I was pleased with the way Paul handled it. He made it right. We didn't get to complete the excursion so I can't speak to the actual kayak route or wildlife sightings. But I applaud Paul for his excellent customer service and for holding himself and his employees accountable. read more

Great day! 4 of of us kayaked into back country mangroves - self guided tour and loved it! Crocodile sunning himself - we backed out of that area in a hurry - the water is crystal clear and the scenery awe inspiring! Had high Hope's per the reviews. Rented kayaks to tour the mangroves. You were given a laminate map and sent on your way. No markers along the way to guide you. Saw some fish and a few birds. The highlight was watching the fishing guides cleaning fish and throwing fish scraps to the pelicans at the dock. Not worth the $55 for a kayak rental. read more

It was a nice place to stop. Gave it stars due to a nice place to shop feed the fish and hang around. We were interested in renting jet skis while on holiday. We were trying to look at a time we could go. The lady asked the gentleman for help. He basically said can you go this time? No.. this time no? Ok well there's your answer you can't go. The customer service was not good. We walked up and the guy was rude. We were told when purchased that we would have the double kayak for 90 minutes, but when we walked up to the beach the man there said "you'll be back in one hour!" if you want to go through the mangroves they seem to be the only option though. read more

You can't beat the price for the amount of kayaking we did! The mangrove route was okay, the map they provide isn't the best for someone who does know land marks. I prefer the Indian Keys by far (especially if you want to snorkel). read more

Located at Robbies Marina. There are several kiosk type vendors with old Florida crafts, an open air restaurant with very good food and several water craft rentals. The staff is knowledgeable about the area and they strive to match the trip with your skill level as well as weather conditions. They aren't interested in putting sales above safety. Kayaking to Indian Key was an easy, pleasant hour for someone with average skill at a leisurely pace. Allow time to explore the island. There were manta rays, and several aquatic birds. All around fun place to spend the afternoon. read more

This is a really great location to paddle from where you can check out a few different ecosystems and historic sites in the Keys and get drinks and food when you return. See Mitchell or Frank at the Kayak Shack at Robbie's Marina for a great orientation to the area. The rental equipment is great and available in all sizes for all ages; beginners will feel comfortable here and there's enough to see and places to go that all experience levels will be happy. read more
