    Bass Pro Shops compound

Such a beautiful state park that sits between Key Largo and Key West. We stopped on our way out of this area for one more walk on the beach and feeling that warm ocean water. I believe it was $5 entry fee, lots of parking. Picnic tables, clean bathrooms and rinse showers available. We took a nice walk in the water and saw lots of crabs, colorful fish, jellyfish and a large horseshoe crab. The water was so clear and clean. Lots of mangroves and the park sits across from a huge compound owned by Bass Pro Shops. It is covered with gorgeous palm trees and a private beach. This park is a great launching area for wind surfers and I watched a few take off. Definitely a nature filled day can be spent here swimming, exploring, eating or just relaxing in the fantastic Florida sun! Enjoy!

It is a lovely park, even though, I thought it was going to be a much larger park. The beach is beautiful. It has crystal clear water. I visited just to explore. I was actually looking for the trail. After researching, I found out the trail is about 1 mile or so outside the park. I decided to not do it. I popped in during a Sunday morning and it was a calm day. Curry Hammock is mentioned frequently as a must-do place in the Florida Keys. So, I had to check it out. The admission price is $4.50 for a single person. Maybe I was there early, but there was absolutely no one around me. There were very few people paragliding and in jet skies. There are many great photo ops here. I did not go for a swim, but I went inside the water. The water was cooler than I expected, but I had fun. Overall, the state park is gorgeous. I would definitely visit many times more.

There aren't a lot of walking trails here, but there's plenty of other stuff to do. There are small strips of beach, you can rent kayaks, and there were people swimming, even though it is winter and locals think freezing,

What a hidden gem. $4.50 for a day pass, the park is clean and has decent parking for beach area. They do rent kayaks and have a small campground for RV's. There are hiking trails and pavilions for rent. The beach area isn't huge but really quiet which is super nice. The water is clear and has ample sandbar areas for playing in the water. This is a nice alternative to the busier beaches on the Keys.

A beautiful park that has fantastic kayaking. We came here for the day in our RV. The parking lot is small but they have four RV spaces so we were able to get one. Kayaking is very popular here and they have rentals. We have our own kayaks and gear . There are two recommended kayak trails and chose the mangrove tunnel trail. Oh what fun we had! We saw millions of baby jellyfish in what I can only describe as a jellyfish nursery back by the mangroves. We also saw all kinds of fish and many white horseshoe crabs mating. The trail is not long and can be done in less than an hour but we spent hours out there. So many kayakers just passed through the middle and did not venture into the mangroves to see all the sea life. Their loss. We will definitely be back while we are in the Keys to do the other kayak trail, and also check out the sandbar party and the hiking trail down the road.

Sept 2020, We had the pleasure of camping on sight 16 for 2 nights. What an awesome view. Shower & bath facility was clean and well maintained.

Great state park except get ready for roots. Lots of roots, nice views and a surprising amount of people.

Curry Hammock State Park is a Florida State Park, located along both sides of US 1, starting at mile marker 56.2 on Crawl Key in the Florida Keys. Very small but beautiful park with a great beach and a few covered shelters to sit and get out of the sun. History and Culture: This land became a state park in 1991 and is named for Lamar Louise Curry, a revered Miami teacher, whose father, Thomas, purchased large tracts of land in the Middle and Upper Keys. Two miles of the Overseas Heritage Trail pass through the park. This is a multi-use trail which follows the route of the Overseas Railroad, providing foot and bicycle access to Marathon. The Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail also passes through the park.

This state park was the closest one available to us where we were staying while in Marathon. It does not get as much press as Sombrero Beach or Bahia Honda but we enjoyed this park as much as any of them. The primary reason I liked this park was that it was not busy and allowed you to enjoy the beach, water and natural surroundings at your own pace. I recommend going at low tide as the water pulls back to reveal tons of sea creatures such as snails, crabs, horseshoe crabs, fish, etc..

My wedding photographer found Curry Hammock after many problems finding dog friendly places. She and her assistant arrived before us, and spoke with the lady at the check in. They told her what we were doing and that I would have my service dog with me. She clearly wasn't happy about it as she reminded them that they close at dusk. Now...for non-islanders, dusk is the moment the sun disappears. When we were there, that was around 8:30 as sunset starts at 8:15. When we got there, the lady attendant in the booth rudely told us they close at 8. Not 8:01, 8:02......and more. We said ok and went on to meet our photographer. As we were getting out and headed to the beach in our wedding beauty, another worker lady stopped to say hi and to offer any help we wanted. We were lucky enough to get to meet her again when we came back a couple days later. She was so kind and helpful and I didn't feel a moment of discrimination about my service dog or sexual orientation. She simply treated us with respect and was so fun just to talk to. She should be in charge. We stopped at 7:55, despite the lack of sunset we were wanting for pictures. We loaded our car and we're getting in at 8:03. Up comes snotty pants to literally point at us and then jerk her thumb as if to say, "Get the F out." Not a word. Just a rude thumbs gone. I have to say it takes a pretty unhappy person to be rude to a bride in her wedding dress and adorable service dog in hers! Overall, it's a very pretty little beach, but I'm not sure it was worth the bad treatment during our late wedding pictures thanks to Covid canceling our actual wedding.

Great location. Place is well kept and the Staff is very nice. Mo complaints other than the reservation site completely sucks.

This is a great park. I rented a kayak and my wife a paddle board. It was $38 for 2 hours. You can kayak to some Sunken islands or through the mangroves. The beach is not bad. It does get weedy at deeper depths. There are modern bathrooms at the beach, drinking fountains and a vending machine. There are picnic tables and grills at the beach. There is camping as well with modern showers. The entrance fee to the park was $6 for 2 people for the day. There is a nature trail across us 1. It's pretty rugged. Make sure to wear shoes. There is view of the bay from the end on the trail. Be careful there are poisonous trees as well.

The hidden green man. Can you find him? Hint: coming back from the bay point. Look in knotholes.

This is not a beach! It's more for kayaking and water sports. Due to it being a state park, you have to pay to enter and it's not worth it.

For $40, we rented two kayaks for two hours, and paddled all around, including through the mangrove tunnel, which was thrilling.

There are 3 beach areas, a campground/cabins, picnic areas and boat ramps. It's very much a place to relax on the beach and take it easy. Bahia Honda is the tropical paradise that you probably imagine when you think of the Florida Keys. Bahia Honda's beaches--Sandspur, Loggerhead, and Calusa--are one of the biggest draws to the park. Each one is beautiful and worth a visit. Bahia Honda is a great place to swim as the water temperatures are typically warm and the water is shallow. See, it also depends on time of the year, like for us, Sandspur beach was full of seaweed. and i found loggerhead beach to shallow and it was really great to swim over there. while you are here, A fun thing to do is take the quick trail up to the old Bahia Honda Bridge that you can see from Calusa Beach and the very edge of Loggerhead Beach. This is the only trail here and it's a pretty quick walk. The walk is fairly short and you aren't allowed to go far along the bridge as it breaks off at some point. However, you do get to go up high enough to see Bahia Honda from above. The bridge has a great view of both of the beaches. Depending on time of day, you might get a different view. There is little to no shade on the beach. If you are wanting to stay all day, you might want to bring your own umbrella for the beach! Cost: $8 per vehicle, $4.50 for vehicles with one person, $2.50 for pedestrians + cyclists

Bahia Honda means "Deep Bay" and refers to the deep bays of Bahia Honda Key. It is pronounced Bah -EE-ah Own da. It is 30 feet deep which makes it the deepest natural harbors in the Keys. It was established in 1961and is known for its history as part of Henry Flagler's "Overseas Railroad" and is now known as the Overseas Highway. In 1935 there was a huge hurricane that destroyed the railroad. What makes this park so unique is that it is encompasses an offshore island and it sits between Ohio Key and Spanish Harbor Key close to the west end of the Seven Mile Bridge. The park has 524 acres of lush beauty. It is open everyday of the year from 8am - sundown and the fee is $8 per vehicle. Clean restrooms and outdoor showers available. There is so many things to do such as snorkeling, swimming in the gin clear crystal waters, hiking out to the Old Bahia Bridge, birding, camping, boat rentals, a concession stand, rent a cabin, kayak, fishing or visit the nature center. We found parking easily and made our way out on the trail to the Old Bridge. The views from up here are panoramic. After viewing the bridge and the views, we really could not resist taking a dip at one of the beaches. The water was still warm enough to swim in November and it felt fantastic. What I love most about the state park beaches along the Keys are all the marine life you can view while swimming or just walking on the beach. No place like it! If I could give this park 10 stars I would, it is that incredible. Cannot wait to come back again.

We started on the bike trail along the busy highway, then turned into the park. At the guard house, the nicest ranger asked us to come in while he waited on a car driving through. He was so pleasant and caring about having water, giving us directions, etc. I am so sorry I didn't get his name. if you are walking or cycling, it is $2.50 per person. We met another ranger who was maintaining the restroom down by the shore and he was friendly, too! Walking down, there are mangroves on each side. Then you see the shore. They have done such a great job carving out little areas for people to sit or eat, etc. We were very impressed with that. There was no litter and the restroom was also very clean. Highly recommend if you need a break going to or coming from Key West. It is also great if you are staying nearby.

This review is specifically about the PRICING policy for campgrounds in Florida State Parks…read more Camping in the Keys is a popular activity, and it's difficult to find availability. We were thrilled to find that Long Key had a site available for the March date that we needed. Our preference would have been for a site for a Class B RV, but we were willing to accept the only site available, a tent-only site. Our reservation for the site was quite expensive ($34.51) for a tent-only site in a public park, without hookups. The fees in Florida state parks really add up. The site itself was "only" $22.50, but there's also a non-refundable $6.70 reservation fee and an assortment of taxes that totaled $5.31. Unfortunately, due to wildfires near Homestead, FL, we needed to reschedule our trip into the Keys, which also involved cancelling our reservation at Long Key. Of our initial outlay of $34.51, our refund was only for $10 and some change. There was a $17-something cancellation fee, and the initial reservation fee was non-refundable. Of the $10+ returned, over $5 of this was the sales taxes.
